Root [KERNEL] TheOC v1.7.20 kernel for MT Isaac & TG based CM7

How is a nandriod backup soppose to be done? When I did mine, I lost all of my... uh, user data. I had to log into my games and I lost my texts.

On the text note, I did find a good program for that.

I was hoping it would be like an image. Something like Windows 7 or acronis'.
It makes an exact backup of your phone as it is at the time you did it. If you make a backup and switch ROMs and get a text or play games, then restore the backup, you will lose the changes since then. I use SMS Backup & Restore to keep my texts straight when I switch ROMs. Some 3rd part messaging apps have that functionality built in as well.

Dumb question: Will undervolting do any damage to my processor?

I don't think so since physical damage comes from heat. Undervolting would make it run at lower heat than spec. Only risk is corrupt data if it crashes while trying to write to memory.

Okay I have question and it's probably a dumb one.

What are you guys using to monitor your phone's temperature?? I've used several widgets.. varying from the measuring of battery temperature to the measuring of CPU temperature.

The thing is, no matter what I am doing on the phone it ALWAYS says 24.5 degrees Celsius... which can't be right.. especially today when my phone was laying out in my car during 16 degree temperatures for over an hour and it still read the same temp. Does the Triumph even have a temp sensor in it?

That's not how it worked for me. When I went back to my nandroid backup from TickerGuy's ROM I had to do all of my sign in things. Bank apps, dropbox, words with friends, ect. Is it sopose to be like an image, or is should it be like a preinstall of all of my apps and stuff.

And I use SMS Backup & Restore now also:D

What were you using to make your backup?

I used clockwork recovery, version 4.0.0.9. I just did the nandroid backup there. I guess I need to update, huh? Doing research:rolleyes:

You should be using a much newer version than that as that version does not support EXT4 partitions which the CM7 rom requires.

Not sure if anyone's aware of something like this:

[MOD][KERNEL] Deep Idle - xda-developers

It's not without bugs apparently. I use the app "CPU Spy" and it shows that the MT goes into 'deep sleep', but the dev above may have a "deeper" sleep mode.

Also an update, for whatever reason my phone wasn't able to go into deep sleep 2 nights ago, and ended up staying at the min frequency 245 Mhz for 8 hrs & draining about 28% (normally it would've drained 1-2% in that time if it went into sleep). I've rebooted, and set my undervolt to 700 (instead of 650) for 122-1024 Mhz, haven't been able to reproduce it, so not sure if it's related to the undervolt settings, still trying to narrow it down.

Dumb question but if I have the same voltage set for my 3 lowest frequencies from a battery standpoint would it matter wich one is my minimum?

Yes...even though the voltages are the same the higher frequency settings will use more battery than the lower.

I know it's only an academic question, but if the processor is at idle, doors it matter if the it's set to 122 or 245?

I was just trying to test this out last night with Current Widget, and it seems that idling at those frequencies don't seem to matter, so picking 245 would be better. But I'd like to do some testing where it's under load and executing code at those frequencies to be sure.

I have had my idle speed set to 122 for some time now. The only issue I have is if I lock that speed when the screen is off.. such as using smartass governor for example or using a profile that does that.. because there is a short delay in waking the phone. I have a SetCPU screen off profile of 122/min 245/max conservative and there is no problems in waking. That is just my experience. Also should note that the delay in waking the phone at 122 is hardly noticeable (probably about one second sometimes no delay at all)

I also don't notice much of a difference in battery life between idling at 122 or 245. If I don't use my phone for an hour I average 4% per hour at 245 idle.. and I average 3% per hour at 122 idle. So, considering the difference in battery life is very minor, if you are having issues at the lower speed stick with 245.

If I remember correctly, Tickerguy noted that the Wifi/sleep fix in this ROM kept the phone from entering into deep sleep states. That was the only way to keep the phone from locking up when you have the "Wifi Never Sleep" setting enabled

I believe that was true, but it was fixed later on. I might be mistaken though.

My original testing was without wifi on, and even if the wifi sleep policy is set to "sleep when screen is off", it still doesn't enter sleep mode as long as wifi is enabled. Using the 11.19 CM7 build & TheOC kernel.

THIS.

I'd settle for it going to proper sleep when screen was off if that worked, but unfortunately neither puts the phone into deep sleep - except for cutting wifi completely off.

I mentioned in the miui thread - I've noticed after it sits for a while with wifi on, that when I bring the phone out of sleep, I have to disconnect / reconnect / cycle the wifi to get connection again. It shows connected, but I cant transfer any data. Kinda pointless in that regard then...
