How do you keep your screens looking GREAT!!

when you talk on your captivate does your ear touch the phone?
or do you refrain from letting the phone touch your face

ive had some old phones that kind of got permanent screen damage from sweat even though i would wipe it off immediately

how would you describe your screen? and how do you use it when making a call

any tips?

I use a screen protector and I put the top part of the phone on my ear while keeping the rest of it separate from my face (it's a habit one has to develop).

Two things seem to work for me . . .

1) I have microfiber eyeglass cloths next to my recliner and next to my bed that are great for removing fingerprints, etc. These clothes last a LONG time and really shine up the entire phone.

2) I carry my uncased/unskinned/un-screen protected Captivate in my left front pants pocket, screen towards leg. NEVER anything else in the pocket like change, keys, etc. The pants lining keeps the screen nicely polished.

I have a very nice Fortte (www.fortte.com) brand vertical case made specifically for the Captivate, but I'm concerned that the case could unknowlingly come unclipped from my belt . . . but it is nice for "dress up" events. These cases are expensive but of very high quality.

Heh.. And here I am dressing my phone in a space suit.

It's either I'm paranoid or you don't care.

A bit of both, but I got a full body Invisible Shield on mine so I guess we're in the same boat.

Another really great way to keep your phone free of face gunk...bluetooth/headset lol.

I just wipe off my naked screen with my shirt whenever I notice smudges. Looks brand new again. I don't see how sweat could possibly damage this phone's screen.

I do the same. T shirt wipe, and keep my phone in pocket alone, glass facing leg.-that also puts speaker out. I personally don't like the way it feels when you have a screen protector onit. Swipe feels much better with out. Had phone at least 5 weeks and no scratches

I pretty much do everything you just said and for the same reasons. Had it for 7 weeks though and still no scratches! I have confidence this screen is tough (for how I handle my phones).

I use the body glove case which adds a small lip around the screen. So when you lay it flat the screen doesn't touch.-helpful if you drop it and it goes skating face down

Body Glove case enables phone to be placed face down on flat surface (not to mention other BG advantages).
Phone in front pocket, glass facing leg.
T-Shirt wipe if it gets really bad.
No screen protector.

Otherwise...you can go crazy if you let a smudged screen bother you. I adopted that attitude early on and am glad I did.

P.S. Totally unrelated: the longer I own this phone the more I like it.

Mine has always had a screen protector on it and I for one can't even tell it's there just by touching it.

How do you know if you've always had a screen protector? Try it out and you'll notice a difference.

I had a minor heart attack just getting it on right and with no dust or bubbles, having wasted several in failed attempts. So I'm not going to take it off now just to test that theory. :)

Is the difference something that can be explained?

If I had to baby a screen that gets dirty by me touching it, but I'm required to touch it, I'd never use it. I've been wiping the screen clean on my clothes. So far so good. I also run it naked. I know it's replacement cost is over half a grand but I've decided that it's just a thing, and it's just a thing that I use every day. If I break it, I'll get a different more affordable thing. I personally only paid $200 for it, so if I have to match that to buy an Aria or something similar after market then so be it. I'm not about to treat my phone like it's an egg for the next two years.

Yeah. I've always used screen protectors, but with touchscreen s its just not worth it. Plus screen the screen protectors make screen look crappy. I only used a screen protector so when I was done with phone I could sell it in good shape or something, but I've decided the benefits off not having one, are worth the risk. I never sell my old phones anyway, and who cares if the guy I sell it to has a scratch on his phone.I'm tired of having to deal with them for the benefit of the next owner

I just tried the mirror. Feels the same, or close enough, to me. Or maybe my mirror sucks. I'm tempted to remove the screen protector right now though.

I guess I understand where you guys are coming from. If it bothered me so much, I would get rid of it too since the risk is minimal anyway. But I can't even tell it's there and it doesn't affect the functionality or the look of my screen, so it's very cheap insurance against a very small risk.

my screen is perfect and i never had a screen protector on it. when i put it in a pocket i have nothing else in the pocket and i never lay it screen down. i hate the feel of protectors

I hear you, i went through the same trouble

+1 on that

I use an invisible shield, only touch the top part of the phone to my ear. I don't put anything else at all in the same pocket with the phone, and I just wipe it off with my shirt when I've been rubbing my thumbs all over it for long periods of time. Invisible shields are truly excellent if you don't butcher the install.
