HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

Well so far V3 has been a giant failure for me. Loaded it to flash storage, reset, rebooted, followed the instructions and nothing, just sits there like a rock.

Got back into phone, formatted flash storage, copied over again, gets about 80% copied then windows looses the flash as a drive. Now I cannot transfer the file over. Gets to about the same point every time and bombs.

Downloaded file again from another source and again fails at the same spot.

This is sucking big time. I pretty frustrated at this point. I should have known better, everything has gone wrong today.

You may want to try without having your phone mounted as a drive. Meaning: disconnect the USB cable when you try it.

I may have misunderstood, I thought you were trying the update with your phone still connected to the computer with the USB cable.

its disconnected. I cant even get the file on it now. The first time I tried the update it was disconnected.

Does your phone bootup at all? If so, can you download the file using the browser on your phone?

Don't know if anyone mentioned this before or not, but hitting the home (house) button on the primary "middle" sense screen puts you in helicopter mode without having to pinch the screen.

Its friggin cool, right? 1.5 compared to 2.1 is just great.

This happened to me with the first leak. One thing i tried and it seemed to work for me was to use the checkin service trick. Open the dialer, type in *#*#checkin#*#* and it should do its thing. It took the login error instances from everytime I booted up to about every 4 or 5 times.

But someone just told me that v2 fixed that issue.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that some of the "Varsity" (Caddyman, OTD, Frisco, etc) aren't here, they're usually around earlier in the day. What about a reset of your phone, not using the upgrade technique, just a normal "run of the mill" hard reset. It will then let you setup your Google account just like each time a factory reset is performed. Just a thought.

The first thing I would try is going to Settings > Applications > manage applications and find Gmail and gmail storage. Open each and select clear data. That should reset your gmail accounts and allow you to enter the info.

I don't know if this is your issue but I had a fellow poster on another forum with this issue. I spent 2 hours on video skype with him and tried everything. My last resort was asking if that was the original memory card that came with the phone, he said no he used the original in his mp3 player.

I told him switch it back because the memory card probably wasnt the right kind. Once he switched it back to the original, he was fine and installed the leak in like 10 minutes.

Not to sound snippy or anything, but the bug fix/ change log is in the first post. Why would you expect new features?

The built in web browser is MUCH better. Faster and easier to use. Google Maps with turn by turn navigation works really well and my baterry life has improved. I also love the weather animations. What exactly were you expecting?

Thanks OTD, i fixed it. It was actually not a Google sign in error but a Youtube error. I went into my accounts and sync and deleted the account. Not really sure how it got there anyway but hey, one minor bug, i love 2.1!

You have an app that's keeping it awake. Or maybe it's trying to sync with something (Facebook, Gmail, etc.) but isn't able to.

It could be many different problems. Best thing is to not have frivolous apps running, like something that constantly gauges battery, signal, etc. running because they drain the battery like crazy. Or keep it awake.

That was exactly the problem.... Had a battery gauge on home screen, deleted it and now it sleeps! Thank you.... Now do you have any suggestions on SMS apps bc my native, Handcent, & sms popup do not work? Thank you for your help!

Yes, put it on the card, DO NOT UNZIP IT FIRST - make sure it is in the root of the card, not in a folder, and yes, you should be able to see it if you are using Astro file manager - also, make sure that the file name hasn't been changed - should not have an numbers in parenthesis ex: PB00IMG(1) - if so, you need to rename it on your PC or Mac and then transfer to your card -

I got it to the card now, I keep getting HBOOT <send> fastboot mode and <vol up> recovery. What am I doing wrong?

Never mind got it, duhhh my computer was putting -1 on the end of the zip and I took the one off and forgot the dash, knew it was simple shit I was missing. Thanks guys, oh and gals.

Thanks Caddy! Downloaded and installed last night. Install was a piece of cake. Running all day with no issues at all. Navigation and Weather animations are kick ass. Like any ne OS it sure is pretty.

I thought the tutorial stated that that stuff all gets wiped out with the installation and has to be saved and then retrieved after it's done.

Only wiped my apps.

Does anyone else believe the 2.1v3 leak has improved on the vibration function? I don't THINK I'm crazy but it was like night and day for myself. If no one else has thought this then I just might be dreaming...anyone?

No change in the vibration. Software can't make a mechanical thingy vibrate any harder.

Why even download it if you are not going to install it?

I downloadedd the first two to my PC and let them set. The fixes in v3 sounded like it was good to go and I'm glad I installed it.

I installed v3 2.1 and it work but is very very slow..... also hancent isn't working at all.... any idea's or something that i have done wrong?

Reinstall Hancent. It works fine for me.
