Root [International] Flashing Roms

Hey guys,

Yesterday i rooted my International Galaxy s3 :D I am planning on flashing cm10 nightly (Since they don't have a milestone for international). But i have a couple of questions.

1)How do i know if i unlocked bootloader? I have cwm Recovery and also SuperSU.

2)Say that i flashed cm10 and i dont like it. Is all i need to do restore my nandroid back up?

3)If im on touchwiz and there is a new update for samsung. Will i lose root if i update?

4)How stable is cm10 nightlies for international galaxy s3?

1. All i9300's come with an unlocked bootloader.

2. Yep just restore your nandroid to go back to an whatever you were on before.

3. Don't accept any official updates while rooted as a custom recovery is likely to mess things up. If you wanted to update your stock firmware you would have to manually flash with Odin. You would lose root unless you use mobile Odin and tick keep root. If you flash an updated custom ROM you will keep root.

4. Sorry, don't know.
 
#4 i tried the latest CM10.1 nightly and it was perfect apart from the wifi tethering doesnt work :thumbup:
 
Thanks I'm probably going to download it tonight if I have time. Good to know I can restore nandroid if I don't like it. One last question will Titanium Backup have all my backup when I flash a new rom? Also will I need to wipe everything on Cm10 before doing a nandroid restore?
 
Yeah. just do a batch restore once you reboot after flashing :thumbup:
Remember you have to flash the google apps package aswell because CM doesnt include them
 
One last thing again :P When i was looking at where my backup is on Rom manager it said it was on /sdcard/cwm/backup. But when i go on my computer it says it is on phone-clockworkmod-backup. Doesnt that mean it will get deleted when i do factory reset and wipe data?
 
Nah factory reset in a custom recovery like CWM doesnt wipe that part of the memory mate :thumbup:
 
Ah, by the way, there's no telling if the CWM you got from Rom Manager has the SDS fix, you should flash Philz Recovery (based on CWM) or TWRP. However, check whether your eMMC is affected by using eMMC Brickbug check. If it shows FwRev: 0xf1, you are affected.

1) How do i get rid of lock animation?
2) My titanium backup is gone. I dont have anything backed up. I dont know why that happened because you said it doesnt get deleted :/.

I dont know about lock animation mate, i dont use a lock.
So you reset the phone within recovery mode before flashing? (You didnt factory reset in the phones settings?)
 
If you've gone to Android 4.2.2 your internal SD card contents will be in a different place. Look in mnt/sdcard/0 and everything should be in there. You might have to move your Titanium Backup folder from /0/ to /sdcard in order for the app to recognise it (that's what I had to do anyway)
 
My titanium found the backup file without me moving it. Hadnt even thought of that tbh lol. It would have FREAKED me out if titanium hadnt found it :)
I hope thats the problem and dude didnt use the stock factory reset man :thumbup:
 
I went into recovery. Cleared data/factory reset. Cleared d cache. Clear cache. Install from zip.\

Also is it possible to have the screen light up when i get any notification?
 
70% battery usage. But i rebooted and it says it is 30 % right now. Apparently that is only temp though. I am thinking about downloading the Franco's kernel. And no, i downloaded the apps manually.

Ive never tried Franko, im a big lover of Siyah kernel.
Yeah the battery monitor can be a bit off after flashing a new rom but charging it overnight then running it down to 0 a few times should fix it :thumbup:
 
I've got nothing but praise for Franco's work. He's a well respected developer and I run his kernels on all my nexus devices.

Wasn't aware he was working on the s3
 
Are they overclockable mate?
Yeah Dillon, make sure the kernel is for i9300 and make a nandroid 1st :thumbup:
