Root I F**Ked up My HTC EVO

Newbie
i know u may hear this a lot about how ppl messed up their HTC evo.. i been trying 2 fix mine for about 2 months.
I rooted it with Unrevoked3, then i loaded Cygen 7mod rom on it.. but i didnt back up anything. now i have a rom OMJ's v4.6Deodexed. its kinda like stock so thats the only reason im not in a big panic.
I want to put my HTC evo back to Factory Stock like it just came out the box..
whatever u need to know about the phone i can tell u.. post back fast plz..

Easy to do, just do as Runvert said. All of the instructions are there in the "After Rooting" section to get you unrooted and back to "out of the box" stock.

dangit!!! you guys beat me to this post... quite badly i might add :( yeah dood, the instructions for returning to stock are in the guide.... pretty easy stuff, but why return to stock?

Wait do you want it stock unrooted or a rooted stock ROM? If you want to unroot go to the thread everyone has suggested, if you want a stock rooted ROM go to the same thread and find the flashing ROMs section, it should have a link to a list of ROMs and I know at least a couple on the list are stock rooted ROMs.

yeah, I was going to suggest flashing a rooted stock ROM. There's no reason to give up root. That's not why your phone is "F**Ked up." A stock ROM makes your phone work exactly as stock, but you retain superuser (su) permissions, which means you can run apps that require su. And later, you still have the option to try out different ROMs.

i assume he wants back to factory specs (i only say that cuz thats what he asked for LoL) i dunno tho ::splashes water in face:: youdoo needs to wake up, the can of dew n can of monster arent doing it for me today

u guys are the BESt ... my phone is back but i still have the superuser permission on the phone and i can still use the wireless teathering.. whats up with that.
and if u dnt mind me asking how can i extend this battery life that truely works

sounds to me like your rom is still rooted. I assume you flashed the s-on tool and turned security back on. BUT Did you also flash the PC36IMG for your software version? That would have rewritten your partitions to their defaults and effectively replaced your custom recovery and rooted rom (the other two aspects of full root)

yes i use it.. my rom is gone. im back to stock like i wanted 2 b.. but i think i know what it is.. but the subject of the battery life while on stock rom.. any ideas?

you dont have a ton of control but the biggest things are turning off data when you arent using data (WiFi, 4g, 3g). If you aren't surfing the net or whatever its unnecessary and eats your battery. Settings/wireless and networks or use widgets to change them quickly. add widget/settings. Also if you go to wireless and networks and then wifi settings and press menu and go to advanced you can change the wifi sleep policy so if you arent into toggling it on or off make sure its at least set to sleep after a while of inactivity.

Also increasing the time between auto syncing or turning it off entirely and manually syncing (things like Facebook, Google-gmail-contacts-books-etc, twitter, weather, stocks etc) look under accounts and sync for these also within the apps setting itself for twitter and FB etc.

Use the lowest screen brightness you can stand instead of auto should also increase life. Settings/display...

yes i use it, my rom is gone...? can you clarify that? Oh well sounds like you have it figured anyhow. if you want to pursue this issue we can...

After flashing the rom, did you use something like the battery calibration app to re-calibrate your battery? I've read somewhere, either here or xda, that you need to recalibrate your battery after you flash the rom. I know that I'm using a Sense based rom at the moment and on average use I'm getting about 17-20 hours battery life. When I wifi tether for about an hour or so, I get about 7-8 hours battery life.

i think he restored to the stock rom but kept his tether app. I think you can get better battery life with Evoms suggestions and also perhaps a kernel. I know i get a tad better than the previously mentioned batt life of 17-20, but (and you can ask Evom about this to verify LoL) i used to pi$$ and moan about poor batt life, but now i get at least a full days use outta the thing.... there are options for ya, but im thinking that the stock rom is gonna limit ya a tad
