Root Jellybean Discussion for rooted users (Now Official)

I tried CM10 3 or 4 days ago. it was indeed very smooth. Will be following this one closely. Pretty sure I'll use it as a daily driver once they have a stable release.

I've been flashing a new build almost every day for the past week. Now that battery life seem to be greatly improved, today is the first day I will be on it the full time to determine if its a true daily driver. I hope it holds up because I'm more than ready to leave sense in the dust :p

Its even earned a nandroid place on my internal card titled cm10win :D

I'm with you on that one. I'm happy to be senseless finally! Sense ROMs have always felt too big and clunky to me. Jelly Bean on the other hand seems to be lightweight, sleek and fast. Not to mention shiny and new!

Whoa! I just noticed this ROM won't read my external SD card. And when I connect it to my laptop via USB I see my internal SD card. Is this normal? When I switch to another ROM everything is there on the external. I darn near had a heart attack when I thought I lost 25GB of data!

My SD card shows up as external_sd in ES file explorer, and I can access all of my pictures and music there. I see my internal as well when connected via USB.

I've been running this for the better part of 2 days now, and I haven't come across anything that makes me want to give up and nand back to Viper yet. Deck has made some awesome progress on this.

EDIT: @Rx how did you get the cpu stats to show in the dropdown? Do you need the pro version of system tuner?

Different app, Quick system info pro. Its free, and I prefer it

I downloaded it but then I noticed there's no camera currently. Can't fathom using it as a daily driver without that.

No more Boat browser FCs after updating the app (which, among other things, adds "Support Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) system.").

Got a random reboot last night. Phone was idle, on the charger, and just rebooted for no apparent reason.

I can't for the life of me get the second core to kick in. I'm using the EVO LTE OC app to enable OC, and System Tuner to OC to 1620. Running games like Dead Trigger or benchmarks (quadrant, antutu) will not engage it. I'm getting ~3800-4000 on quadrant. Seems like others are getting 5200ish or more. Any ideas?

There was a lot of discussion in the IRC last night with people saying the OC only saved battery because it kept core 2 offline, but my screen shots below refute that.

It's definitely keeping core 2 offline in my case. I uninstalled the OC app, rebooted, and ran quadrant again and got scores ~5000, with quick system info showing both cores in use, whereas with the OC app it was clear that the second core was kept offline.

Try reinstalling it, rebooting, wiping dalvik cache, ect. Its working fine for me. For some it didnt but eventually they got it to work

I tried that; it's still keeping the second core offline. So for now I tapped "remove" in the EVO LTE OC app to revert to stock settings. I'll watch the battery throughout the day to see if I can live with it.

I downloaded yesterday's build and flashed it. Sadly I got a lot of FC's. What I saw of it looked great, though.

What was force closing? Phone can force close on boot but that's about it for me. Camera still has issues but that's a known bug

This happened to me to with Google Now fc-ing on me. You have to make sure touch sounds are enabled in settings. I usually turn it off, but that caused my issue. That's a known issue with these ROMs i believe.

I sadly had to restore back to viper. Random reboots, flaky data, and poor battery life killed it for me. I loved the smoothness of it, Google Now is pretty cool, and I'm going to miss true multitasking. I'll be following this closely and I'm sure I'll be trying out new builds as they are posted.

Viper has Google Now if you still want to play with it.

Decks wouldn't let me answer the phone so I had to revert back to viper (phone process was being killed on boot as well). I tried miui however it refused to boot. I was hoping for some jb awesomeness. What I got was melted icecream

Sweet!
I guess I'm going to have to dig through the viper thread to find out how to get it working. I haven't visited it in a couple of days, so I'm sure there's about 80 or so new pages for me to look at. :p

Don't get me wrong, I think Deck has done some fantastic work with CM10. It wasn't too long ago that it was just a barely-bootable proof-of-concept. Now it's almost useable enough to be a daily. I'll definitely be running it once it's ready.

Good point. I should mention that he is releasing nightly (and sometimes hourly) builds on his IRC channel.

freenode Web IRC (qwebirc)

Links for the latest build and latest gapps are always at the top.

That link doesnt seem to work for me. I dl an irc client and am trying to figure this out. I am not sure how to find certain channels is there a listing for android.evo channels? Sorry for the noob question have never really used irc
