Root [KERNEL]SpeedDemon V5.6 (Performance & Battery Improvements) - MIUI Kernel

The issue is the WHOLE MIUI in general, was built for UI instead of gaming. The most I can currently do for this problem is add stuff to help with performance.

I wanted to add overclocking for GPU, but that would mean rewriting A LOT of code in the GPU driver and the files connected to it; and sad to say, would take A LOT of knowledge of C/C++ which I don't completely have.

I figured as much. I constantly switch between miui and froyocream cause I love miui ui but like the gaming of froyo just would be nice if miui could preform a well at gaming. Thanks for the info. And keep up the good work.

Hi Austrie...
I can't get the USB tether to work, am I missing some files to use with your kernel? It said connected but nothing at PC, no new network detected. I don't know which library or module files I've to try to use.
And also I can't get the 2 way calling recorder to work, It said recorded but no recorded file found.

Sorry for my very noob questions...

1. USB works for me, so you should reinstall the drivers in your computer or check your USB. This problem probably occurred because your a variant using this, but I haven't heard any complaints about USB from others so it should be just you; last case scenario is you have to reflash MIUI(no data wipe).

2. Make sure you're using the right app from the market, or use his thread; MIUI phone don't allow this feature on its own.

I'm only getting scores of 2900-3000 in Quadrant. I have it overclocked to 1400mhz and am using the Smartassv2 governer. I thought the scores were around 4400?

I was talking 2-way call recording...
Scores are supposed to be at around 4.5k when overclock at 1.4Ghz, so something is wrong with your settings

Scoring 4300, Oc 1.3, min/Max I/o..... like austrie said its your settings or try reflashing might be a hiccup in the kernel or rom

Quarries... you included the extra ram to gpu in sdkernel correct?

I think you NEED USB Debugging on as well. It is in CM7.

Hey austrie, quick question that I hope you can help me with. Do you have any idea what system apps are able to be removed/frozen with out messing the phone up. On minuit ofcourse. Just trying to decrease the amount of background apps to free up ram. Yhanks

I'm not sure the names of the app on the phone, since I removed all apps that seemed like bloatware, but I'm giving you the names from the ROM zip that I'm pretty sure of and a couple apps I remember by name, Antispam.apk, Backup.apk, Calculater.apk, Gmail.apk, Email.apk, Firewall, Notes, Sound Recorder, Voice Dialer, Monitor, News & Weather, and Torch.apk.
I'm pretty sure there's more apps you could remove, but the apps aren't named right in the zip; for me to help more i would need screenshots of the apps on the ROM.

You might be able(safe) to remove Music, but you would have to replace it with something else.

Thanks I removed most of those except torch I think I was looking for more on tts.apk Calender.apk relocation.apk things like that's. I have an app remover from xda at toxic baby forum. The app is S414.apk lets you disable, backup, restore, and remove system.apks

Well, you can use Startup Manager, to deal with your apps that like that like to startup with the phone, but i would only recommend messing with data apps, unless you know what your doing. You can uncheck Market, Gmail, Email, and Bluetooth Share, from system for sure; there's also a safe app killer button that shows up when you hold the home button, it's safer than Task killer apps.

New link is up!

I'm busy dealing with a other project during the weekend and then the weekdays is even more busier; so the development is going to slow down for this project...

well do you know if bluetooth and wifi work together when a device is paired?? since you use MIUI all the time like i do (but i have nothing to pair with until i get my controller on monday) you might know better than some.. i know marc is helping with this too but maybe you could like debug if it does discconect when somthing is paired.. idk.. work your magic? :D

It probably should, but if your WiFi Tethering and Bluetooth on, your battery would(should) die in less than a hour and 15 minutes on full charge; if your connected to WiFi(not WiFi Tethering) battery life should only last less than a hour and a half.

Just got around to upgrading 4.0-> v5.0. Did a nandroid backup, wiped cache partition and dalvik cache, install. Now my icons are all scrambled from where I had arranged before. For example I had a games page where all my games were, now they are all over the place and the games page which was full only has two games on it. Other pages are scrambled too. Was the due to wiping the cache partition? Coming from a tablet where it was standard practice to wipe cache every time you loaded a new kernel. Not suggesting SDKernel caused this, just trying to understand why it happened, and what to do (or not do) next time. Other than that everything seems to be working just fine. Thanks.
