HTC Desire S

According to Eurodroid blog...

Gary C quoting HTC said:
As a successor to the popular and award-winning HTC Desire, the new HTC Desire S blends stunning design with power and speed. Inspired by the HTC Legend™ smartphone’s aluminium design, the HTC Desire S is sculpted out of a single block of aluminum making it feel solid and natural in your hand. With Qualcomm’s new 1GHz Snapdragon™ MSM8255 processor, the HTC Desire S offers snappy performance and power. It offers dual front and back cameras, High-Definition video recording and the 3.7-inch WVGA display presents multimedia content brilliantly.

thats saying different to gsm arena specs which say it has the same cpu as the normal desire

it doesnt even mention the full 4 point multitouch

the device is sexeh as hell, im dissapointed as the one i had was told to be dual core and certainly felt fast as hell

the lack on info on that print makes me think they are intentionally being vague

you would imagine so eh, but its not very detailed about anything really is it
it doesnt even mention the chipset type
doesnt mention the front facing camera

theres something wierd here

It does mention the front camera, last line on the section top-right of the spec sheet ;)

It could be that 2.4 has been reworked by HTC to feel faster than 2.2 - who knows until a review model surfaces

Why would any manufacturer purposely be vague about any features such as multitouch or dual core processors which sell the device in a much more favourable way? That would be ludicrous on their part surely?

the dual core was just circulated and was percieved on the build, as stated in "that" thread i needed to confirm it as i didnt have much time with the hardware

what i did factually confirm was the os version, sense version and the multitouch

ahh well, im glad its not the specs i reported, people will not believe my stuff in future. i never wanted that attention

also this was supposed to be called the saga

If you look on shipped roms, all the HTC phones are not called what their project names were. Just like Windows. Anyone remember Windows Longhorn?

Very disappointed. Was looking for my next phone and not the leap forward I was expecting.
Very lazy from Htc, must be out spending all the profits.

Yeah, straight into Mark Zuckerbergs account so they can put an F on the front of their phones. F for FAIL. Well done HTC on being the first sucker company to alienate a sizable percentage of your consumers by slapping a Faceache logo on it. I wouldn't touch that with the shi**y end of a stick.

That's only 2 handsets so you can't tarnish the whole range based on that!

But yeah, I wouldn't buy a Facebook phone...leave that to the kiddies

actually INQ already got in bed so to speak with facebook a couple of days before HTC mentioned anything...

and the INQ phones are dedicating more of a graphical interface it seems whereas HTC are just making facebook attach more into stuff inside the phone rather than a natty graphical other than just friendstream so to speak...

I think they arent going mental with features is because they for one know how their buyers dont care about retina style displays or 3D technology...they want a nice reliable phone...maybe they are also just watching to see where their competitors fall down with things such as the 3D tech...

I'm not so sure actually. Think of the number of bits of tech that nopw have "HD" tagged onto them, regardless of whether or not they offer high def capabilities. Similarly with 3D, I think over the next 15 or so months this is going to become the new buzz-tech. I doubt very much that the 3D camera on LG's phone and tablet will be anything other than a huge gimic but that won't stop loads of folk gettimng lured by the marketing. And as for buyers not caring about retina displays and only wanting a phone that works, just look at all the user figures for the iPhone 4. That suggests the contrary is true.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want HTC to start wheeling out gimicie crud just to please the punters looking for the latest shiny gadget. I would, however, like them to make tangable forward steps that keep up with technology, instead of gripping only things like Sense 2.0 which is a frippery at best.

actually 'retina' display WASNT really what the majority went for in terms of features....the majority of iPhone users probably wouldnt know exactly it means....but its apple and it looks pretty...thats all thats needed to hook them nowadays...

I'd say more on the fact of the 3D tech is actually not that bad on the handheld markets...but I just have given myself boot looping errors flashing leedroid back on...so now need to sort that out...

f*ck!

Never a truer word...

Good luck with the bootloop.

fixed :D thank god lol...

but yea...most of the market are hooked by buzzwords but dont know mostly what it means...

though in apples case I think all Job's has to do is say something like "its all changed" and thats enough lol...imagine if some other company just said something like that....everyone would just be like..."and? we care?...meh" :D

Um... I've just had a look at the updated HTC website. By the look of the specs the Incredible S is equal to or better than the Desire S at just about every turn. Is the Incredible S the new flagship? But for it lacking a dual core processor, I think it's a phone I could be happy with.
