If Sprint released the Evo3D and SGS2 and Photon on the same day which would you pick?

Which phone if all 3 on the same day ?

This review by brandom compares the s2 to the sensation. It only covers the software (mostly browsing) not battery life, reception, et all. The screen on the evo3d is not the same as the sensation so that aspect will be off. In the video you can see the s2 blue tint; but the sensation has a warm yellowish tint and looks a bit washed out. The performance aspect will be similar to the evo3d (and I noticed some of the brief stalls in other evo3d demos).

HTC Sensation vs Samsung Galaxy S 2

(not sure if this post belongs here or the top post (wirefire review) or maybe both equally).

[Unconfirmed] Samsung Galaxy S II Coming To Verizon In July | Android News, Apps, Games, Phones, Tablets - Android Police

I trust it's still coming out on Sprint based off separate scuttlebutt!

No way in hell I'm signing w/ 'Big Red', even for this phone...

The biggest challenge will be waiting until the end of the year once July 24th hits!

I am trying to find where I read this but I was under the impression that Samsung was trying to launch it simultaneously on all the major carriers at once. So I think (I always throw out the disclaimer I could be wrong) Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile are all getting it at the same time. At least that is what Samsung is attempting to do. This is their flagship.

Rule one we pass out to people on rooting: read, read, read before begining and then begin by reading. People keep telling me it's impossible to brick these modern phones by rooting. They just haven't seen the posts I've seen. People can, will, and actually have tried flashing stuff with 80 warnings that his is for Brand A, Model B only - onto their shiney new Brand C phones. End of story, get the mortar to go with the new brick.

This is the only nice thing about the encrypted bootloaders on Moto phones. No matter what you do to /system, you can't mess with the bootloader. So if /system goes south, you can just reflash the stock stuff from the bootloader.

The SGS2 just got a confirmed release date for Verizon:
Samsung Galaxy S II confirmed for July touch down at Verizon - Phone Arena

Also there is speculation it will not be a 4G phone. This is not a factor for me because Phoenix AZ has no Sprint-4G at all & I won't sign a contract with Verizon...

Here is the Sprint "leak" from last week too:
AndroidSPIN AS Exlusive: Sprint Source Confirms Late July Release for the Samsung Within (Galaxy S 2)

**UPDATE**
After all this, guess what? There was a miscommunication and the device actually coming out in July at Verizon is the Galaxy Tab 10.1, not the Samsung Galaxy S II. Apparently, somone at Verizon goofed. Nevermind!

Wow, that looks impressive. The only thing I wonder is if the display is PenTile or RGB. Motorola usually goes with PenTile and I personally wouldn't buy one if that's the case. The form factor & specifications are really nice looking.

Also,
Ability to utilize the webtop application while connected to a Motorola accessory dock
Interesting! Plus no mention of Motoblur, which is great. =)

I'd be happy if they stopped carrier differentiation beyond the radios on the SGS2 in the US. (Not fair to my Epic buddies that like their keyboards, but it's just my opinion.)

If you like updates like me, then you don't want to hear your Sammy-loving brothers in the US being months the rest of the world, as happened with the SGS line.

And yep, fwiw - I'd read the rumor that they'll all roll out together, but that'll be up to the carriers as much as Samsung, but that's 100% a guess.

Good for Sprint to get more top of the line choices, but this thing doesn't offer anything that would even remotely make me think of getting it vs the 3D (though I did like the fact that the kickstand, when pulled out, changes the screen orientation)

I've gotta be honest. Being a first time Android buyer this is a very hard decision and one that frankly (even with a Evo 3D pre-ordered) I still feel like I haven't made. I don't really know the right choice here.

It's even stranger to have all these choices on Sprint because usually Sprint has like "the one" phone everyone wants and there is really no choice to be made. This year they're going to have three super-smartphones releasing all within 3 months of each other.

You've got the Evo3D sporting it's 3D qHD display and HTC Sense 3.0, the Galaxy S2 with it's Super AMOLED Plus & insane hardware, & now we have the Photon with a Tegra 2 & its world phone capabilities.

Best bet is to wait until this fall when they've all been released and reviewed... but some of us can't wait that long. You talk to the respective communities for each device and they'll tell you to buy their brand device. (Of course) It's hard to get a non-biased opinion for your perspective choice & with no experience to go on, this is a hard decision for a technologically inclined first time Android buyer like myself.

