Help How do I get the new update

I received my brand new HTC Evo V a week ago, and have been waiting for the 1.14 update to get pushed down before I root it and put a different ROM. Unfortunately, nothing has been pushed down as of yet.

I kind of want to do the whole rooting thing this weekend, so is there a way to force the update?

If not, can I just download the update files somewhere and flash them in?

This is what my version number currently is. This means I don't have the update, correct?

Because if you are on a custom ROM, you wont be able to install the official update from the over-the-air method. It can be done using a custom ROM and S-OFF/Root but its (for me) more trouble than its worth. Id rather go back to stock and get the official update. Its a radio update so you either need S-OFF or be on stock.

I bought mine two weeks ago and was going to wait for the update, then I started getting that radio interference a lot

Rooted rom and s-off and did the radio and prl fix 3 days ago and I have not received that error ever since

The rooting and getting s-off are way easier than it seems when reading the instructions

Just take your time and read the guides the whole process from stock to soff with a custom Rom took less than an hour

The most difficult part was. Changing the prl imo

Well, that looks like what I'm going to do. I do need to get my phone rooted and unlocked as soon as possible. I feel so restricted when using this Virgin Mobile stock ROM. :(

You need to root, get s off, flash harmonia Rom then follow the guide " turn your evo v into a 3d"
The one I used was on the vmroms website written by Leslie Ann

I went through the newbie guide to unlock and root, then did the S-OFF, and finally went through the "phone into Evo 3D" thread which updated my radios, PRI, and PRL. Topped it all off with the Senseless MidnightRom.

Took a few hours, but I ended up with an absolutely lovely piece of equipment. Feels liberating to be able to do whatever I want with the phone, and not being stuck with stupidly un-removable apps like Twitter or Facebook.

I received another reply from HTC to troubleshoot the update delay:

Thanks for your reply Steve. The first thing we'll need to do would be to wipe the cache partition of the entire phone. This is different from wiping the cache from a single device. For your convenience I've attached a document that details how to perform the wipe itself. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns, and thanks for being a member of the HTC community!

Sincerely,

Joseph

To wipe the cache partition you will need to get to the recovery menu by way of the factory reset menu. You will not be performing a factory reset, and none of your data will be lost as a part of this particular wipe. To get to the factory reset menu, perform the following steps:

1. Turn your phone all the way off.
2. With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons. After about 5 seconds of holding both buttons you should find the phone on a white screen with three green androids across the bottom on skateboards. When you see this screen you can release both buttons.
- If the above doesn't work, your can also Restart the phone by pressing and holding the power button, then select Restart. As soon as the screen turns off, press and hold Volume Down and you should get to the white screen instead.
3. On this screen, use the Volume Down button to highlight the RECOVERY option, then press Power to select it.

At this point he phone should reboot, but go to a black screen with a picture of the phone on it and a red triangle. When you get to this screen, do the following to pull up the recovery menu and perform the following:

1. Hold Volume Up and press Power briefly and the recovery menu should appear.
2. In this menu, use Volume Down to highlight the "Wipe cache partition" option, Then Power to select it. The cache wipe will take about thirty seconds to one minute, maybe longer.
3. Once the wipe is complete it will take you back to the recovery menu. Press Power to select "Reboot system now" this option and the phone will boot up like normal.

Thanks so much Steve. I followed the instructions but unfortunately no update on checking from Settings.

Worth a shot. :)

i tried it too.. no update so i went rage on my phone and rapidly turn it off an on via restart and the the phone tricked by saying it was upgrading i got so happy ,but when i checked my software version.... it was the same...WTF VM?

I called Vm ,but they had no clue what to do so i asked them if i could maunally download the update somewhere ,but the lady didn't know anything about an update or anything... I might switch to the Samsung Galaxy S II if i don't get this update because my phone is ruined my VM

When you saw that the phone was updating that was just the cache being rebuilt, with the ota you'll know about it because it will ask you for permission before downloading and installing the update.

Just tried it on my gf phone, but still no update available. It did seem to make her 4G work better though. Might just be a coincidence.
