However, there are a few clues which lead me to lean toward the "no."

The strongest clue is that it has been repeated by Verizon and HTC representatives that one of the big issues being corrected by developers is that the wiping of the user's data in the device in order to install an update is not in the best interest of either the user or the company.

If they desire to give birth to a large software bundle which will segue into all user's phones, then it seems expedient for them to concentrate on the stock 1.5 which is in most need of the updated code, rather than attempt to accommodate one or the other versions of the in-development code.

Dammit, that makes sense... wishful thinking on my part, hoping the OTA would work for the 'early adopters'. Kudos to you, though, the first reasonable answer I've read on the subject. :)
 
Anyone else have an issue with the pinch/zoom feature not working? It dosnt work for the home pages any more, or the internet. Could be a setting, hell if I can find it though.

No problems here. I just edited my contact card fine and have been in and out of the People app quite a bit.

It works the same for me as it did on 1.5, shitty. It's just operator error though. I just can't pinch it correctly.

I just figured out that I can make it work for Internet browsing and the 7 home screens. Dosnt work with pinch/zoom feature, but you can double tap the screen to get the zoom to work for internet, and selecting the Home icon (next to menu) will bring up the 7 screens to select one (Both use to work with pinch/zoom feature). Not what I wanted, but it will work until I figure it out, someone else figures it out, or I re-install.

(I probably should mention that I am using 2.1.3 and the stock browser - wish I would have known about sense-able rom before I did the first leak :()

I told him switch it back because the memory card probably wasnt the right kind. Once he switched it back to the original, he was fine and installed the leak in like 10 minutes.

That's what I did....put the old card back in and it worked fine. Thanks a million!!!!
 
Went to v3 from v2 and had no problems - didn't even have to back up my music or photos as they were still there when I finished the flash.

Some problems people reporting:

Handcent - working perfectly for me - actually seems a bit faster but then again I could be seeing things slower (after happy hour last night)

Gmail - embedded working now

% without signal - never had it before, don't now

Links working from other apps - Check working now (sidenote: does anyone like Skyfire - i think it's too "busy" and cumbersome)

MAD PROPS TO CADDY FOR GIVING THIS TO US - I am thinking this might be the OTA considering there was an article on androidcentral.com that the Hero official update is coming next week (Screen leak has Samsung Moment getting Eclair tonight, Hero next week | Android Central)

hey guys...im trying to download this file...and it keeps getting corrupted...it says it cant open the file because its zipped...... i downloaded the first leak on a pc and it was fine...im on a mac now and i have no idea what to do?..

cant you browse to this site with your phone, D/L it, check the location with Astro (move if needed), then install as normal?

other option is to go to the next 9 neighbors, considering 1 in 10 have mac, you should have 9 pc's nearby to borrow for a moment :) (j/k)

What says it can't open it? PC? Phone?
 
haha ya i tried my roommates comp.. pc...it didnt work either and i have NO idea why......but it says decompression failed on my mac? tried all 3 mirror links ..

You don't want to unzip it anyhow. If you have something st to unzip, change your settings. You want to download the zipped file and put it on your phone zipped.

How do you deal with this then ? I've installed the previous (2) leaks with no issues and always backed up my apps using "AppManager" (or "AppMonster"). I'm trying to remember, but I may have simply used that backup list for reference and re-downloaded everything one-by-one.
 
ok so i got it on to my sd card...tried to install it...now i have a symbol of a phone and an exclamation point inside a triangle...?

The name of the zip file doesn't have a (1) in it, does it? I had to erase the (1) on mine. The file name has to be exact.

It should be PB00IMG

Does your zip file have a (1) or (2) at the end of it? (ie PB00IMG(1).

First delete any other PB00IMG file on your computer/SD card. Then you need to rename your new zip file to PB00IMG (with no other numbers after it). You should then be ready to flash the image file.
 
Been running v3 for a day or so now and I still have the dialer lag issue and the forced miss call issue. In other words, my phone starts to ring in my pocket, I reach for it, pull the phone out and the phone just ignores the call...VERY frustrating if you ask me.

As far as everything else goes, v3 allows the Gallery_flan.apk to switch from landscape to portrait mode without the huge screen mess...that's nice. And, all my apps that couldn't connect to the web in v2 now can...so that's nice as well!

But that dialer/answer issue needs to go!
