HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

If anyone is having an issue with the leak, just call customer service and play innocent about receiving a notification about being a beta testers, don't say you got a txt msg but rather a notifiction and it was done over the air, they will indeed send you a replacement phone under warrenty. new phone is coming in two days can't wait to root!!!

I can see a bunch of people on the phone right now.

Hi Anroid community. I'm excited and happy to read all the good work you're doing. Thanks in advance for the advice and for compensating for Verizon's lack of support in rolling new releases. That said...
My question is regarding Skype Mobile. I've downloaded the zip file and updated my phone. This was suppose to be a factory version. I'm now running the following:
Firmware version: 2.1
Baseband: 2.41.04.02.02
Kernal: 2.6.29-5cf233c2 htc-kernal@and18-2 #1
Build: 2.26.605.2 CL134869 release keys
Software number 2.26.605.2

My issue is that I can't download Skype Mobile from any on line application source.
I get the message: error 404, file not found.
It was explained to me that the phone is not sending the correct info to Android Market, or to the Verizon/Skype web site.

Can anyone clarify? Illuminate?
Will 2.1 V3 resolve this issue?
Is there a file that available that I can manually install for Skype Mobile on the Eris?

Any help is appreciated.

If the official release is a newer version than the latest leak, you'll get it OTA.

If not, you can always download the actual verizon one off line, it'll be put online very shortly after it's released.

From what I understand, if the build number of the OTA release is the same or higher than 2.1v3, you will be able to update. I can't imagine that the OTA release would have a LOWER version number.

Hi all: i was wondering if anybody else is having this problem besides me. when i get a call from someone i already have in my contacts, they show up as a unknown caller.y wifes phone doing the same thing. I never had this with 1.5. I can look @ my contacts # and its the same # that just showed up unknown. I hope theres a fix for this. I called my wifes phone and viseversa and we both showed up unknow caller. Sucks!

I am having the same problem - except it will eventually say who it is, only after several rings. And then it will sit in the history with the contact info in it. I did not have this delay in 2.1 v2. I'd like to know who's calling before I answer, so this is a drawback.

Does everyone have this issue?

Just don't have any patience any more. I'm installing the leak. I'm never going to finish Android Island if I keep overwriting my damn data!

So I finally decided to root and install the new ROM that is basically the 2.1v3 leak.

Pros:

1. Speeds up phone dramatically in my opinion.
2. Navigation is great.
3. New marketplace is so much nicer.
4. Weather filling your whole home screen when you first log in is cool gimmick.
4. Graphic Icons in settings are nice to look at.

Cons:

1. Phone reception seems less.
2. Sound quality through speaker on calls seems to have gotten worse.
3. When sending a pix message, the top line of the phone seems to bug out with black and white pixels before it asks to resize the pic.
4. Sometimes turning off your mobile internet connection doesn't work and it will stay on, even though the toggle switch is off.

ok... so i feel dumb and obviously didn't read well enough... i thought using this 2.1v3 with the root instructions would give me v3 root... i was mistaken...

they just sent you a new one? do you have to send your old one back??? this might be an option i consider if theres no way i can get back my root...

hey, im new to this site. found the link thru Bodybuilding..cm
i got my first droid today HTC Eris.
all i done to this was load up music and couple pics.
should i get to know the droid 1.5 or is it ok to jump into the 2.1v3? right.
do i install the 2.1v3 only?

and can i download thru my computer? (mac) then transfer it to my phone?

sure you can always lie to Verizon and fraudulently have them send you a replacement just so you can have root.

What am I doing wrong? I did both the first and second leaks just fine, but I can't seem to do the third... I put the file on my SD card (no it is not named with a (1) or anything). When I power on the phone with the volume up, It shows me a picture of a phone with an exclamation point inside a red triangle. It doesn't go any further - just stays locked on that screen. I have downloaded the file multiple times, even from the phone directly. Any suggestions?

I have this same issue - tried multiple SD cards formatted on both the phone and on my PC - tried multiple downloads of the update from multiple sources - tried copying the ROM to my cards on via Windows and a card adapter, downloading directly from the phone, and copying to the SD cards from my PC to my phone - I get one of two issues - in both cases the phone doesn't recognize the update file and either (1) cycles back to Fastboot/Recovery or gives me the picture listed above

Anyone else having this issue and/or been able to determine where it's coming from to fix it? I want to go to V3 for the enhancements but can't for some reason get it to work.

I wouldn't just jump right into doing the upgrade. It's a big decision to make considering the bugs that some people have. It took me four months of researching and planning before I did it. I'm not saying that you should wait for four months, but just get to know your phone before making that switch.

+1
Cuz you never know, you may be totally satisfied with your phone the way it is... I know I was, but I'm cool with the upgrade.

I noticed an issue I'm having with v3 that I haven't had with the others. When I plug my phone into my PC to charge, I get the USB connected icon in the status bar of my phone. However, when I unplug it, the icon never goes away, like it didn't recognize I unplugged. Not a big deal, though. Anyone else have this issue?

mero20... the no audio bug pretty much makes the "phone" part of your phone useless

1.5 is working... don't screw up a good thing

The only problem that I have is when I am listening to music with the lock screen on and I receive a call I get serious lag. The phone will ring for several seconds before my phone will let me answer the call. Once the screen went black and I missed the call entirely. I just set my phone up to where it will never time out so now it won't lock unless I tell it to and I haven't had any problems since. It's a minor bug and I am very happy about the upgrade. Now NPH- has the zombie phone bug which basically makes his phone useless as a phone. It works on some phones, and other phones have issues.

Well, if you're on 1.5 then you would do Root instead of leak... right?

In which case you can go back to 1.5 if you dont like it.

So not screwing anything up for trying.

I upgraded last night from 1.5. I have no interest in rooting, I just wanted some of the new features and apps (navigator, working youtube, pinching to zoom, etc.).

As for the people saying don't upgrade, here's my 2 cents: There is no reason, in my situation, to not upgrade...Either Verizon will release the OTA and I'd get it anyway or Verizon never will and why would I want to be stuck with 1.5 for the next 18 months until I get my "new every 2"? As for my warranty, as stated above, if Verizon does comeout with the OTA then nothing to worry about and if they don't then I'm sure someone out there will figure out how to downgrade it someday and restore 1.5. I really so no reason to not upgrade, unless you're after root, which I don't really care about.

On a related note, I have seen nothing wrong with the update so far except that a lot of the album artwork on Mixzing that used to show up is no longer showing up. Other than that no bugs or issues and I'm completely happy with my decision....(except that in all the upgrade excitement, which I posted about earlier, I deleted all my pics and videos on my SD card).
