HTC Desire Tips & Tricks [READ ME]

There is a widget Power Control which let's you disable Wi-Fi, BT, GPS, syncing and control brightness. If you don't have it there are also many widget-style apps in the market which control those things.
 
How do you check what time someone missed call you and when, I got a missed call but couldn't tell when I got it

There are 2 ways to get a widget on to your homescreen,
1.Long press any clear area of the screen or
2.Press the cross on the bottom right of your homescreen
Then click Widget > Settings > Mobile Network is the widget that you can use to turn on/off the mobile network.
Then just place the widget onto any clear area on your home screen.

What I was trying to say was that my friend has that widget installed on his phone, but I dont. Is there an app available from the market that will do this?
 
Yes there is just search for the dev curvefish,they do a number of widgets,i think the one for turning off the mobile network is called APN onoff.
 
Which keyboard layout do you use? If standard QWERTY then press 12# key (bottom right corner), then 1/2 key (bottom left corner) and there it is, in the middle of the first row of characters :)
 
Does anyone know how to send a file from the SD card to another phone via bluetooth?

And is there an app that makes the center button the home button, similar to the iphone?
 
i posted this in a thread a few days back but didn't get a reply and cannot find my thread now so thought I'd try in here. can anyone tell me how I can reply to more than one person on Twitter with either Peep of the official Twitter app? I can only ever reply to the original person's tweet and there's no option to reply to all if you know what I mean? are there any other twitter apps that can do this simply? Thanks.

When you try to add widget, there's a drown down for "more HTC widgets" it's in there to download, amongst others.

Click the Search button on here, then choose Advanced Search. In there you can enter your username and it will show you all threads you've posted too, or created.
 
How do I initiate voice dialing? I was told to hold the search button down and say "call name" but it keeps diverting to a Google search?

Do you have your contacts saved into Google? When you seach try saying "Dial name"

Yeah, I tried de-linking the contact from Facebook so it was just a Google contact. Made sure the number was there. Just wouldn't happen.

It seems to be recognising my voice OK. For example, I said "call donna mobile" and did a Google search for "cool donna mobile"

Can you definitely do a voice call by holding down the search button? I only added voice search. Do I need to download something else to enable voice calling? Am I missing something?

Same here, I cant get it to voice dial either. Is it only available in certain countries? I don't get Google voice turn by turn navigation here in Oz.
 
I'm also stuggling with voice dialling - it seems to either search google or call one person in particular, no matter who's name I say! For example I say "call Shawn" and it calls Amanda! or searches for call on google!! I say call Mum and it still calls Amanda!? All contacts are google contacts also.

lol, try saying "dial mum".
 
lol, sorry the bloody thing is even confusing me now, I meant Dial! I'm beginning to think I can't speak properly now as I've added loads of names and it won't even dial Amanda now, just gives me suggestions of what I might be searching for!
 
Hi New user here, I have been trying to change the time of one of the clocks on the two clock home screen, does anyone know how I can do this?
nothing comes up on search.

Desk Clock -> World Clock -> Menu -> Home Settings -> Type in Location.

The clock on the left will now show the time set for that location and the clock on the right will show your "Current Location".
