If Sprint released the Evo3D and SGS2 and Photon on the same day which would you pick?

Which phone if all 3 on the same day ?

Also it took about 2 weeks for the Epic to get most of its problems fixed like the low 3g speeds problem, so you really don't know what you're talking about.

I'd just like the maker to produce the 2011 phones by learning from the 2010 crop and ship without issues - regardless of Sammy or HTC.

Some people are still having their Evo ports die - some people still can't get GPS working on their SGS variants.

When these guys step up the game and deliver to consumers instead of to the marketing departments, then we'll be getting somewhere.

In my opinion.

Samsung.... If you look at my electronic devices, you'd think I was a Samsung fanboy. All my monitors dating back to 2001 have been Samsung S-PVAs. I decided on a Samsung HDTV after years of research and deliberation into the various technologies and image quality... Three of the 5 cell phones I've ever owned were Samsungs by choice (they were all flip-phones) because of their call quality and speaker volume. I've recommended Samsung products to friends and family.

Yet when it comes to smart phones, I really don't like their stuff. And I'm not one of those people who was burned by a Samsung phone. Just at face value, when I play with one, they don't appeal to me. I guess this proves I was never really a fanboy. I still think the company produces a lot of good stuff, but in the smartphone arena, I think HTC is a better choice.

I actually do want to like a Samsung phone, and I'm looking forward to trying out a Galaxy S2 to see if it's more in line with my expectations. But this round, I'm pretty set on Evo 3D. But I'll always be on the lookout for the next Samsung offering.

I'm so over HTC and their devices.

The 3d looks cool and for once this phone doesn't look like nearly
every HTC design but HTC seems like they spit too many devices
out and sometimes the devices seem half-baked

i still remember my evo screen coming apart from my phone

Samsung makes great products and I'd gladly take a GS2 over an Evo 3d

HTC EVO 3D n I cant wait for it to come out ......SGS2 has its thing going on..
I got the EVO since it came out and I switched it for the epic and it was the
a bad choice ....so since then I have never left my EVO ....

You were good, kid, real good. But as long as the HTC EVO 3D
around YOU WILL ALWAYS BE SECOUND BEST

Fyi: slashgear has their review of the sensation out. It doesn't cover things like reception (quality of antennae) but other basics are covered.

HTC Sensation Review - SlashGear

The known differences between evo3d and sensation are:
4gb instead of 1gb
duel 5gb camera instead of 8gb
(not sure if front camera is the same)
battery is a bit larger
-
The positive: battery last 1+ days; screen was decent
-

The review aside; some of the pictures they took of the two phones side-by-side had some really good examples I might use in the future to show the difference between qHD-LCD and S-AMOLED+ to somebody else. The color and resolution differences are really obvious in the photo's.

Yeah baby - dual-core FTW! :)

And that's with a smaller battery - w00t!

From the article, regarding the benchmarking comparison:

What the raw figures don’t communicate is how responsive the Sensation feels in daily use. Side-by-side with the Galaxy S II, and it’s hard to tell the difference between the two phones: apps load quickly, webpages render at the same pace (in fact the Flash-heavy NYTimes.com frontpage finished on the HTC before it did on the Samsung). Even loaded down with simultaneously running apps, we didn’t feel like the Sensation was gasping for breath (or, indeed, for more RAM).

On battery:

HTC quote up to 495 minutes talktime or up to 400 hours standby from the 1,520 mAh battery; having experienced two days use from a single charge on the Galaxy S II, we were eager to see how well HTC’s power management would perform on the Sensation. In practice, with push email turned on, periodic social network refreshes, some Google Maps and browsing use, and after 30 minutes of streaming TV using the BBC iPlayer app (using the Sensation’s speaker rather than headphones), and by the evening the handset was still showing around quarter of its charge.
That suggests that, with some judicious power management, you could get some way into the second day with the Sensation on a single battery. Not quite the performance of the Galaxy S II, but decent compared to the previous HTC Desire HD which was quite the glutton for juice.

Yes. They're both wrong - again.

What do you mean?

Colors - OLED tech looks blue, LCD looks warm - referring to the pic of the FFC exchange - skin tones were more natural (yet muted) on the hands holding the camera on the HTC - and unless that was a blue wall, the OLED tech is still oversaturating.

Goes back to the first discussion you and I had - without color and contrast adjustments, all you can do is pick your poison.

We all see proper color the same, it looks like the real world -- but we do not see improper color the same way and all we can do is develop biases and preferences for whichever is least offensive.

And that's presuming that you and I are seeing the same images on our computers - mine's gamma-adjusted.

And then, there's the whole looking at a picture (my computer) of a picture (taken by slashgear) of a picture (the devices themselves) of a picture (taken by the FFCs of the devices themselves).

So - I'm not going to get too worked up personally, but that's my criteria for saying they're both wrong.

Why would it launch with 2.2 when the UK Version launched with 2.3.3 and its the same phone, that's a stupid comment. The Epic didn't have a Official FroYo until late but it did have leaked FroYo since November or December. Samsung's support does suck but they still deliver with their devices, especially hardware. How about you read some reviews on the phone before you make statements about it.

