HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

I'm trying to decide if I want to do the upgrade or not. Here a couple of questions that I have. Can you re install your paid apps without having to pay for them again? Does the HTC music player Widget work? I listen to music on my phone every day, I even installed a new stereo in my truck with an aux jack so I could use my phone there, and the native app is my favorite. What is the deal with the bug that causes you to not be able to hear calls? Is that bug in this version too? Does Handcent and swype work?

I have access to all of my paid apps. If you use Sense, then all of the HTC Widgets will be available.

I have read about the audio bug, but I haven't experienced anything of the sort.

I know people are using both Handcent and Swype.

Is it necessary to backup my contacts list to a pc or is there a way to backup to my sd card?

If you saved your contacts as Google contacts, then they will automatically re-synch with your Gmail contacts after you install the leak.

I personally like to go into Gmail ahead of time and export my Contacts as a CSV file to backup my Contacts to my computer. I have this fear that if I wiped my Contacts on my phone, Gmail will sync with it the wrong way and wipe out the Contacts in my gmail as well. But that's just me being paranoid. :)

Hi! I just wanted to say thank you to all of you that started this and especially to Caddyman for posting the link to the download. I was one of the ones that got sick of waiting for the update - I have had my Eris since February and have been hearing that is coming ever since I got it. After reading all the posts on here I finally got the guts to try it and it worked beautifully! My phone is even better now - even the internet is faster. Thank you all again! :D

It might be buried in here somewhere-- but are we still anticipating an OTA for the 2.1?

I am not very tech savvy (but am fascinated by many of the discussions here for some weird reason). So I would rather wait for an OTA than using the leak, or even rooting the phone, and wind up bricking it.

Maybe I should give in and by an Incredible.

I was scared too but I did it last night and it worked great! My phone is even better now! Although the Incredible does look pretty good......

I've done both 1st and 2nd leak and now I can't even get past the screen saying "HBOOT".:(

Frustrating as all.

Need help!!!

I've cleared the SD card & factor rest the phone.

It runs the list after I "Volume Down + Power On"

That's it.

Is the file named properly? PB00IMG

Make sure there are no numbers in the file name, such as (1) or (2).

I'm on the 2nd leak right now... are there any real advantages of having this leak instead of the 2nd leak? other than it fixing some bugs that may been on the 2nd leak? because if not I'm not going to upgrade to this one because I'm not having any bugs on my version right now... and so if there are no real advantages then i'm not going to even bother with flashing this leak.

Well, I've been lurking and "thanking"........ but I finally did it. I am by no means incredibly tech savvy, but I upgraded to the 2.1v3. (Yay me! LOL) The directions were clear and concise, and I was able to complete the upgrade without a hitch. I spent all day geekin' out on my "new" phone. It's awesome! I use Swype, Handcent, and PDANet...and they all work. The only app that I could not find was Imusic...no biggie, there is another MP3 finder, and it works just as well. Through Astro, I was able to see that a lot of my directories were still there from before the update. I didn't have to reinstall my pics or music either - they were still there. I went from 1.5 to this new version.

Just wanted to share my experience since I depended on all of yours before I made my decision to go for it....

Thank you!

Glad it worked out for you! I think Google cleaned house on some of the mp3 downloading apps. I know Music Junk is gone (not sure about Imusic).

Is there a way to tweak reception? I upgraded from 1.5 and have horrible reception and dropped calls. I know it isn't my lack of coverage because my Blackberry had full strength whereas now I only have 1 or 2 bars. I apologize if this issue has already been covered.

just missing some apps i cannt download off the market yet cause it is not the official release from verizon

For you people who have never had the silent call bug, can you tell me if there's anything you think is unusual about your own use of the phone? Like, "I'm not using Gmail" or "I don't let my phone auto sync" or "I've never used bluetooth"? And is your hardware version "002" (in settings: about phone: hardware)?

I've used all three leaks and never had this bug. I do use Gmail, I do let my phone auto sync, but I have never used bluetooth on it (although I should so I don't get a ticket) and my hardware version is 002. Probably no help, but....

sooo, i like it and all... but 2.1 took out multizoom feature? Kind of shit for web browsing can only double tap and zoom in to one setting cant choose how far you need to zoom in... anyone know about this?
