Root Launcher experiences on GB....

I've been running GoLauncher fine on Froyo. Now on GB, I started noticing that redraws a LOT, both on my homescreens and in the app drawer.

So, I'm doing an experiment. I'm trying blur home. It's very smooth, and some of the blur is very slick, like the social messaging.

Please post your GB launcher experiences.

LPP worked well for me. I have since removed it and am using Blur home now. I am not liking the Blur social widgets though, but I am giving them a try.

i am using go launcher ex and i have to say that it is way faster on GB than it was on liberty. I have ZERO app drawer reloads and everything just flies. all the animations are very smooth, and i couldnt be happier. now i just have to figure out why my battery life is crap...

I've used LPP with the cube transitions and 5 home screens. Screen 3 and 4 stuttered when going left to right from 2 to 3 and from 3 to 4. Just a little stutter - barely noticeable but it began to bother me.

So I decided to try the new flip (not flip2) and am REALLY liking it. I don't get a single stutter at all. I've increased the speed at which the screens transition and the result makes my phone appear overclocked while still maintaining incredible smoothness.

I have widgets on every screen too and they don't seem to affect the experience.

I'll be sticking with this for awhile.

question if anyone knows. ...

i set a folder of like apps in blue app drawer and when I select "send to home" or whatnot, the folder doesn't transfer to my home screen. Is that a glitch. Folders would help a lot to reduce me from 13 screens.

I'm having a but ton of redraws with gb using LPP I've tried the local.prop edit and ive lowered memory settings and it has helped a little. I have a ton of widgets on all 7 home-screens though.

Give "apps organizer" a try, it works great. App Tools and System are a few of the categories that I made.

ive been using LPP since i picked up the original droid on launch day and i love it i shelled out 15 bucks for spb shell this morning and it is pretty amazing. worth the price? idk but im really enjoying it right now spb + GB is pretty hot so smooth, the only tiff i have with spb so far is flipping through the screens isnt quite as, i wanna say snappy? as flipping through the pages on LPP, but dont take that to mean that it laggs cause it doesnt i dont reall quite know how to explain it.

EDIT: I got Launcher Pro Plus and Go Launcher mixed up...

I am still on the GB Launcher. One reason is you can make categories in the app drawer. Thats one of the things I liked about ADW Ex and Go Launcher.

I actually liked ADW's category setup better between ADW Ex and Go Launcher. The GB launcher way is better to me.

Maybe 13 homescreens is too much for gl on gb.
That's not it, I was having the same problem with 3 screens and only 2 widgets. The blur launcher is super smooth but I like 5 icons on the dock bar with 10 shortcuts and scrollable widgets, maybe ill give adw another shot but its not very user friendly

I have tried pretty much all the known launchers. thay all are giving me redraws after a while. The stock Blur launcher is ok but I really miss setting the rows and columns as well as 5 icons in the tray.

I've seen no problems at all with LPP on gingerbread, but then Fed has also released two updates to support it in the past few days.

It just seems the fastest and most bug free right now.

I've seen redraw issues in Go Launcher as well. But I have seen them since Froyo. I'm going to play with LPP today and see where that gets me but I constantly change things so who knows what I will be using tomorrow. :D

Yea I'm missing that too....but I like the way the GB launcher does categories in the app drawer tho....

Ahhh!!! One of the other launchers is gonna have to mimic the GB launcher app drawer category way.

Go Launcher and ADW need to mate and give me what I want...

Well Steven I ran into the same problem you're having with GL way back when Liberty first dropped. I had either 11 or 13 home screens (can't remember now?) that worked flawlessly on GummyJAR. When I moved to Liberty it started to act up on me though. First my widgets became unstable, then my transitions started getting REALLY jittery, and lag was something aweful.

So initially I just went back to GummyJAR because I had no such problems on that ROM. But I LOVED the UD theme I had on Liberty. So I flashed back and tried everything I could think of... clearing the cache... playing with my 'AutoKiller' settings... playing with my over/underclock settings... tweaking 'SetCPU'... etc... Nothing seemed to help much. So then, just as an experiment, I dropped down to 9 screens... and everything went back to flowing like a fresh water spring.

Since then I've just adapted to sticking with the 9 screens and I've had no problems both while using Liberty, and now on GB. So it might be time to hack off 4 of your screens and see how it behaves. Honestly, I haven't missed the one's I deleted. I really just got kinda carried away really once I found out GL was expandable up to 30 some screens! LOL... I think I was just trying to see how many I could fill for a while there.

For me I have used ADW And Launcher PP. Something about the stock Gingerblur is just pleasing to me right now... I think sometimes with Launcher proplus it just gets redundant to much going on!

For now I am more then pleased with stock Gingerblur. Now that new SPBshell 3D looks AWESOME.. but for 15bucks  it had better come with a Lapdance..

I must say that over all I am very pleased with gingerblur...

I really wanted to like the stock launcher. It has some nice features.

Unfortunately, though, lack of scrollable widgets and only four buttons on the dock really hurts the way I like my setup. The four dock buttons I could live with but no scrolling widgets is unacceptable. I don't participate a lot in social networking so what I like is a clean, integrated Facebook/Twitter feed that I can quickly zip through, and without scrollable widgets, there's no good way to get that.

So, I'm back on Launcher Pro. My only problem with LP on Gingerbread is after reboots, it just straight locks up for a minute or so. Eventually it starts responding again but during that time the phone is only responsive to OS-level commands like holding down the home button to get recent apps or hitting the power button.

What I'm doing now is leaving BlurHome running (i.e. not renaming it) so I can use the great new app drawer with categories instead of Launcher Pro's app drawer.
