That list says Automatic App Updates.

That's NOT cool. There better be a setting to stop that.

You are doing just what the websites wants you to do.
You are creating traffic and visitors to their website.

I'm not saying it isn't going to happen, I just am saying I am not going to wait around all day tomorrow waiting for it, just because some website has a picture of another website on it with tomorrows date.

The vzw docs do not have a date. That means that they told their internet department we need to start planing for the update that is coming soon (maybe tomorrow, maybe in two weeks).

I would love it if it was tomorrow, but I am not going to be expecting it tomorrow.

I was going to root my phone this weekend because I really want/need the wireless Hotspot in Froyo. This news is really good timing.

Yah I read it. But that is just vzw getting ready for update.
Doesn't mean it is today or tomorrow it just means soon.

I am just saying I will not have my hopes up for tomorrow, simply because simply because this website has a picture of another website that says it is tomorrow:

"Soon" I agree with. Tomorrow maybe. But I will not be counting on it "tomorrow" is all I am saying.

I really hope I am surprised tomorrow.
 
You know I had to merge these together. Sorry if some posts make a little less sense than they did before.

Congrats on getting 2.2 guys and girls!

I'm looking forward to see what 2.2 with Sense will be adding.


BTW, all the floating redirects will disappear in about an hour.

Not true.
VZW posts these docs typically a day or two prior to the update...

Look at the turmoil around here for the last 2 months with NO documents posted and an utter refusal by them to even acknowledge this was happening.

Do you really think they would post the instructions and feature docs and then not roll the update for another 4 months?
 
Seeing as how this will be a complete OS upgrade, will we be left with a phone in stock condition? Or, will our apps and data still be there?

Oh, I believe in Santa Claus, and I know he comes on Dec. 25th.
But 2.2 will come soon. I just don't know if it will come tomorrow simply because it is on a website that has a picture of another website with tomorrows date on it.
 
what does "OTD" mean????? are we going to be able to get it manually rather than wait. The DROID was last to get in my area. If we can get it ourselves that would be great. But I don't know what "OTD" means

It should also be pointed out that they would not know the build number months out. In fact, they probably wouldn't even know the build number weeks out.

I think tomorrow is a likely day: However, this does not mean you will get it tomorrow. Remember that they come out in waves, and either have patience or grab the RUU that appears to be the official release ( it matches the build and baseband numbers. )

It's a new option in the 2.2 Market. Once you install an app you can open its market page and select automatic updates. It's not enabled by default, you have to manually select to get the auto updates.
 
Keep in mind that if you use the leaked RUU it WILL wipe your device and you'll have to reinstall all your apps. I'm used to that from my Windows Mobile days and didn't mind it.
 
Check what Verizon is promising:

Good point zemerick!

Remember people, VZW's model is to roll out a few thousand initial updates and then start sending it out in larger bunches...what that means for us is you could get it tomorrow or any time in the next two weeks.
