Root It's time to unleash the beast!

I worked with robo for a few hours...he gets a bunch of force closes on boot up. will not boot recovery, usb debugging is off so adb is out of the question so cant fastboot either unless there is a key combo. factory restore by Vol Down + Home + End also does not work. Safe Mode still sees the FCs he is recieving when powered normally. LG mobile updater cant see his phone since debugging is off. same for Ally RR. any ideas folks? we literally tried everything in the book that we know of. i even snatched the official v8 update zip file and we tried seeing if the phone would load it on boot from stock recovery or something, but nothing. he is getting a refurb from verizon but its still bugging me. there has to be some sort of way. any ideas?
If you have an ally, press and hold volume up, then home, then power(end key). Hold all three until the LG emblem appears, then release immediately upon seeing it. It has to be times well and it will work I just did it three times with my phone. It has to work if you have clockwork mod recovery, that gets stored on your SD card I believe, so even if you phone was screwed from the data on it it wouldn't affect the SD card in any way unless you wiped the sd card somehow

Alright must be different with clockwork mod recovery.i use drellisdee's. ill get ahold of robo1007 thanks for the info!

Install this ROM this morning in about 10 mins with no problems this morning. Have to say its sweeeeeeet big ups to Trident! I do have a simple question as this is the first time I have rooted and installed a custom rom on an android. Is there an easy way to install all the apps I had before? Or do I just have to download them all again.

Some people know how to make a .bak file or backup and move it to the SD then reinstall after rom changing, but if you go to the marketplace click menu after you accept the agreement there should be a button that says downloads. It has been keeping track for me, but did not remember when I applied my first rom after root. So check out the downloads tab in the menu of the marketplace

Or, use AppBrain, which will automatically sync your applications for you!

Or use Titanium Backup, to backup all your apps to sd

Or use, any number of other backup applications available on the market

Ok. I downloaded it and ran into the same problem as gink. BUt luckily, I fixed it using the same steps she followed. It worked. I love the Rom. THanks so much.

Just my $0.02

I loaded this ROM yesterday afternoon. I use my Ally pretty heavily. I gotta say, I'm impressed. Not only is it snappier, it looks cool too! Kudos to Trident for this one.

Thanks, Trident! I just installed the ROM. Been playing with it for about a half hour. Obviously, it'll probably take a couple of days before I've done everything with it that I generally do, but so far I like it a lot. I'm especially happy about all the extra space on /data.

I'll be interested to see if I can get away with running some more widgets now. I always used to have trouble with the music service shutting down because of memory pressure (or at least, I assume that I was hitting the threshold for killing background services because of all the stock apps running in the background). I ended up pretty much uninstalling everything before it really got reliable.

Use Ally RR tool before the command prompt. its easier. but if it cant be detected use the instructions i typed that use adb
Code:
fastboot recovery recovery-RA_GNM_v1.2.2.img

these are incorrect directions. its
Code:
 fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA_GNM_v1.2.2.img
Also, make sure you dont have install-recovery.sh on your phone.

I wasn't trying to tell them how to flash it. i was just saying how to use adb/fastboot to get into recovery

I just did it on my phone (vol up, Power, home, not sent[i was wrong on that part]), Send menu and end may be another variation or a factory reset, but it shouldn't put you in clockwordmod recovery I flash roms and do recoveries daily.

I just flashed clockwork (i used drellisdee's recovery) to see which key combination worked. Both SEND+MENU+PWR and VOL UP, PWR, HOME booted my phone into clockwork recovery.
