Root Is OTA 2.3 rootable yet?

I SBF'd back to Froyo to get the OTA 2.3 update and I am getting annoyed by it. No root = no OC'ing = slow and laggy! Someone recommended Gingerbreak, but has that been proven to work in rooting the OTA 2.3 update? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Gingerbreak will not root OTA.

You will have to sbf back to 2.3.340, then use TBH's two part flash to get back to rooted GB.

you were CLEARLY warned not to take the OTA if you wanted root

if your GB is slow and laggy...im afraid to say OC'ing isn't going to fix that...

to be perfectly honest about OC'ing Gingerbread...while my Quadrant and SmartBench scores love it...my eyes do not actually SEE any performance increase whatsoever...i think the only reason i stay overclocked is simply a mental thing at this point...

i WANT to believe im seeing a real performance increase (other than just benchmark scores)...but im really not...

i guess it comes down to the fact that when im at 1.15ghz and i click to run Quadrant i can say..."OH! 2250!" instead of at 1.0ghz i say "BOO! 1800!"

there is and likely never will be a 1-click root exploit for the OTA...you need to SBF back to Froyo...and install the prerooted Gingerbread files...

OR...you could hold out and see if all the bugs in CyanogenMod7 get worked out and you could flash that instead...

Welp, we're only allowed 4 or 5 stickies. We're maxed out. If you are somewhat serious, pm me and we can discuss 'em. I mean you me and the other staff here. K? :)

Yeah, I noticed we were maxed out. I was half kidding, and half not. Maybe we should reserve that "emergency extra sticky" for something more important. I guess the forum members and the mods/guides can field this question as usual ;)

The Newbie sticky should stay imo

the apk can go as most of us are on liberty/apex(ftw)/and cm7 which removes most apks, and why dont we just edit the newbie thread to include the APK's since it is a good place for it? i will PM Cookie and ask his permission or ask for him to do it, and provide him the link to do it.

cookie has edited the newbie thread and posted the link for apks that can be deleted. so if steven wishes he can unsticky it, and sticky whatever bouchigo wants :)

i agree with all above. However as i have a similar warning sticky over in the DX2 all things root forum i still find people just glancing over it and not really paying any attention to it. So its up to you guys. I try and bump it from time to time.

SBF - root with z4root - install droid2bootstrapper - flash the 2 part gingerbread install from the gingerbread leaks and you're done.

From my experience (and seemingly the majority) there are a lot of issues with the OTA release that don't exist in the 2 part install gingerbread.

No laggy keyboard, muuuch better battery life, all the same blur apps and widgets but better because its rooted and you can remove all the junk you don't want, etc, etc...just do it!
