Help Jellybean installation

no no no the exe is the one click installer you run from the pc. run it and it will make a folder with the installer inside. Which you run from the pc. Make sure you have the Samsung drivers for your phone on the pc (install kies but don't run it). Run the installer, put the phone in download mode then connect it to the pc via the USB cable, and when you see the comport light up on the installer click start
Thanks for the response. I'm not sure what I did but I must have done it right because I'm now on the gc01 rom. I followed the instructions to the gc01 link you provided. I downloaded the rom and zarchiver, moved them to my phone, extracted and open the rom zip, then installed mobile odin from google play, run the rom from that app and bam, it installed. Everything seems to be working perfectly, I even have the native e-mail and the widget, the emergency alert notifications and all the good stuff. I am happy. The only thing I noticed is that it doesn't appear that I have a recovery to do nandroid backups, or did I miss it somehow? If its not installed, how do I go about installing one and which one do you suggest??

Codegerm, thanks for all your help and explanations, you have been great.

Even ICS had the emergency alert stuff (was a little hidden). I am glad it worked out okay (Mobile Odin does have problems with consistency on flashing modems). You definitely took the long way around instead of doing the easy one click. You have to flash the recovery kernel for that. I suggest version 0.1.0 at the moment the newer versions don't have all the bugs quite ironed out yet.

I'm having a issue. I do not have any internet. I didn't notice it last night because I was connected to my wifi. When I downloaded the GC01 rom, I made sure to download the full restore, not the no data one. I don't have any idea why I don't have internet. Can you help me troubleshoot or direct me to a forum that can help me as to why I don't have internet??

it seems as though you didnt flash a jellybean modem. gc01 gb27 gb08 these will work great. there are more. once you flash the modem youll have internet again

I found the modem thread. I want the boost gc01 modem right?? Also, there are three options, zip, tar, and one click. Which one should I use?? And how do I go about flashing this, I've never flashed a modem before.

In the modem thread, there is a link to go to Rwilco12's Android Repository. On this page I found the gc01 modem, but it says to use the right modem for my model number, which is sph-d710bst. I found the modem for that model number, but the only install directions I found was for thesprint sph-d710 phone, which in those directions it said to use ONLY for the sprint sph-d710 phone. I did not find any install directions for the sph-d710bst which is my model phone?? Any suggestions??

Mobile Odin has problems with flashing modems. That is why I will use the one click exe and a pc to flash the entire ROM. The entire ROM will also be a much larger file (500MB or so). You can flash the modem via pc odin (the file will be a tar/md5), a zip if you have the custom recovery, or the easiest a one click exe. If you are going to use a one click Ignore the part of the instructions about Android (that if for using the phone to do the flashing), and if you are on a PC ignore the mac/Linux instructions (unless your pc is running Linux instead of windows)

I will try using the one click method, but how exactly do I do this?? Are there any instructions on how to flash the modem with the one click method or could you walk me through it??

In the xda thread for modems, it has three links for:how to flash a zip modem, how to flash a tar modem, how to use the one click method, but when I click on one of these links, thats where it takes me to another page with instructions but it makes it very clear that its only for the sprint version, as I mentioned above?? Any ideas??

Ok, I downloaded the one click file, I double clicked on my pc and the odin window popped up, I entered download mode on my phone and the yellow com window popped up, I clicked on start and this is what happened. Says md5 hash value invalid. It says do not unplug. What do I do now?? Help

I closed the odin window hoping it would exit but all it did was close the window, my phone is still in download mode. On my phone, it says to not turn off target. How do I get my phone out of download mode?? Please help

ok looks like Odin didn't do anything because it didint like the file. What was the exact files you downloaded?

Odin didn't do anything, something about the hash value being invaild, then it said end. I clicked on start again (before I closed the window) and again it said md5 hash value invaild and then end again.

This is the file I downloaded SPH-D710BST_GC01_1014517_Modem.exe Its 15.1mb
I got it from this page, under downloads-s2-sph-d710bst-one click

How do I get out of download mode on my phone?? I clicked on odin again but the yellow com is not there. I have a feeling I have to have odin already up, then put phone in download mode. So I have to get my phone out of download mode without bricking it. Any idea how to do that??

Ok, I downloaded the sprint modem and now I have data, there must be something wrong with the boost modem for some reason. Thank you for your help.

Glad it is working for you. could have been a bad download, but the GB27 modem is the same so having it instead is fine.

How do I go about flashing a custom recovery so I can do nandroid backups? I still have the agat zip (0.6.8), that I used after I was rooted and still on stock Rom. Can I use that recovery or do I need another one? How do I flash it? Usually I would flash a zip through recovery, right? But since this is a recovery zip, I'm kinda lost.
