Root [Kernel][Linaro][O/C][GPL][31 JAN] A-kernel v3.3-r9-fix JB

Just got mine also. I threw that bad boy on my sd card for safe keeping. Looking forward to it man!

Finally got the new MB3 build up.

Also finally figured out where the ramdisk permissions are, and how to change them, and actually changed the default I/O Scheduler to "deadline" until I get the ROW scheduler working correctly.

I don't know why Samsung, Android (Google) and other vendors still default to CFQ I/O Scheduler which is optimized more for Standard Mechanical Storage devices.. where as 'deadline' and 'noop' are better for Flash based storage.

More to come soon.

:)

About to re-compile and upload another version with an insecure ramdisk, I've been looking for this setting (and how to disable secure ramdisk). This will allow you to run adb as root.

New version will be up soon.

I added a Dropbox link, I'm still having problems downloading from Google Drive, not sure whats going on there..

I flashed with an earlier 1.8 OC, what do I gain by using this one?

Its built with the new MB3 update source, and I changed the default I/O scheduler to deadline which gives a decent boost to performance as it is optimzed more towards flash based (out internal phone storage is flash storage).

Also its worth noting: since I've upgraded to the MB3 update on stock, I have not had one random reboot, which I had quite often before. So it seems they finally fixed whatever was causing the reboot problem (could have been a memory leak in a platform application; may not even be in the kernel)

Its your preference, but If you ask me I would recommend you flash the new MB3 based build. You won't regret it :-)

I also had the random rebooting problem too. Flashing the baseband is not an option since I am running the PartyTime JBS ROM, which coincidentally fixed the rebooting issue.

UPDATE: I downloaded the file you had on Dropbox, when I flashed it, it told me it was overclocking to 1.4

Its not accurate. Sorry I never changed it, ignore it for now. I'll fix it next release.

Nice kernel for stock MB3 rom. Thanks for putting this out.
I've always been skeptical about overclocking to the max so I'm eagerly awaiting a newer 1.4GHz version... but ill stick with the 1.8GHz/badass/noop for now.. =]
Just don't want to wake up one day with a broken phone.

1.8ghz is extremely stable and when animania first released 1.8ghz I was very cautious, borderline scared because I didn't want to fry my phone but I have not once had any overheating issues or huge battery drain. I'm steady getting 16+ hours on a charge with 4hrs screen time with smoothness just like my wife's SG3. So no need to worry.

Same here thanks to this kernel i enjoy this phone, and I've had them all evo3d skyrocket galaxy nexus myt4g and wayyy more and it makes me satisfied with this phone doesn't even need any sound mods and the stock music app + built in equalizer has great sound and for the first time I won't be getting an extended battery ;)

animania260 I have to say that I really appreciate your hard work and determination on getting these kernels together for our Rushs, I'm really impressed with what you have done, your contributions to this device are greatly appreciated, I'm getting another Galaxy Rush on the 1st of next month so I'll be rejoining you guys by then... Keep up the good work, just amazing!! :D

Thanks bro, and everyone :-) . Good to hear your getting a new phone and coming back to our little community.

EDIT: And they both are 4G LTE devices, weird considering that the GS2 isn't LTE just 4G lol!!

(Had to add to my previous post this way since I have no edit button) :p

Yeah, Sprint is actually selling the "Force" (ZTE) for $50 on contract. It looks like a decent little phone for the price.

Alright, just wanted to post a little update here.
I've been working on getting a new setup up and running on my main machine so I can build and work faster (I was using my laptop). So I finally finished getting everything setup last night.
New builds should be up in the next few days.

Also on a side note, Interloper and Jimmy44* over at the Reverb forum seem pretty close to getting CM10 working on the Reverb.
I have a project going myself for our Rush but its slow going with work, plus doing the kernel stuff, and life.

So it will probably be best just to port (properly) the Reverb CM10 over when they get it working. I will still be working on getting CM10 built from source for our phones working as a project however, but like I said, I don't get a lot of time to work on it.

Yea, I keep my eye on that thread also but my main question on porting it over is...Are they building a new kernel or are they using your kernel?

Well they may just use the things I added or they may just Stock kernel.
Either way, I'm working on our kernel for CM anyway so it wont be a problem :-)

Bump!
check op. Cleaned it up a lot.
Finally built a 1.4GHz off of the latest MB3 source.
Enable ZRAM! :-)

Let me know if you have problems with ZRAM, and make sure you install the Universal init.d app if you are running stock, and place the 90zram script in /etc/init.d
If you don't zram will not be enabled on the next reboot. You only need to manually run the script once, init.d will run it on boot after.

I decided to switch to the Linaro toolchain with optimized flags for our chipset, just for the hell of it. Might get some extra performance out of Linaro with optimized flags or might not. Zram definitely provides an improvement.
