Root HTC EVO Design 4G - All Carriers - Root guide

First you have to unlock the bootloader. Then with cwm recovery you can flash super user or super su through recovery. Then you're rooted and good to go! :)
 
Now that my phone is rooted and has a custom rom my Design wants me to update the HTC Software.

How do I do this? Any help would be appreciated.
 
I previously unlocked my bootloader then I was having some problems from using a super wipe zip so I relocked and ran ruu so it's back on but getting server error in market I'm trying to unlock bootloader and getting errors trying using adb and kingdom utility
 
So...it seems that the PH44IMG.zip file can't be downloaded from there any more. Does anyone have an alternate link?

Also does this work for the latest version of ICS on this phone? (Don't quite know if that matters or not.)

I no longer own the phone but I kept some of the files in case anyone needed them there in my drop box. Pm me . I'll figure out how to put in in public folder
/sorry not very practiceded at drop box/ or I'll bet you in w Pw. So if you seriously need it let me know. I also have the factory cwm image and the zip to reroot.....just trying to give back, cause a lot of peeps helped me when I owns the evo.
 
Tried everything step by step. I failed when i tried to unlock my bootloader. The htc website said this exactly

error code: 173
error reason: Check rule fail with exception

Thanks pckarma112, but I found it in an older Apache Thunder post. I'm just trying to get 4G WiMax working for someone who flashed their EVO 3D to Boost Mobile using the EVO Design (Kingdom) as their donor phone. I'm starting to think I'm going to have to do more than change the WiMax MAC address...which is acquiring the RSA keys. Can't do that without root...UGH! To do this I might consider: unlocking his bootloader, flashing CWM via fastboot, and running the SuperSU-v0.99.zip in CWM to root the device so that none of his information is lost. Hopefully the SuperSU zip I have will work...
 
I do not really know what's going on, but on page w w w.htcdev.com, I have successfully submitted my token, but got no email response, I repeated the process several times with no response.
any idea?
 
ok folks...need a little assistance if possible! Trying to root my girlfriends design... has latest sense and android update(3.6-4.0.3) bootloader is unlocked...had no issues there. Anyhow when i go to run the CWM recovery.img in fastboot it parses the zip then comes up FAILED-PU????
Something about the partition update failed. I have an OG EVO rooted the first week over two years ago I am a member on XDA so Android is not new to me but this has got me stumped! There are no Evo Design forums over there so I'm hoping someone can help me out here. Thank you and yes I've Googled everything to figure this out.

hey i would just like to confirm that the info on how to root my phone is the most cuurent and working version? ive never rooted any phone before so i just want to make sure before i jump into it. i used to mod xbox 360s and im good with computers and stuff so im sure i can handle this plus the directions seem preety straight forward. like i said just want to make sure the instructions on top of first page are most current wat to do the root. my phone info is htc evo design 4g boost mobile software is version 4.0.3.

I had no issues and this is only the second phone I rooted. :D
 
Hi i have HTC Evo Design 4G Sprint made in Taiwan.My phone wants to update system to android icecream sandwich 4.0 and i download i think this is 247mb and i go update .I wait few minutes for install and when is install my phone was rebooted and stuck i cant power on my phone is stuck on "htc".I think my system is deleted i have clockworkmod.I dont have a system(software) and my phone cant power on.PLEASE HELP ME HOW TO FIND A SYSTEM AND INSTALL :confused::confused::mad::mad:
 
i cant seem to get the SU installed, used the IMG file changed the mainver: 2.12.651.5 the progress bar get to 100% and sends me back to the original Hboot screen. Help ive been trying all day long, the hard part the unlock took me less than this.

wonderig if there still people helping here i have the sprint design evo 4g ics i have got the token from htc site they emailed me the unlock code thing i put it in the folder with the sdk and stuff when i try to load it though command it keeps telling me either a when im in hboot mode waiting for device or b when im in fastboot error: cannot load 'Unlock_code.bin': Unknown error any pointers on what i should or if im doing it wrong
 
I finished the "hard part" and unlocked my phone. Now the part Im having a hard time with is downloading CMW. Seems like the link no longer works. I've been researching over and over again but I can;t seem to find the right one and I'm also a little nervous about what I might be trying to download. PLEASE HELP!

Looking to overclock and maybe get some guidance in that area as well
 
is the htcdev site giving anybody else problems? now ive registered but everytime I goto the second page, it says I have to log in again, then I do, then it just sends me back to the homepage of htc...

Ha! had the same issue. was making me nuts. solution... log in at the top right of the homepage

i will contact you i tried to go to the link before but its been diabled due to traffic volume ive followed all prior directions up to now i like this site so far:)
