HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

I am happy to report that once I got home, and had a nap (being old and all), and used my htc data cable I was able to get the image file to copy over, and then ran the update and everything thus far appears to be going like it should. When it is done I will post back.

Thanks to those who offered suggestions.
 
I searched through this post and cannot seem to find a answer to the problem with the Market being extremely slow to load and download apps after upgrading to the new 2.1 vers 3.

Anyone?

This is one of those dead horse questions in some of the other threads, unfortunately at this time, you can NOT go back to 1.5 so consider your choices wisely before you download and realize, some of us do some minor issues with the 2.1 versions. I just read that they are diligently working on the issue of returning to 1.5. Hope this helps. :)
 
All done... So far so good. Things seem a ton better. Dialer is faster, things seem smoother. Just update roaming, sync worked great just have to start setting everything back up to my likings.
 
I'm looking to root v3, but have no idea how to do it. I went to xda's site and saw that they provided a windows application that simplifies the process, but I have a Mac. Is there anything that will "dummy" up the process for me?
 
There is a Q&A on the root sub forum. You should be able to find all the answers you need there. Along with a full guide on how to root.

Well I downloaded Advanced task killer and with only atk running all I have is 57m Of avail memory, on 1.5 with nothing running i had about 80mb avail
 
I must say that I was skeptical about updating from 1.5, but I did and so far I am very pleased with this version. Will let you know if I find any bugs.

I actually upgraded from 2.1 version 2, where I did not have the problem with the Market.

I've tried *228 option 1 and option 2 with no luck.
 
Uhh......I'm not getting any of the links to work, I am not seeing a new 2.1 v3 in the original page one first post, in the mirror 1 I am not seeing a PB00IMG file and on the instruction download it shows 2.1 v2 NEW and 2.1 v1 OLD?

As of now, I feel this issue can only be fixed by a developer that has the necessary skills to fix it. I don't think we can isolate what causes it with our limited knowledge.

Again, only thing you can do is restart.

Open up ATK. Hit menu and go to settings. At the bottom, it will have a "level" on there. Go to low level security, where you will be able to delete more processes, rather than at high security where there are fewer processes you are allowed to kill.
 
I just read an article stating how the incredible has the same low signal bars problem that has been plaguing our leaked versions. So I don't think this is going to be a bug that is fixed with the official ota if they shipped the incredible with the same bug.

Been running v3 through its paces. Smooth as glass ! I never had an issue in v2 other than the browser crashing from time to time. I have to believe the folks that have issues could be hardware related, in software drivers can affect networking equipment. I have seen many strange things happen.

Ironically, this was not a problem for my before upgrading to v3, but now it is.

I have been doing some heavy editing in my gmail contacts list.

I'm wondering if a factory reset is in order or it's just the app?

I can't open it. And the People app is crashing like crazy. This was not a problem for me in v2.

Yeah its true, no one knows. I even asked a HTC rep, and she didnt know. But, I'm going to just speculate here so please indulge a fool:

I installed the v1 leak about 2 weeks ago. Since then I kept trying to install v2 leak and the phone just wouldn't allow it. I tried about 10 different things, and nothing. The phone refused to cooperate and risked a sever beating.

This leak comes out (v3) and installs like clockwork, zero problems.

I think we'll be able to update once the new version comes out because it should just update everything the way the v1 to v3 leak updated. Also, doesn't a manual RUU usually come out, for the impatient among us (me) to upgrade via PC?

Or I could be dead wrong. :D

As said earlier here, and in other threads ;), there is no certainty to a "yes" or a "no" as to if the official OTA will or will not come to phones with one of the leaked versions installed.

However, there are a few clues which lead me to lean toward the "no."

The strongest clue is that it has been repeated by Verizon and HTC representatives that one of the big issues being corrected by developers is that the wiping of the user's data in the device in order to install an update is not in the best interest of either the user or the company.

If they desire to give birth to a large software bundle which will segue naturally into user's phones, then it seems expedient for them to concentrate on the stock 1.5 which is in most need of the updated code, rather than attempt to accommodate one or the other of the versions of the in-development code leaked and installed by some users.
 
Hi,

I am new here and would really like to do this update today. The instructions seem to be pretty clear but I do have a stupid question. You say to put the zip file in the root folder. I am not sure where the root folder is? Can someone please help me with this. I really don't want to brick my phone because I put the file in the wrong file. Thanks so much, I really appreciate it.

"Root" is just the sd card itself, all files and folders are in the "root folder" by just being on the sd card.

Be sure to put the leak zip file by itself on the card and not in any folder and it will be in "root."
