oh dear GOD merging threads is so damn annoying. nobody has any idea wtf anybody is talking about.

there's gotta be a better way.

anyway, hooray for froyo

Oh, but there is. People need to look at the forum before they start a new thread. If there is already a thread (or 5) on that topic then they don't need to start a new thread. When people start doing that, then threads won't be merged because there won't be a need. Or do you think it would be easier to read through 25 Froyo threads on the first page?

Sorry TS, I ninja'd you on that one.

Why would you close this thread?? This is huge news people are going to want to go crazy talking about it.
I had closed one of the 5 threads until I got a chance to merge them, but OTD did that for me.

If folks were to place their posts in the correct thread instead of making so many we wouldn't have to step in and do merges, closings etc. Until that time comes, we we continue to do what needs to be done.

TS out

Wow. Did they not see the negative feedback of that crap constantly popping up after phone calls to buy bloatware?

Verizon is so incompetent.

Apparently they decided they would annoy us even more by including VZ navigator with this OTA... How much you wanna bet you can't remove it? Who the hell would use VZ navigator on an Android phone with google maps/nav?

Once again, if it is coming, somebody needs to tell VZW employees and their techs. Other than the picture above, nothing is known about it. Even for VZW, their people know, the day before a release.

If VZW employees are not talking about it now, something (again) not adding up.

Great news! I was just about to go out to my car and grab my usb cable for rooting. I guess I will wait for official 2.2 then see what the rooting gods do with it.

I prefer the root way, since no bloatware, more updates and options, but appreciate folks that would rather have a safe option.

haha no, i agree completely, there's nothing else a mod can do other than this. just sucks that people get SO excited they feel a need to post a new topic about something everybody is already learning about in another topic with a clearly posted title that explains such. haha

lol....totally agree.

I called them a bit ago and the guy said he sees nothing about the update. I told him that I was literally looking right at a pdf on Verizon's website that discusses the update. He even asked his supervisor who also said they have no info on this.

Unbelievable.

It's at least possible, maybe even probable, that low-level employees of a large company are encouraged not to talk about an update before management has made an official announcement. that doesn't strike me as odd at all.

I think this is nothing more than further validation that these VZW reps how ZERO idea what is happening!

Another member posted an email a few pages back that they received today from some VP at executive relations that emphatically stated there was no scheduled update!

It's like "hello left hand, I'm the right hand...what are you up to?"

Is there any proof that there is a SCHEDULED update? I think all we know is that shits in place for an update. I don't think we know that it has been scheduled yet.

Oh, it has probably been "scheduled" for a year now..granted it's also probably changed a dozen times. They have so much going on, they have to schedule things very far out...the part that matters is "getting the shit in place." that, and actually finding out WHAT the schedule is:)

I've had my DInc since launch day and would like to start fresh with Froyo. What are the steps I need to perform (besides the obvious backup apps/files).

Should this been done before the OTA or after?
