Root [Kernel][Linaro] Zippy V2.2 {UPDATED 9/27/14}

Hello L70 Users, i finally got my hands on a L70 last week to call my own thanks to bobdamnit for being AWESOME :p. Now recently I've been doing some rigorous testings on the kernel due to various bug reports. I have concluded that while Zippy Version 1.2 is stable, it is quite the battery drainer and is certainly not for people who use their phone a lot and try to get the most out of their battery. Version 2.2 is currently being tested by various users which fixes the draining issue.

If you look at the screenshot below, you will see the battery stats for my L70 that is running Zippy version 2.2. Keep in mind that i do NOT use my L70 as my daily device so its mostly on standby 90% of the time with wifi, phone service, gps, KnockOn and all the other battery draining goodies turned on. I charged the device up to 100% yesterday and woke up to it being on on still 100 percent. On the current Zippy version 1.2, if i charged my phone up to 100 percent and went to sleep, after waking up the next morning it would have dropped 10-20 percent within a 6-8 hour period while on standby which is horrible.

I suggest if you are experiencing the draining issue, go back to stock kernel and wait for 2.2 to be released. DON'T ASK FOR ETA'S

I'm really not sure, my cpu sometimes reads as no higher than 998mhz in set cpu or any app. I'll try to catch it in the act, so to speak, lol. Like I said it's really strange.

Help Me Keep Zippy Going

Soo... I notice that zippy deletes a bunch of libs and mpdecision.. Could you put those in the stock kernel zip?

Thanks!

I'm glad to see more development going into this device. It sucks that no oc/UV is available for this but it is better than nothing. The standby time has been quite bad so this is good news to see it can be fixed.

Any chance to release D325 version? :)
Why not test it out:) you guys have a working cwm right now so just run a backup, flash it and lemi know how it goes. If it boots and everything seems to be working fine I'd suggest that you go back to your backup that you made and wait for 2.2 to be out were its more battery friendly.

It doesn't work. Neither on the D320 or D325. Gives bootloops. If it helps the MS323 Cwm works on other variants after modifying aboot partition so you might be able to make it compatible. You can find modified aboot on the D320/D325 cwm post by jeffta. I am happy with his kernel but it would be better if there were more options. I am available for testing if you want.

BTW if you need stock files just tell me but I think you have them already cause you tried to built D325 cwm once before :)

How the hell did he modify it? sure he didn't just swap partitions? Either way, making Zippy compatible with other variants is a 25% chance right now. Maybe i'll think about it next month after i drop a huge project im working on for the L70;)

Oh and the chances of the project i'm working on making its way to the other variants is extremely low but not impossible. Depends on the complexity of the actual port, my schedule and whether i feel like it or not lol.

I don't know didn't ask any specifics :( anyways I will ask him. No he didn't swap partition. Both stock and modded were of same size. None of the other partitions were of that size. I have all backed up.

The huge project you are working on is it a ROM by any chance :p

Can't wait! Everything's getting interesting about the phone right now :D Just another question are you planning on keeping that awful LG lockscreen  I hope not it's something I can't tolerate about the stock ROM. Although I use ACdisplay it's very good

Unfortunately, LG made it complicated to enable AOSP lockscreen on 4.4.2 devices than they did with previous versions of Android. For previous versions it was easy as changing one line in the build.prop to enable it. It no longer works for Kitkat and i dont have the time to research or find my own way on how to re-enable the AOSP lockscreen. Plus since the L70 isn't my daily device, i have absolutely no motivation to find a way on how to enable AOSP lockscreen since my daily driver has it already, sometimes older software versions are just better. Yay for 4.1.2 JB lol dont laugh at me with my out outdated OS blame LG. I dont care anyway, getting a OnePlus One before the end of the yr:p:p:p

Well ACdisplay it is! Anyways I am waiting to see what 18-25 features you incorporate into the ROM :p sadly I have to accept that JB>KK when comparing stock ROMs.

Zippy updated to Version 2.2, fixes battery draining issue and other crap, read the changelog if your interested. READ the second post under the OP on how to make sure your phone is saving battery. Support for other variants other than MS323 is coming sometime next month in another version. :smokingsomb:

I knew getting you this phone would be a fantastic investment, bro. Keep up the great work! Its been awesome reading about development on it, even though I no longer own it. Can't wait to see your ROM man. Your stock stuff has always been smooth. Things are looking up for this device, and its variants. :) :)

Never mind Bob, just keep working on this, lol, i gotta keep this turd for a while. You have made this phone (turd) worth keeping, thank you so much. I have a battery now!

Does multicore power saving work under the intelliplug setting to save more battery?
Bty amazing mod the A15 optimization has left my device lag free in general usage and buttery smooth. Thank you!!!

Eh, yeah I suppose, I never really messed with it before.

I tried to flash this new version but get set_perm error in cwm install aborted. I've 're downloaded and get the same thing. Funny thing though is performance control app is installed. Anyone know what might be the problem?
