Just got my Dinc...

Wewt!

Newbie to the forum, but I anticipate fun. First smartphone, but I have built many computers and ran linux in the late 90s in grad school.

Should be fun to customize this thing to the max. Lots of options apparently.

Look forward to good threads.

Thanks for the welcome. I will lay low for a while and post infrequently till I get the feel of the forum.

My phone is a brand new Dinc, with a S-LCD and 2.2 (and all the bloatware).

By way of some sort of indication as to my character, I am a research analyst for Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and used to be a production brewer there. I hope that gets me a little cred....

You sir, if I may call you sir, have yourself a deal. Great stuff there...

This is a very friendly and informative gang, they'll square you away on any of your Android / Incredible questions.

Our search tool is not the greatest, so the trick is to use Google and search:

androidforums your_topic

or

site:androidforums.com your_topic

And while that helps a bit, we don't require it - ok for you to take your time learning the ropes, and please, ask all the questions you need.

Have a blast, get to know the gang, if you have any questions or issues about making your way around the site, send a private message (PM) to anyone with a red or green name tag, we're staff and we're friendly. :)

Sounds like my homebrew forum in terms of people and search functions!

I literally got the phone today, so I have a bit of a learning curve, but with over 50 apps on the phone pre-installed, I'm pretty sure that I am gonna want to root it and clean it up a bit and then put on a stable gingerbread ROM when available.

I do not have high hopes for an OTA update to 2.3 for this phone, as the manufacturer and carriers want to move new phones.....

Welcome! Check out the incredible roms section and look at some of the 2.3 roms. The CM7 nightly's have been pretty stable! Every one here is a pretty easy going group, so jump right in!

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your Incredible! A site you'll also want to bookmark is xda-developers you'll find the majority of your custom ROM's and themes over there

Cheers

Welcome to the forums!

Just wanted to point out that verizon was sbown to be the best carrier for updates, and htc the best manufacturer...so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 2.3 on our phone in not too long. Course, you CAN get it faster rooting.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks!

Just getting used to the O/S. I knew smartphones were going to be cool, but for a long time I had a "I have a phone to be a phone" attitude. Weird after being just a computer geek and game machine builder.

Anyway, just fooling around with a few apps had me wondering why I waited so long.

Anyone know of any cool beer geek apps?

Looks like I'll fit in here fine.

BTW: Bigfoot was just released this year, and it is super aromatic and tastey! Better than last year.

I can't help with a beer app - but I can recommend Phandroid, free in the Market - your easy way to track this forum and hot news on the go.

Awesome! Sounds just like when I tell people that they should buy our product! :) :)

I'll download it right now....

Thanks!

ETA: Downloaded and installed!

The Beer Expert is a good app, its "powered" by ratebeer.com, the only downfall is it is not free.
