Help JC6 for i7500 (1.6) is out

Okay, guys. Here's a JC6 firmware with removed CSC and integrated Recovery 4.6.2.
All you need to do, is to put RECTOOLS.tar.gz (included in the archive) on your internal SD card and flash the firmware files with Odin as you normally would. No fastboot needed.

[the file was corrupt. re-uploading]

P.S. I don't know if you can use the altrered PDA.tar to restore G.Apps, perhaps it will not pass cheksumm check. So if you are going to install Galaxo 1.6.2 and need to restore G.Apps - use the original PDA.tar for that.

Instead of CSC , are we using RECTOOLS.tar.gz ??

I flashed JC6 before with

I7500SERJC6-CSC-CL209906-SER.tar and not having RECTOOLS.tar.gz on SD card.

Now i flashed with RECTOOLS.tar.gz without I7500SERJC6-CSC-CL209906-SER.tar.

what difference i could make now ?

D'oh! People, investigate the basics before you do *anything* with your phones! Don't you have any fear of getting 300-400 GBP/EUR worth of brick!?

What do you mean you flashed with RECTOOLS.tar.gz? It's supposed to be put on your SD card for the Drakaz Recovery to have full features (that is if you *need* that at all!). It is not instead of CSC. CSC was only removed because mostly noone actaully needs it.

you know what Informale?
you should never of made that post or jc6 version with recovery as now we have confused loonatics being idiotic and even more confused

wtf

now im confused

JUST READ THE STICKIES I MADE DAMN IT PEOPLE

Don't know where else to post, so I'll do it here since it's related. Someone mentioned earlier that the nandroid backup of 1.5 could not be applied on top of 1.6 because it would end up as some strange mix between the two firmwares. Just to report that it's safe. I've restored a 1.5 backup ontop of 1.6 galaxo without previously flashing 1.5 and everything is fine.

New results with IH8 and JC6:

Total running time since disconnect: 6 hours

Running: 42%
Screen: 30%

Battery: 78%

In this 6 hours I've used:

email (2 written, 2 read)
gtalk (about 10 mins)
market (downloaded and installed 3 apps - Google Maps Update, ASTRO File manager, Tone picker)
ASTRO File Manager (browsed files for about 10-15 minutes)

I have enabled 3G, auto-sync and network location (A-GPS) but no Wifi, no GPS and no bluetooth

I think it's not bad, it seems that no-sleep is gone but battery won't last 24 hours at this rate.
Any suggestions?

gtalk + astro = 20-25 mins, market i'd guess another 10-15, so 30-40 mins + email to come to 30% screen on in 6 hours; that's well over an hour for writing and reading 2 mails... what are you writing a novel? :p

In fact 30% of 6 hours it's almost 2 hours :)

Market has been longer than expected as i couldn't find ASTRO using "file manager" search term.

I'm not writting a novel... but it

and what do you figure "30 to 40 minutes" plus "well over an hour" is? ;)

Well, I don't know in Finland, but in Spain "over an hour" depends... if you are waiting "over an hour" it means that you are waiting about 30 minutes but if you are late over an hour it means that you are late about 3 hours... That's why I try to be strict :D :D :D

this is english, not finnish or spanish, there's no wiggle room in that sentence

You can backup protected apps with Titanium Backup. And I can see both paid versions of Chandroid and RecordIt in the Market.

is there any way to do this if i haven't rooted my phone? i use BeamReader (PDF reader), which is quite good, but when i upgraded to JB2 i couldn't download it for a while due to google's whitelist of approved firmwares.

No. You need root to backup protected apps.

And because TB requires Busybox to be installed (or fetched from within TB), you need root to use TB any way. SO in fact you need root to backup any apps with TB, although you can backup non-protected apps with other tools.

Dumb question. I flashed the PDA tar from the main tar file, firmware says JC6 and working fine so what about the other 3 tars (i scanned this thread already) ?

Cheers,
Ecto

your supposed to flash all tars but not the csc

please read the stickies on how to use odin otherwise youll end up with a frankinstien phone

What he meant to say is that there is a new JC6 SER version that was uploaded yesterday. Don't know if there were any changes but it's worth a shot.

Anyhow, Russians at 4pda.ru forum are reporting that they are able to update to 1.6 (JC6) via NPS! It seems like a grand roll-out of that bugged fw has begun )

I can also confirm that by checking through FUS. Phone part is identical to the leaked JC6.

So to sum up, Russia is getting a considerably newer phone part (which is not necessarily beneficial though) in contrast to Italy, which is getting JB2/JB6.

with the role out of the jc6 firmwre officially, we can expect the release of the kernal sources of 1.6 anytime soon, rite? if done, then I hope the gaosp proj will continue :)

Please, would it be possible for you to do the same again with the 4.6.3 recovery?

Thank you.
