Root ICS/CM9-JB/CM10 Development Thread

Fixed the radio. For what it's worth, CM broke it, not JB. frameworks/base commit fc2cbe9b adds a new RIL command that causes the Marquee rild to segfault. Easy fix: don't do that. ;)

Forgot to mention that gps is not working either. But that was expected.

Sooooooo .... I think we're rapidly approaching where we left off in alpha2 last episode. I think I'll drop a ROM later today for testing.

Use the jellybean gapps from goo.im.

As always do a full wipe before install.

Note this is a test ROM. Not everything works. It may not stable. I have only tested it so far on my developer phone which doesn't have service.

Please give the ROM a spin and let me know what else does or doesn't work besides the things mentioned below. But please check this thread first so we don't get a bunch of duplicate reports.

Things that should work: screen, buttons, phone, 3g, wifi, audio, bluetooth.

Things that don't work: gps, cameras.

Notes:

wifi was a bit finicky in my testing, it may or may not be my local environment. Let me know if wifi has issues connecting and/or staying connected.

audio routing seems to have issues. Specifically, audio doesn't seem to go through bluetooth.

3g has not been tested at all due to not having service, but the patches have been applied and it is likely to work.

Holy Crap! I'm running JB on my Sprint Marquee! Will wonders never cease?

edit: 3g and wifi working fine for me so far, phone connects but audio problems as mentioned by tdm

I have data and phone on sprint. I called my voicemail to test out the phone, it uses speakerphone as default.

I've yet to be able to get it to connect with my PC through USB Connection. It just loads and loads......then nothing......then loads some more. I have data and phone as well.

Edit: I went into CWM and it automatically formatted my sd card. Weird. I think something is crosswired or something. Now when I go to Turn on USB storage and select it the sd card unmounts.
 
Some more notes...

Looks like audio routing is probably the most serious issues right now. I'll dig into that soon. Also I cheated and used the audio.primary.default.so lib from the CM build, so that still needs to get solved as well.

I think the cameras and updated kernel should go hand in hand. I'll be trying to build CM's sniper ics kernel to check that out. If any of you other devs want to try, it shouldn't be hard to swap out kernels and camera libs. My build should have the same settings as the CM p970 build (ICS_CAMERA_BLOB and such). Oh, and I didn't pull in the dozen or so TI hardware libs that the CM nightly has. They may be relevant for the camera.

The BT mac address is wrong, just as it was in my ics builds. Need to investigate, but it's kinda low priority.

I haven't published jellybean sources to my github yet, partially because I want to fix a few more things first. But if anyone really wants to build from source, let me know and I can either publish to github or drop a source tree.

You mean mass storage, right? I didn't try that (obviously). I habitually use adb for everything... ;)

On boost, mms wouldn't send. Didn't just close the messaging app though just kept spinning while sending. 3g is a no go for me, going to try a fresh flash and see if that does it but Wi-Fi and regular messaging are working.

Been playing with it for about 2 hours now though, smooth and buttery :)
 
So far so good. I haven't found anything TDM didn't already specify other than the SD mounting hiccup that may be only on my device. It is running exceptionally buttery smooth. I don't know about mms because I use handcent.

Mms depends on a 3g connection.
 
MMS on boost mobile working fine for me. Like someone said before, calls are defaulting to speaker phone with no way to change it.

Also noticed that any voice input for text to speech doesn't work, but it works fine on calls. Not too sure what's going on there. Haven't noticed much else but I'll keep testing.

Edit: oops, the MMS didn't actually send. I tried mmsing to an email address and it says it went through but i never actually get the email. I also just tried to send an mms straight back to myself and it hangs on sending.

Edit 2: I tried rebooting after attempting to send the MMS and completely lost data, no idea how that happened, and I can't figure out how to get it back outside of a clean install.
 
Flashed on Boost. It's smooooth man. Nothing to report that hasn't already been mentioned except that I can't access the gallery. Other than that, AWESOME! :D

I did another flash 3g came on just fine after that. MMS still is stuck on sending, though it wants to trick me into thinking it is working lol. Anyone else able to use the google sound search widget at all? It just keeps telling me request failed, it's a tiny thing I know but I like the JB sound search better than shazam or sound hound :p
 
Holly cr*p! this thing is fast!! ... running at 1.3GHz still a good temperature.
The only thing to report but it only happen once, when i locked/off the screen it wont wake up again, i had to take off the battery.

You probably set the min clock to low for your phone.
