How to use LauncherPro

i don't think the evo will recognize .ico (someone will tell me if i'm wrong) so i use photoshop to convert those to .jpg or .png if you don't have that, hopefully someone around here can direct you to a image converter that will work. I think i've heard of some web-based programs that are free but can't remember for the life of me what they are called.

Any widget that you use on sense, you can find an alternative to. I don't usually buy apps, but for 99 cents you can buy something that looks like this :

Hey, what toggle/switch widget is that at the top of this screen? Since I don't have the individual toggles from HTC Sense anymore, it would be great to buy that one. Thanks in advance.

Ok now i can get the .ico over to the my sd card but how do i get them resized for my icons? any program?

Backdown- thanks, great job! Where can I download or buy the theme/icon pack that you are showing in the 4th post on the first page? Is that a second dock showing as well with the widgets towards the top of the screen? Looks great.

A lot more responses since i have been on last (computer is broken:( )

Anywho, Mak - I got them all off of Iconfinder | Search and download free icons Just search what you are looking for. If you want specific icons, i could give you those ones. The bottom ones are not widgets, they are applications that are on a dock. You would have to download launcherpro to understand completely what i am talking about.

Thanks. I figured it out, should have read the rest of the thread first...switchpro is what I was asking about.

Do you have an evo?

Okay, so I've heard so much about Launcher Pro, even prior to getting my EVO on Launch day. Now that I've gotten somewhat comfortable with Android, I just might give it a shot. The best part about it, for me, is that it goes into landscape mode when you place your phone down with the kickstand out.

These are the widgets that I use that would be pretty important for me to download and start using:
1) small clock w/ location via gps (htc widget)
2) small weather w/ location via gps (htc widget)
3) vertical line contacts widget customizable for different groups (need to be able to put 2 on one of the 7 homescreens)
4) Calendar Agenda Widget (htc widget)
5) Friendstream (not sure if this is a htc widget or not)

Those are the "main" widgets I use that are "must haves" for me. For those of you that are using launcher pro, would you be able to tell me if there are apps like those widgets available if I were to download and use this? I saw there's already a widget for people, but the other ones are pretty important to me (MOST importantly, the Agenda Calendar widget).

Thanks in advance for anyone that's currently using Launcher Pro that can answer if there are comparable/better widgets, usable on Launcher Pro, to what I'll need.

alright first for both 1 and 2 i would use beautiful widgets it has a 4 x2 and 4x1 clock/weather widget , with geolocation . Its really nice , and has a ton of customization options .

for #3 just go to the launcher pro site and make sure you have the latest version and if you get the full version(launcherpro plus) as well for 2.99 you get a people widget just like the one htc has for sense . also very nice

for #4 there is pure calender , but i would just use the stock calendar until the dev for launcher pro adds the calendar widget

and for # 5 id just again wait till the dev makes the "friendstream" widget .

in the past two weeks we have received the people widget and the bookmarks widget Htc style. So the Dev has been pretty quick about his updates . Here is the rundown of widgets comming to launcherpro plus .

Upcoming widgets include:

Just want to make sure, I can switch back and forth between Launcher Pro and Sense UI at anytime, correct? In other words, I don't have to soft reset everytime I switch?

I believe you can just go to Settings-->Applications-->Launcher Pro ---> clear defaults. The next time you press your home button it should ask if you want to use HTC Sense or Launcher Pro as your default and at that point you can choose what ever one you want.

There might be an easier way to doing it but I'm not aware of it. Just started using Launcher pro myself.

I went ahead and downloaded Launcher Pro. I thought I'd have to launch it in order to use it, but I realized that everytime I press the Home Button (on the EVO), it gives me the option for HTC Sense or Launcher Pro! I like that. It gives me an opportunity to set up Launcher Pro and get familiar with it, prior to making it my default!

One thing I did notice, I already tried to set 7 screens to be available on Launcher Pro. When I did that, I made screen 4 as the default (since it's in the middle of 7 screens). Problem is, it's not identifying it. The default goes to screen 3, instead of 4. I restarted Launcher Pro twice already to have it recognize, but still no luck. Oh well, I'll keep playing with it, but I definitely like Launcher Pro a lot. Now, it's just a matter of finding the apps that'll replace the HTC widgets that I use.

Where on the SD card do I put my custom icons. I tried putting them in the media folder under pictures but it they don't show up on the phone. I'm a noob so please excuse me.

I've been using launcherpro for a while now (courtesy of this thread-Thanks!) and love it. Launcherpro, plus switchpro, and my scrollable pure calendar widget make for a sharp homescreen. my only complaint is that there is no widget options for sprint's hotspot feature (I pay for the feature). So to quickly switch it on my only option is to homeswitcher into sense, flip it on, then back into launcherpro. i should complain, it takes maybe 5 seconds total, but still, I'd love to have that widget in launcher pro so I never had to think about sense again.

EDIT: Never mind. Just found hotspot toggle in the market. it works like a charm.

you have to download each icon? what no way man ? how come you can't download the entire pack

Me? You can download packs..i just wanted individual ones.

Just put them in a separate folder. Like i have a folder called "Icons" for mine.
