I included my data usage, sms count and showing that I have wifi and gps on. Im not doing anything but showing what my battery life is like on cm7. I also use setcpu to overclock and underclock.

not many people have stated the issue i am having. i have only owned the phone since sunday, the battery is pretty decent under normal use, (using advanced task killer). now i fully charged my phone before a long drive and then used the music player to play my music through my car stereo. the battery died in under 2 and a half hours, completely dead. today i did a small test, after unplugging the phone for about 4 hours and barely using it. i had over have the battery life left, i plugged it into the headphone jack for the stereo in my room and in under an hour and a half my phone was at 5%.. the wifi is turned off also keep in mind. Do i have a faulty battery?!!.. the galaxy s had no issue playing music.

Do not use advanced task killer it does more harm than good after 2.2 it messes with the internal systems power management

Um, add up all the % in the usage and it totals 100%. Then if you select one it tells you what and how long.

Of course they all add up to 100% I know that. The math for the battery only taking up 8% just doesn't add up. 2 hours of display out of 7 hours is roughly is roughly 28.5% of the time out of those 7 hours.

It just doesn't add up that Android System, Cell Standby, and Phone Idle are using up more battery than the display when the display has been on 28.5% of the time since the phone has been powered on.

Exactly... yeah something isn't adding up. Presumably the screen math is right, which mean your "7-hr" estimate must be wrong. You say the display was on for 2-hrs, and since the screen shows that's 8% of total on-time, then it means the phone was really on for 2hrs * 1/0.08 = 25 hrs... not likely. So either the phone's math is wrong, or the numbers you're providing aren't real...

something weird happened today, my battery was at 85%, i took off the battery cover, put it back on, phone reboots, now i have 91% battery life.

I have found a solution to my battery issues!

I wrote in a number of threads that my battery life experience has been dismal. Off charger at 7:30A, and by 5pm i'm well below 30%. This is with very LIGHT usage. I exchanged the battery at AT&T within my 30 days, and saw ZERO improvement, meaning that something still had to be wrong with my phone/settings. And today i hit the jackpot.

It's ridiculously simple! Every time you reboot your phone, a number of a AT&T apps start up and run in the background. Killing those on start-up made my battery last TWICE AS LONG. Obviously rooting your phone will get rid of all this crap-ware, so this is for phones that have NOT been rooted.

1) Restart your phone
2) Go to Menu->Settings->Applications->Running services
3) Stop the following services:
AT&T mark the spot (if you have it)
AT&T Navigator ResourcePreloader
AT&T Hotspots WispService
Maps Rate Places

That's it. Obviously if you want to use these related apps, the services will start up again.
Also, if there are any other services that are running for other apps you may have, kill if not needed on startup!
Two others that were running for me on start up that i killed were a Signal Strength widget and a To Do List Sync (TaskOS).

I'm not feeling up to killing just one at a time to determine which one was the culprit, but if you want to, feel free.

If you are having battery issues, give this a try!

I think there is definitely something wrong with the display usage reporting. On my un-rooted phone, i have NEVER seen this number below like 63%. That's even with insanely light use on most days.
So for a 10 hour day, with barely any use, the display has been on for six?! I don't think so.

Has anyone done any tests to confirm this?

Im sorry misunderstood what you said. Now I am seeing the same thing. The 2 hours was correct number the system gave me.
