Root [Kernel][GB] KoumaKernel 2.5

I noticed a huge battery drain myself. Don't know if it's the 1.2 Kernel or 2.5 CTMod, before I upgraded to 2.5 it would drain somewhat fast, but now it goes from 100% down to 93% in 5 minutes of just looking at the screen. No apps installed other than superuser.

the problem you are having isnt related to any mods/roms ect. the problem is that when the battery gets to 100% and you dont unplug it, the battery will stop charging and will not start again until it has dropped to ~90%. even though it still says 100% on the display. a reboot will display the correct battery level.
test it for yourself- unplug it exactly when it gets to 100% (yes this means babysitting it, lol) and see if you notice the same 'drain'

I'll give it a try. I do actually notice a really big diference though in how long the battery lasts. It's a fact regardless of the cause.

Lordvincent 90, you were right, I did what you said and it worked. But there is a significant drain now compared to when I just had Regular rooted GB with CWM/A2sd compared to what I have now. I found a way to constantly charge my battery with no power source. Problem solved.

boot into recovery and (with a full battery) wipe battery stats (advanced>wipe wipe battery stats) let it drain UNTIL IT TURNS ITSSELF OFF. then recharge ALL THE WAY FULL. you should be good then.

Edit: are you saying that youo are having the issue where your battery 'charges' even when unplugged? if so you could try cleaning the contacts. fixed it for my bro :)

You misunderstood me, thats something different alltogether, Don't want to get off the subject. Fact is the battery for the prevail sucks and always has. I noticed a huge difference in battery drain when your adding mods compared to the standard. It's a fact. But I'll deal with it.

what apps have you installed? how much ram do you have free with a 'normal' amount of apps running? have you checked to see what is running in the backgroung? (menu>settings>applications>manage applications, and select the 'running' tab)
also, do you have autosync enabled? this kills battery much faster

i have pretty much gotten the same battery life for the life of this phone... i only had a problem one time when my battery was low and i flashed a new rom (resetting battery stats) i corrected it using the method described above and didnt have the problem anymore...

another factor, that i didnt even consider, do you use your phone MORE now that it is modded? lol, think about it...

what are you using ot determing battery life? an app, or just the ol' look at the display technique? lol
(and lastly, probably a dumb question, but do you disable wifi and gps when not in use?)

edit- thought of another one, try lowering the screen brightness when lighting allows for it. made a big difference for me... i LOVE the notification widgetsfor that very reason.

I can actually attest to more battery drain for some reason when going from whatever CTMod 2.5 had at default to KK 1.2.

Yesterday CTMod 2.5 default KK got home from work 76% battery left. Installed KK 1.2 after work and got everything exactly the same it was before putting 1.2 on.

Today just got home from work 24% battery left and been getting the lag trying to wake the phone up.

Don't know what is causing so drastic of a drain but not easy to over look that big of a difference.

I did not have my SD formatted prior to putting on KK 1.2 so it was a fresh format to 1gb and then install KK 1.2 and then I put my TB backups back on the SD card and used TB to restore them all. Also, three times TB froze and had to be force closed by me to get it to respond again.

Was going to try today again fresh sort of. Just have a question if I do a CWM backup and then format to 1/2gb and then do an advanced restore data would that put everything back the way it was before? Or would it be better to just do a total wipe format to 1/2gb fresh install of CTMod2.5 and then KK1.2 and just restore everything via TB again?

Lordvincent 90http://androidforums.com/members/lordvincent-90.html - nothing like that. I will pm you or something to explain what I'm talking about. God knows if I talk about it too much the evil united states government will put a bullit in my head. I love it when I'm told it can't be done but yet I do it anyway. Hey man, don't get me wrong, I love my country, but I hate my Government. If that's what you want to call it anyway. Nicola Tesla was da man.

Imagine sucking electricity right out of the air, and using it to charge your phone, constantly. No bills, no limits, no nothings.
can't be done?, impossible?, ...... ok, I guess your right. ... .. .. ... . ... .. . .
......lol

In the early 20th century a German scientist named Fritz Haber discovered how to pull nitrogen out of the air. Sounds trivial to us now, but it was actually one of the most important scientific discoveries EVER. It feeds the world to this day and allows the earth to support the population we have today.

He later invented chemical warfare in WW I and although a Jew, Zyklon B in WW II.

Extreme Good and Evil in one man who changed the world and no one remembers his name.

One man who won a Nobel Prize and was a sociopathic Monster in two World Wars.

Anything is possible if the human brain is determined to make it happen. Ethics is something else entirely.

I know this stuff doesnot belong here, but google this stuff for some cool interesting reading:
Nikola Tesla's Radiant Energy System & Zero Point Energy

I'm certainly not the first to ever do this, but I built a small circuit based off of other people's tests, tweaked it on my own design, the parts cost about $5.00 from radio shack, and now my usb cable plugs into a small box the size of a 9 volt battery, which sits in my pocket, and charges the battery whenever I want, by borrowing, or sucking off the nearby radio waves.

it's so simple it's ridiculous.

Seems a few people are using KK1.3 already. I thought Kourma said that it's not an official release just yet and he's going to fine tune it and make some more tweaks before it's official.

The questions is, should I download it and use it or just wait for the official release? A bit confused here.

i must be doing something wrong. i have installed 1.2 repeatedly step by step using the directions. it installs and everything works, however my phone is working at a snails pace. sooooo laggy.

What speed is your SDcard? If it's pretty slow, then you'll definitely get plenty of lag. 1.2 definitely isn't a best fit for everyone kernel. I know I have an 8gig class 2 card, I have it split 4gigs for vfat, and 4 gigs for ext4. Though it's a class 2 (2mb/sec), it still runs pretty snappy for me

I'm running a 16g class 10 card, w/a 1gig ext4 partition.
I really appreciate what you and the others have done for the
community.
I guess I'm just jealous when I hear everyone say how fast and responsive their phones are. Lol.

What is your sdcard cache set at?

I have a class 4(that gets a little higher than 4) and I am getting horrible horrible lag on everything the phone does and waking it up can take sometimes 30 seconds, trying to type anything I am better trying to dig up a telegraph machine to send messages. I haven't been able to get enough time at home to try to work on it yet but something definately isn't working right for some reason.

Still having the huge battery drain too. During my day today I am on my 3rd battery when usually I would still have about 25% left right now on one battery.

It was set at 2048. I changed it to 1024, and WAMMO! Lightning fast!
Thanks for the awesome tip!
No problem. Glad I could help. :D

What kernel & rom are you running? Just out of curiousity.
Cause I have a 16gb class 10 with a 1gb ext4 with my 187MoD-HoneyBread3 and Genocide Kernel (which is the same as kouma's 1.2, just compiled from hroarks sourcecode)