In my personal opinion after really shopping, learning, and looking into it... I feel like HTC is going to give you that great build quality, qHD display, & great customer service. Samsung is going to give you the top of the line specs, that s-AMOLED-p display, & the thin/light form-factor. Motorola is somewhere in the middle probably.

ArmageddonX - I predict that you're going to be so blown away by Android that by the end of the first few days you'll have forgotten that there was a phone to choose. Very briefly after that, you'll be in love with your phone because it's making Android come through so very well.

You're in a lot less trouble than you think. :)

Trust me. ;)

If I were on the fence, and the Photon has Blur (some places are saying it does, others are saying it doesn't) that would take it out of the equation completely for me. It isn't a good skin in my opinion.

I also wouldn't buy a Samsung phone with touchwiz for the same reason. Another knock, in my opinion, against Samsung is the "thin/light" thing. I beleive there is such a thing as too light and the build quailty of the Samsung phones feels so cheap. I like a little weight and stability and Samsung doesn't provide that.

All 3 are great phones, don't get me wrong, but the reason we have so many phones is because everyone likes different things. That is the beauty of Android. Those rotten fruit fanboys have 2 choices, black or white, and to me, that isn't much of a choice.

Viva la Android

I'm having the same dilemma. Thing is I think I've just plain run out of patience and will at the very minimum get the Evo 3D and if I don't like it I'll take it back switch back to my blackberry then wait for either the Moto or Samsung.

I found it amusing that samsung gave the xda folks free phones to develop roms for them :)

Anyways I want to see what the antenna and sound is like on these phones before I pick; i prefer thin/light and the photon is about the same weight as the evo3d; but probably a bit thinner if you ignore the hump at the end.
-
don't know about you all but this a phone and i want it to have good reception and be able to hear whom I'm talking to in a noisy environment.

LoL! You saw that too!?? I was laughing a little bit inside especially after the Cyanogen Developer Tweet'ed "You will not hear me bad-mouth Samsung again!" :o - - - I thought sarcastically to myself "Well, that sounds impartial at least." :p
You're in a lot less trouble than you think. :)

Ohh, I believe you. I'm making mountains out of mole hills, as they say. I guess it's in my nature... but still... I'm terrified I'm going to purchase device "A" & then suddenly realize I should have bought device "B" instead.
...the Phonton has Blur (some places are saying it does, others are saying it doesn't) that would take it out of the equation completely for me. It isn't a good skin in my opinion.
Same here. I wouldn't ever get a phone with Motorblur.
OTOH, I'm wearing my asbestos boxers because I know a lot of people love the Samsung experience.
My Wife's best friend has a Fascinate and she loves it. She & my Wife say "The screen is pretty & it does everything I need it to."

Yeah, it's gotta be difficult (but kinda fun as well I hope) selecting a phone... although honestly, there a ton of good phones out now so there aren't too many bad choices.

On the Photon... looks interesting. I typically really like motorola's build quality and, at least on the droid X that I used to own, they tend to have good battery life and good reception.

The one issue I have is that it seems that a lot of the tegra 2 based phones have had stability issues, random reboots, software glitches... maybe those issues will have been ironed out by the time the photon has been released. I wonder if nvidia rushed that platform to market a bit too early.

The Photon does looks nice but I would imagine it will be a while before we see it.

Sprint will want to give the Evo 3D a big boost before they release the Moto. I expect they will release the Photon middle to end of August.

Does look nice but I will stick to the E3D.

I thought knowing was half the battle? :p

Don't torture yourself - that's what mods are for.

~~~~
Back to topic - for me, it comes down to the 3vo or the SGS2. But with my happy customer experiences with HTC, I'm going to stick with the 3vo. (The worldphone feature on the Photon is instantly making me nuts, tho.)
Analogy: fans want you to believe that choices in a superphone is as radical as a Corvette vs. a Pinto vs. a Corvair.
In reality, it's closer to Audi vs. Mercedes vs. BMW - that's what I think.
I 100% agree with EarlyMon. There are some that really hate on other Android phones trying to one-up one another, but ultimately, it's Android that is a winning OS (regardless of the device) that really does make the phone experience what it is.
I was a diehard WindowsMobile person, just because it served more business purposes for me, but ever since I got the EVO and Android, I will never go back to a Microsoft mobile OS phone ever. The experience on Android, for me, has been a WORLD of difference and made my life much more convenient overall.
