Root ICS/CM9-JB/CM10 Development Thread

don't get too excited guys, tdm or somebody will probably have a release built from source before I can fix this lol. I just wanted to see if I could get it to boot and if the camera was working. the new 3.0.8 kernel is so different from 2.6.35.14 I have no idea whats breaking usb in it so I can't debug anything.

looks like wifi is broken too.

here it is in case anyone wants to mess with it: cm10test_marquee.zip

this is the official cm10 for the optimus black. the only things I've changed in it are the updater-script/binary and the partition mounting in the ramdisk.

wifi doesn't work
usb doesn't work (phone may also do random reboots if you have it plugged in)
ril doesn't work (so no cell/3g)
video record doesn't work.

definitely can feel the butter. i dig the notification menu too.

With the camera working on this ROM, will that be useful in the others ROMS? MIUI , CM9, etc to make the camera works on those ?

That's a good question. I remember some 1 saying a while back that things will be easier to get working on JB if they r working on ICS so i d assume so. But I'm no developer. I am now on the evo 4g running CNA unofficial CM10 and it is the most stable JB ROM I tested on evo. I must say the marquee is a much better phone. But I traded my sprint marquee for to sprint evo 4g with good ESN. But dnt matter flashed both to boost ne wayz. Boy I miss my marquee. But my boost marquee gave it to my lil sis. She dnt like it. I'm like well u want an evo..... hahaha o well. Blows me away y'all r working. On JB Haha... good luck you guys. Its awesome. Google now is the shizzle.

I now have cm10 building from source but of course I can't get it to boot, even using the same boot.IMG bloodawn provided in the test ROM. Can't figure out why anything I build won't boot. :banghead::banghead: Need to get adb working.

Are you getting errors when compiling?

I've officially dropped ics now. Got a good thunderc build and close to a sniper build. Not quite there yet, but I expect a good build tomorrow. Then I can join craptorman in figuring out the boot failure.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't see this coming and what gets me is this has become a norm in the dev scene. Not even a beta released before a project is scrapped. #SadTimes it's enough to make you go Apple. I mean really what's the use of open source development if a project is never seen all the way threw. Ahhhhhhhhh! If only I could bring my self to buy a Yphone... Whelp the galaxy s 2 sure is starting to look a lot more appealing lol.

Bpaul updated his unofficial black rom.

Dropping ics to build jb. I'd say it's an even trade and worth the wait. It's possible a working build of cm10 could give them what is needed to make the ics builds more solid. All in the name of progress still, think positively. We have awesome devs on this phone, and I appreciate all that is done.

There was an official ics release for the korean version of the phone, optimus black is *supposedly getting any official before october. We could have many things working in the next coming week. hopefully

Not like I need to defend myself.. I do what I want, I owe nothing to anyone (there's that donation thing, see?) But you can see how long I've supported the thunderc and how well it works. If I didn't care about users, I'd not even bother and switch exclusively to the vs920. But I do care. And I consider jb to be an incremental release over ics, so I'm switching. I don't think anyone else is going to complain. But feel free to use another ROM or phone.

I believe with this korean version the camera source is now available on LG's site. The camera has been the hangup for several phones.

Are you getting errors when compiling?

Just the normal little warnings. Spent an hour or so getting rid of errors that where preventing it from building. I've had this same problem since the last cm7 build I posted. Same source but it never wants to boot. Multiple machines, fresh installs, CM7, CM9, CM10, no change. May have to start a build and send the output to a file so I can go thru that and see if anything jumps out at me.

Have you been able to logcat anything or does it not even get that far?

On the CM7 build it gets a few lines in and then just keeps looping. Nothing obvious that I recall, haven't looked back at CM7 in awhile.
