Root [KERNEL] Plague Overclock Kernel for LG Esteem MS910 - UPDATED!

after the phone brick days age or so and i replaced it remember i re-rooted and uploaded the CWM that's the day i also did the kernel and i had min/max in setcpu set to 1.7GHz/1.7GHz so for how ever many days that is its been maxed on the first kernel until today and my battery life actually didn't change at all or at least i didn't notice a change

i think it will be ok but ill test this for you and let you know tomorrow night how my battery did...

No man. It's important to give your phone a proper rest, otherwisE one day it'll give up and died out completely. It's just like us by doing exercise; at some point well be using all of our strength but then again we need to relax our muscles and restore our energy to be able to function, if not then we eventually will lack the power thus not giving us the strength to move on....

Wow, my Phone is random. The other day it worked at 2ghz just fine. Turned it off to save battery because I was too lazy to change the settings. Turned it back on, and it didn't want to go past 1.7ghz. Now it's running stable at 1.9 but rebooted at 1.8 and 2ghz. O.o... anyone got any ideas as to what's going on?

After multiple attempts, I FINALLY got mine OCd @ 1.8. So far no issues.
Scored 4200 @ 1804 MHz.
4023 @ 1.6

I have profiles set up so that mine runs 1.9 with certain apps, but normally it runs at 1.5 because everything runs great at that speed. I also have a profile to drop it to 921 when the screen is off. Mine will run 2.0 for about an hour straight but theres no point. I find that 1.5 is more than enough for everything, I just like the little extra at 1.9 for a few select things.

SD write could get you a few more points, try SD Booster. 768 seems to give me the best balance of speed on a class 10 card, if you go too high you will start to suffer on your read.

Edit: I get 17.3 writes
21.1 reads

wat SD booster do u use I'm only using the one on LG optimizer

The one in the optimizer doesnt seem to change anything, the app is called SDbooster and is available on the market.

Optimizer takes into account there are 2 sdcard's, sets 2 different settings for each. I did benchmarks using a class 10 external sd. Antutu bench is the only one that let's you pick wich one to bench. All other apps only modify internal sd read ahead cache. It's not as high a gain as the Optimus M, but measurable vs. Stock. On the M, using the same card I was getting 34mb/s reads, maybe different reader hardware but I tried all values in small increments. Rom manager adjusts the internal sd value only.

By the way, anyone got a good description of smartass2?

The optimizer never changed my external speeds, I benchmarked before and after. It did change my internal speeds though. I use SDbooster for the external card tweaks. I can get my reads much higher but the writes start to decline. I only use my external for storage so I like to have a good balance between the two speeds.

here ya go:

2.7 SmartassV2
---------------

The CPUfreq governor "smartassV2", like other governors, aims to balance
performance vs battery life by using low frequencies when load is low and
ramping the frequency when necessary, fast enough to ensure responsiveness.

The implementation of the governor is roughtly based on the idea of interactive.
The idle loop is used to track when the CPU has idle cycles. The idle loop will
set a relatively high rate timer to sample the load when appropriate, the timer
will measure the load since it was set and schedule a work queue task to do the
actual frequency change when necessary.

The most important tunable is the "ideal" frequency: this governor will aim
for this frequency, in the sense that it will ramp towards this frequency much
more aggresively than beyond it - both when ramping up from below this frequency
and when ramping down from above this frequency. Still, note, that when load is
low enough the governor should choose the lowest available frequency regardless
of the ideal frequency and similarly when load is consistently high enough the
highest available frequency will be used.

Smartass also tracks the state of the screen, and when screen is off (a.k.a
sleep or suspended in the terms of this governor) a different ideal frequency
is used. This is the only difference between the screen on and screen off
states. Proper tuning of the awake_ideal_freq and sleep_ideal_freq should
allow both high responsiveness when screen is on and utilizing the low
frequency range when load is low, especially when screen is off.

Finally, smartass is a highly customizable governor with almost everything
tweakable through the sysfs. For a detailed explaination of each tunable,
please see the inline comments at the begging of the code (smartass2.c).

Ok folks, as we know have CWM working I can now post my custom overclocked kernel. :D

Added a link for the 2016Mhz (2Ghz) Plague Extreme kernel. I revert the versioning back to perf so to aviod any module comflicts. But the HDMI out still seems not to work. :\

I would like to thank our team of testers, they been a great help to me and mt, thanks guys!!!

The goods:

2Ghz Plague Extreme
so why is the hdmi out having problems? i want to help if i can!

dunno, I didnt do anything to the kernel that should have broke it and I dont think mt has removed anything that would have broke it. So I will just have to dig deeper for a solution, tho not a biggie in my book, and I rather spend my time working with CM7/9 ;)

could this be Lg's doing? could they have something done to the source or something to cause the HDMI to not work after modifications have been taking place? i mean i rememeber how Samsung did something to the indulge to make certain apps not work, LG could have done something similar...

Just a thought though...

not from what I have found thus far, but ya never know.

I'm not denying the possibility when I say this, I'm just trying to determine a motive. But if LG did do something to the kernel source, why would they only make it so that mods break HDMI support? I think itd make more sense( especially if the intent is to stop hacking) to disable more important files that could render the device useless or depreciate the value to the customer. Like for instance, why not have it disable radio signal? 4G? Wi-Fi? Bluetooth? Hinder web browsing? Maybe overload ram by disabling the android application manager? Because in my view, not many of the buyers of metro would have the opportunity to buy this phone, and have an hdtv with the hdmi cable just to pop up the phone's screen on the tv for whatever reason; therefore I see it pointless to hinder an option that a small percentage of consumers will even utilize as punishment for Modding the phone. Know what I mean?

I'm having trouble installing this. :[
I have downloaded the clockworkmod rom manager and the 1.8 plaque kernel. I choose to install the recovery from the manager & then it shows a list & asks to confirm phone model but the lg esteem don't show up their. Sorry im new to this.

You need to start here first: http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/470485-cwm-root-rzr-root-recovery-aio.html CWM for the Esteem isnt in ROM Manager. Follow that post and once you have success, then you can put the kernel on your sd card, reboot into recovery and then flash it.

If you need any help with CWR after reading the first post, just make a post and help will find you. :)
