Root [Kernel][AOSP] Imoseyon LeanKernel 5.0.3

He just released 4.0.0. I've been testing it all week. Just as good as 3.9.2, possibly a tad better on battery, but it's hard to tell as I've been using my phone very heavily this past week

Glad to see Imo more involved with the tbolt kernel development recently.

I was getting a little worried there for a while when he was without a phone.

Hopefully he's one of the lucky devs who wins a Nexus..

From what I've read on Twitter a lot of dev's are passing on the Nexus because there is 'only so much development that can be done'. Also, while on the topic, from tweets it seems as though JCase has one in hand. I hope he is playing nice with team CyanogenMod and giving them all they need for CM9 :D
 
Not sure what that means Worm. Only so much dev? I think once this phone hits the market there will be a lot of support. I really can't see how there wouldn't be.

It means because it's a stock AOSP device that there isn't much to do as far as development goes. All you can really do is release modded AOSP ROMs. It's not like a device with a manufacturer skin where you can port themes/different versions of skins, etc. Think about it, what would someone like Adrynalyne do with a GNex?

He could port Sense to it(not sure why someone would use it, but still, he could)
Also the D1 was stock AOSP and still had a lot of development
 
think droid one development. same here except that the d1 was pretty much the beginning of the android explosion probably had more devs that the nexus will.
 
So we'll be stuck with AOSP ROM's?

I wont get to play with Touch Wiz?

Am I missing the downside here?

With all the possible themes, and launchers available, its so easy to change to look and feel. I don't need a 400mb's to add some color to my phone.

He said something the other day about porting sense & I told him that was blasphemy, lol. I suppose he could, but why bother? Just pick up a Rezound, which I think he may do.

Agreed. A lot of that development had to do with being the first of its kind, everyone wanted in on it. I'm fine with CM based ROMs. I don't see myself flashing many ROMs considering it'll likely be a PITA without an SD card.

Is it for sure it wont have a SD card? All I heard was one rumor about that. Ur right if it doesn't have one it will be a major pita

No, it's no 100%, but considering the S didn't have one I'm not holding my breath. I was in the gnex forum earlier in a thread about this and I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand I think it'll be a huge PITA, but on the other I have never removed mine from my TB. So I don't know to be honest. I'm just playing it by ear and not making a decision until I know for sure
 
I keep waiting for Yeahha to check in on this thread and tell me if this is better than 3.5.8. I can't trust my own judgment.
 
I still think 3.5.8 is better, but not by much, IMO. If 3.5.8 still booted on the newer CM builds I would probably still use it. The difference in battery is very minimal, though so I'm fine and happy with 4.0.0
 
I don't believe so. I know it didn't work on Liquid and Shift, IIRC. I could be wrong, either way all his kernels have been getting much better, IMO. If you loved 3.5.8 there's no reason you shouldn't flash 4.0.0
 
I've been super lazy with flashing recently, been having issues with my asthma and having issues dealing with that. I've got 4.0 downloaded but not flashed, currently on liquid 3.0 and the stock kernel. On CM7 I was running 3.8 or 3.9.2 I think and it worked as well as 3.5.8 for me. But like worm said there was a change with the most recent AOSP roms that do not allow older kernels to work for some reason.
 
Yeah, it's funny how I stopped flashing once Liquid 3.0 went final. I just flash the latest Tiamat kernel whenever that comes out but nothing more. Depending on when the gnex comes out this might be it for me.

Son of a gun. Amazing how different phones are. I like the multiple OC slots, whereas Imo's only had one or two before you hit 1.8. I might give 4.0 a flash if I get an itch. I hope our gnex is more uniform than these htc devices. :D

With all those slots, if you look at CPU spy, only a couple are actually used. Imo's cut down those slots to the ones the phone uses, which also cuts down on Gov transitions.

Even with the few slots Imo uses, the phone pretty much uses, 245, 3?? (when the phone is sleeping), 768, and whatever the max is. The rest are pretty much useless. Not to mention anything above 1.4ish doesn't show much difference, and slows down after the phones been up for a while.
