Well, I try to stay away from Sprint CS and tech support as much as possible...in fact, except for 1 or 2 CS calls, I've managed to do it for 13 years so far. I think that this is a quick-fix deal by HTC that involves an internal tool that could quickly and reliably root the phone, regardless of the release the phone is on...something they don't want to see in the wild, since the root community could root any release they put out in the future instantly and not even have to break a sweat. I'll bet that's why they are going this route.
