Root [KERNEL][LG870] Freedom Kernel *Updated 9/14/14*

yup, when back to zv4's aboot and it work perfectly with lgs cwm, want me to try the kernel you just made?
Give me a few minutes, I'm trying to port loki to ZV5 right now.

If not I'll make a flashable that first flashes zv4 aboot and then flashes zv5 kernel. That's the trick I did for the motion which seems like it'll work on F7.

Don't want to celebrate just yet, but it seems I successfully ported loki to ZV5. When I run zv5 kernel through loki it goes through without a hitch.

I'll be back in a few minutes with a zv5 test kernel. Make sure you are on full zv5 firmware including zv5 aboot.

Ok here it is...

I compiled loki for zv5 and made a kernel. All details are in the link...

Test kernel for ZV5

Let me know how it goes. If it works I'll submit changes to Bliss and we can also loki patch CWM for zv5.

Hey yall im a noob thats sitting here with a fresh f7. Ive rooted and romed a zte n860 warp with blade. And ginger break. Im a lil nervous bout effin with tha f7, but i dont like some things about it.and thanks also for ur diligent efforts.

on zv5 aboot, flashed this kernel and it staying on lgs screen. Its the bootloader.
Alright I'm starting to want to cut my losses with this phone. It's the only phone I work on giving me so much trouble for anything to work lol.

As far as loki I'm pretty sure I ported it right otherwise it would abort when patching zv5 and give error. I can't submit the changes to Bliss without any confirmation which we might not be able to do.

There's 2 last possible solutions...

  1. zv5 kernel loki'd with zv5 aboot flashed over zv5 firmware with zv4 aboot installed
  2. zv5 kernel loki'd with zv4 aboot flashed over zv5 firmware with zv4 aboot installed
Anyways, if you wanna throw in the towel, I don't blame ya... I'm ready to do the same lol.

2nd one sounds good to me, with the first one it'll just still be stuck at lg screen again. the md5 sum for zv4 aboot and zv5 aboot is different so it was certainly updated.

Ok what i ment to throw in that last communication was, i wanna help ie using my f7 to practice with but im nervous to root.

lol you should probably wait til we have everything working with loki and cwm, dont worry in a few weeks we'll have this phone bumping on roms and kernels. For now just study up on the first couple of threads to get to know the phone better, it helps.

This is a direct quote from Bliss basically saying loki can be patched to permanently not work anymore by LG. Which is what it's looking like...
Bliss said:
Can this be patched?

Absolutely. Any update that includes a new aboot will almost definitely cause your custom kernel or recovery to fail to boot without running it through loki_patch again, and if the update contains a fix for the vulnerability Loki exploits, it may permanently prevent using the tool.
I'll go ahead and post a new kernel in a little while based on the 2nd option and that would most likely be the last hope lol.

Your ZV5 loki'd kernel boots with ZV4 aboot. Finally lol.
Thanks for testing bro ;)

Time for the happy dance lol! :p

The zv5 kernel zip also flashes zv4 aboot so that noone has to worry about installing zv4 aboot first. I'll update first post with details.

Also I would like to give overclock one last try. On the LG motion which has the same cpu as F7 we found out that it doesn't OC past 1.62ghz unless it's a CM kernel. So I'd like to do one for F7 at 1.62ghz possibly tomorrow.

Anytime and Cool thanks.
Why would it have to be a cm kernel? What's so special about the cm kernel that allows it to go past that speed on the motion?

Well I can't say for sure, but generally it's always been that way. I guess it's just cleaner better written code than stock. A CM kernel paired with a CM rom and this thing would OC to 2.0ghz easy lol. CPU binning can also be taken into account.

ZV5 Kernel now available!

Ok first post updated with ZV5 kernel download link. I'll also leave ZV4 kernel up for a couple weeks till everyone upgrades to zv5 firmware.

So to clarify, is this a viable path forward, at least for the next day or so?
1) apply OTA to zv5
2) install this zv5 kernel using 2nd init
3) install cwm (which i believe depends on the zv4 aboot that is installed with this kernel.)
4) be happy.

That is correct. ;)