Samsung Galaxy S II review -- Engadget

I've read it. And you obviously missed my entire point!!!! MARKETING!!! You get it???? Right now, you are hook, line, and sinker!!!!

I have rooted Epics and have installed Froyo. ANd still delivers on the hardware??? There are STILL people with GPS issues at this very moment(pardon the pun)...alarmingly it is the exact issues we had with the Moment. I don't know what that tells you but it tells me that Samsung is completely out of touch with it's hardware and with it's customers.

And comparing a leaked ROM to stock is like comparing an $80k modified Honda Civic to my stock ZO6....and then my ZO6 spanks it in every aspect anyway....and looks better....and sounds better....and chicks dig it...lol, We can argue stock vs modified all day long and in the end it is apples and oranges.

And I apologize for my rant....I was writing as soon as I untied the tourniquet and the caffeine was rushing to my brain!!!:p I will spare Samsung their TVs...they seem nice. But I just couldn't do it after intense research.

Guys - as I noted earlier - Samsung vs HTC debates can go on forever.

Further Epic or Evo debates ought be taken to appropriate threads in those forums.

I'll have the last word in this debate - then it's back to 3vo vs SGS2, please:

The point is made - different people, all being completely reasonable and using their own personal experiences, come to different conclusions on whether to support the Samsung brand.

/last word on whether the Epic sucked or not - thankyou ;)

(I know - it spoils the fun - but 10 out of 9 lurkers agree - they get it, whatever it is)

I'm actually really jealous of you guys getting your Evo3Ds soon. It's such a nice phone and is a really nice upgrade to the Evo4G. I have to wait another few months for the SGSII or the Nexus 3 =(

This is just the friendliest Forum and it's fun to be around people excited about their upcoming upgrade! =)

On-Topic: Evo3D vs SGSII. I went and played with Sense vs TouchWiz for about an hour each yesterday. I'm going to take a lot of heat over saying this; but on a personal level I liked TouchWiz more. Also, I prefer the color in the S-AMOLED+ to the higher resolution qHD-LCD. Finally, I really have no interest in 3D whatsoever... kinda seals the deal for me. If I was a big fan of Sense, HTC, and loved 3D the Evo3D would be my choice, no questions asked.

There is no "best" phone though. It's what phone is best for you, personally.

What phone did you try that has the qHD-LCD? And I wouldn't be quick to judge Sense based on earlier versions because Sense 3.0, which will be on the EVO, looks like it's night and day difference.

"By relying on external storage, HTC has also bypassed the EXT4 filesystem, one of the factors which we saw speed up performance on the Galaxy S II. EXT4 support arrived in Android 2.3, but the Sensation

How many of you commenting in this thread have read or skimmed the Galaxy s2 forum:
Samsung Galaxy S2 - Android Forums
-
I've personally been skimming it once or twice a week from before creation of this thread and have been relatively impressed at the few issues raised (remember when there are issues with a phone the forum tends to get flooded with complaints; as was the case with the GPS in galaxy S). The biggest consistent complaint I've seen is max volume is a bit lower than a few would like and an the usual occasional glitches with andriod (wake up from sleep and similar). A couple of folks have had minor wifi issues (signal strength not quite as strong as other devices; but it sounds relatively minor and might be software). Oh yea a few also expressed their dislike for the super saturated amoled screen but this is nothing new and tends to be matter of personal preference.

Look again. I mod there, I read all of it. Did you see the battery complaints? Taking forever to charge for some, and many others not getting a full day's use.

How about the guy who lost airplane mode on his phone but not his wife's. The list there is bigger than you've noticed, it seems.

Check out how the SGS 3, yes 3, will single-handedly destroy Apple with its mighty SAMOLED PLUS screen, soon to be qHD, the only good qHD. See the attacks for anyone suggesting SAMOLED can have burn-in. (Yes. It can. See the Captivate forum for one.)

It's a phone, it's a Samsung. Watch the invective and catcalling that occurs when people complain (as much as I've left behind). Faithful is a word.

Beware of people with signal strength issues claiming a software update will probably fix it. That was the early SGS dismissal for GPS.

Yea - I saw a *lot* of one off complaints which sounds like either user erorr or qa issues. I've been more focused on large scale design flaws (such as GPS in version 1).
-
In no way am I claiming the sg2 is the phone to get or the perfect phone. However most of the htc phones also have various flaws that leave them far from perfect (if for no other reason no single phone is perfect for everyone :) )
-
My biggest concerns with the sg2 right now is antenna quality for hte various radios (sensation seemed to score well here from the youtube review)

and I would like to hear both phones (not speaker but in phone mode); it seems that max volume might be an issue on sg2.
-
However having said that the htc (well sensation) has a number of issues so it is clearly not the greatest thing since sliced bread either.
-
Anyways if sprint take another decade (sarcasm) to release a 2nd generation phone or waste time on a flawed phone (atrix) I'll probably get impatient and jump ship making the point mute for me.
-
Last but least I am assuming the evo3d will share a lot of commonality with the sensation which might be false; some known differences:
22 grams heavier than the heavy sensation
4g vs 1gb
1gb vs 768mb
dual 5mp rare camera
3d display
talk time 7.5 hours vs 6.5 hours

Oh well time will tell.
