I am definitely looking into that cupholder and cigarette lighter combo (no I'm really not)

So now I need a case. My girl got her taxes so we went to IKEA. Which happens to be real close to microcenter;)
She surprised me by saying in ahead and build one, I told her would like to spend between 6 and 8 hundred, she said ok:D
So I picked up
Amd 1090T x6
Corsair 8gig 1600ddr3
Ati gigabyte 5770 gddr5 1gig
Asus m4a89gtd pro/usb3
Seagate 1.5tb 7200
Card reader
Dvd burner
Inlandpro il gold 600 watt psu

I feel like I'm 8 and It's Christmas morning!

Psu was on sale for 40bucks, never heard of the brand but dude said it was a good buy.

Anyone heard of it? Thoughts?

There is a reason why he said that's a good buy, because they are trying to get rid of them, also, I have never heard of that brand...you need to take that back and get a Corsair or something similar....

That's what I was thinking. Except something similar was 70 bucks more.:( gonna read some reviews when I get around a computer.

This is the pSu... on the fence about keeping it. Seems its a microcenter brand, can't find any other mention of it on Google.

Take it from me store brands suck. You risk destroying your computer if it goes bad. You can go on Tiger Direct or Newegg and find a decent corsair or antec for $80-90.

You wouldn't spend $100,000 for heart surgery for your Dad and then get his pacemaker at Wal-Mart would you? That is about the same as putting a cheap power supply in an otherwise well built computer. A good power supply and a well built case are two very important components that will help keep your computer running well for a long time.

Great analogy, lol. Good point also.

That's essentially what I was thinking, and what I told the sales dude. Of course this other dude was eager to sell me something more expensive.

I ended up with a seasonic x660 gold. And I swapped the graphics for a diamond 5850. Went ahead and got an antec 900 II. When I get home I'll post some links, I'm eager to get thoughts on the final components.....

I would definitely trust the SeaSonic PSU, they have been making power supplies a long time for rebranding to other companies. Antec cases have always been some of my favorite, and you can never go wrong with a steel case. That Antec 900 II should make for a very nice well cooled power house!

I figured there were better picks, even though I know dude was trying to get his commission. I appreciate the feedback though for real, thanks.

Might start a thread in a little bit about which heatpink to use though. Not sure if i wanna use the stock one.....

I always get aftermarket heatsinks, I have the Corsair A50 :)

I have something very similar to that over in the corner with my spare parts. The HS that came the 6-core monster is pretty heavy duty. Though because of the board i got it automatically OC's it to 3.7 per core. Doesn't seem to be running very hot though.

Took me forever to get it built today, then have driver/scaling issues, didn't get settled with my programs installed till 11ish. (pm) One thing buggin me is because of the set up the GC is upside down, fan is blowing straight down and about 2 inches below that the psu is blowing straight up, again not that big of a deal but wish GC was facing the other direction.

Here's a quick pic of the FINALLY done beast

3.7GHz per core? My hexa core is only at 2.8GHz, whats your processors temps when it's idle/under load?

51 c is what it is saying. The overclocking is automatic, just push a button on the motherboard, couldn't resist that. Hell its already 3.2 per.

Is that idle or under load?
123F under load isn't bad, but if it's 123F when it's idle, that sounds problematic.

Thats on start up when i go to bios. i'ven't thought to check it while just sitting around logged in. I stuck with the stock heatsink/fan because it seemed fairly big, but i do have a $30 dollar one laying around in the box, its on of those tall ones. don't remember what brand though, will check when i get home.

Odd thing though is it frezzes on boot screen almost half the time. After troubleshooting for HOURS my guess is that it seems to be connected to the hitachi 1tb external. Sometimes it doesn't show up in 'my computer'. As soon as i unplug it all my problems go away.

Hmmm, thats a bit high to be running at consistently (which it probably is, though I could be wrong). Overclocking the Phenom x6 seems to be a bit of pain to do without that motherboard though, so I think I'll just keep it at 2.8GHz for now. I might bump it up to 3GHz sometime in the future, possible higher if I invest in better cooling.

best trick is get a low budget pc case with what you want (as for a clear panel)
then buy the paint you want
and finally a little bodywork on your pc case and here you get what you wanted for cheap

like back in 2003 i bought this
Xaser_II_a5000a_plus.jpg

paid 250$ in march 2003

and now this is what it looks like today
and i know my colors doesn't match perfectly (this is due to different mats" case: solid 1mm thick steel, front pannel: plastic and door: alu")

pannel rivets are metallic red (red metal flakes + red metalcast over gray primer)(also from old paintjob)
green: (same reciepe as red but green)
