Help Jellybean installation

[/QUOTE]
Sorry I'm not sure why there was no link BC i just copied URL. But here i think this will work. Its from PAC in black 4.2.2

http://db.tt/y3KsNXN7

http://db.tt/YFbrmGE7

PS i Dont know if both are required for it to work but one is the email apk and one is the exchange apk

I installed the email apk, the exchangeapk was already installed in system-apps.
I have the mail app on my phone along with the email widget that I like but in the widget, I can hardly read the text. The text is white with the white background. I looked in settings to see if I could change this but there was no option to change. I cannot read the text as it is. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to change this??
I have included a pic of this so you can see what I'm talking about.

Yeah i never use the widget but its the same on mine. The actual email works and the text isn't white so its better than where u were i guess.

Thanks for the response but if just the email app works and not the widget, I can just use the regular yahoo email app for that. That does me no good, I was looking for a widget that works correctly so I can view my e-mails at a glance. Is there no email apk that will work with pib rom that the widget works correctly? I looked in the xda thread in the pib rom but the thread is closed and I am unable to ask in there? This is very unusual that out of all the roms I've flashed in the past few years, this is the only rom I've ran across that does not include a email apk in the rom. If you could point me to how I can contact the developer of the pib black rom, I will ask him if he has any ideas, that would be greatly appreciated. As I said, I am unable to post in the pib developer thread to contact him.

Don't know if anyone on here is still trying to get to Jelly Bean but there was an official release for Boost on March 29th. You can get to it from HERE.

Check out the all things root section. We have been getting it and now have custom stuff too. You can get it right through Kies software you can use to sync your pictures and stuff with..

I am rooted and am on pac in black rom. How can I get the official jb update without bricking my phone? Thanks

well going through kies would give you an unrooted rom, but with the new recovery kernels you could root again like the guide tells you how (just make sure you use the GB27 or GC01 kernels with recovery).

Doing the one click is the easiest and you can flash the one that is already rooted.
Since you are rooting the one click on the link I posted would be the quickest.

I have a couple questions before I do this. I am going to use the one click method. When I get ready to download GC01 One-Click self-extractor of choice, it gives me two options to choose, exe or tar file. Which one do I want?? The one click self extractor and the install z archiver, can I download these files from my pc, then transfer them to my phone or should I download them from my phone??
If I understand this correctly, after I'm all done, I will have no recovery then?? Will I still be rooted?? Thanks for ansering these questions as I try to understand this procedure.

I have another question, what is the difference between 4.1 and 4.2. I have pac in black rom which is 4.2 and the official jb update is 4.1?? I'm wondering what the difference is between the two??

For the one click install you want the exe file. It contains everything needed rom and the installer. When you first run it, it will extract itself to a folder with the installer inside, and then you run the installer which will show a simplified Odin interface. The only requirement you need it to have the Samsun usb drivers installed on the pc (if you have kies then this is already done). After you run the installer, then put your phone in download mode then connect it to the pc via the usb cable. When you see the comport on Odin light up, click start.

The rooted one will be rooted already, and yes it will only have stock recovery, but you can odin (or mobile odin) in the new recovery kernel for GC01 to have the AGAT recovery back.

Difficult to compare as pac is a custom ROM, but the differences are cosmetic in nature, and in reality our TW JB has many of the same features that 4.2 has (shortcuts on the lock screen, a quick camera launch ability, the ability to receive emergency alert texts, etc). I was watching a YouTube video on the differences between the two and I was sitting there going right to the feature the video was claiming was a 4.2 thing. That is most likely due to us having the Touch-wiz ROM. I will say the TW JB makes this phone much faster.

Thanks for explaining this. I'm unsure, but what is tw jb. Is that one of the official jb updates? Or is tw jb a custom rom, and if so, would you say it's better than the official update? I am looking for a rom that is as smooth and is packed with as many features as possible.

TW stands for Touch-Wiz. That is the interface that Samsung uses on its ROM, and all our official ROMs are TW. The JB ROM (GB27 and GC01) have a better integration of the TW user interface and run smoother and faster.

Which, in your opinion is better GB27 or GC01 and, are these the same as the official update that came out or if their different, is GB27 and GC01 better than the official update?
If these two roms are better than the official update, I would like to flash one of those. Is there a thread that tells what features each of these roms have, like when I owned the htc evo v, they had a thread that consisted of all the roms and the features of each rom.
Also, if I decide to flash one of these tw roms, I'm not sure what to do, do these have to have a different modem or recovery?? In the past, I've flashed roms dating back to the motorola triumph but dealing with modems and seperate recoveries (from the rom) is all new to me. I've tried looking for a thread that explains step by step how to flash these but the ones I read just leave me more confused than what I started.
Thank you for your continued explanations and any other assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Also, where do I find the updated GB27 and GC01 roms. I looked in the one stop shop but did not see these there??

Except for the bloatware they are the same. The reason for the different build number is that GB27 was compiled with Sprint bloat and labeling, and GC01 was compiled with Boost bloat and labeling a couple days later. GB27 was compiled on Feb27 and GC01 was Compiled on March first. GC01 is an Official ROM for our Boost phones available only via kies. Due to size they aren't pushing it OTA (over the air). I have been on GB27 since it first leaked out and since it was what they finally released I decided to stay on it so I wouldn't have to remove all the bloat apps i never use again. You can get it through kies easy enough and now that we have a recovery kernel for JB you could use it to root it like in the guide, and I have the understanding that there is a new version of framaroot that will work on these ROMs (I haven't tried it) to root as well. If you are falilure with the One click installs you can get either of them in rooted or unrooted varity. Here are links with instructions to them.

[ROM][ODIN][TAR]SPH-D710 GB27 (GB27 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Root/Stock)

[ROM][ODIN][TAR]SPH-D710BST GC01 (GC01 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Root/Stock)

I am trying to install the GC01. I downloaded the one click installer on the pc, the zarchiver on my phone but then I run the installer and the odin screen comes up. I plug in my phone, turn on usb storage (is usb storage, is that download mode), and nothing happens on the odin screen. Am I suppose to have usb debugging on or off?? I can't get the comport to light up?? Am I doing something wrong??

I'm trying to follow the instructions in the link you gave me. I moved the exe file to my phone. It says in the instructions to use mobile odin, where do I get that??

no no no the exe is the one click installer you run from the pc. run it and it will make a folder with the installer inside. Which you run from the pc. Make sure you have the Samsung drivers for your phone on the pc (install kies but don't run it). Run the installer, put the phone in download mode then connect it to the pc via the USB cable, and when you see the comport light up on the installer click start

ok didnt use kias to update, just went to samsung looked in downloads its called "SimpleDownloadertool for SPH-D70BST Boost mobile" on my desktop. pretty easy. it gets you 4.1.2 no loss of data. just find your model and DL. Now I know that there are tons of Roms and such but its kinda hard to figure out what goes with what. and this is one click. watch in 4 weeks we'll have new rooted ver. of this officalupdate.
