Help HOW TO: Installing Froyo 2.2

the battery life on froyo is amazing. And for the most part, most apps work on it. But some users have brought up a good point about going back to 2.1. We have a how to get froyo, how about a how to for going back to 2.1 just in case the official update won't work. Start being prepared people!!

Can anyone help me out?

I moved the update.zip to the root of the sd card. When I reboot into recovery I get the following message.

Assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/B1urAlarmClock.apk"

E;Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted

Thanks in advance

You've either deleted or messed up the default alarm clock.. you're going to have to sbf flash your phone if you want to install 2.2

update worked, but my battery dies faster and it seems to be just a tad slower overall now :( i wiped it twice and still didn't help. also when plugged into my computer now it doesn't charge, it charged slow with 2.1 but wont go up at all now.

did this update automatically put your apps onto your sd card? I never checked this and it may just be a coincidence but now my memory card is full when try to take a picture

No, it shouldn't have. You have to go to Settings -> Applications to do that.

Also, many apps don't even allow you to move to SD yet.
