Root Launcher experiences on GB....

I had 5 homescreens on LPP with 2-4 widgets on each, and it lagged. Removed some down to about 3 or 4 screens, and it was smooth.

If LPP works w/o lag with 5 screens, I'll go back to GB. I did find that lowering the memory settings (light homescreen caches) fixed the lag and stutter, but made the overall phone less responsive than on Liberty 1.5. So I'm back!

I have 4 screens on LPP, with the Friends widget, the Calendar widget, Beautiful Home Smaller Weather, a Gtasks widget, a Battstat widget, and my music player widget. Smooth as buttered glass on a baby's bottom.

Yeah LPP is really smooth up to a point. But on 5 homescreens I had: Gtasks, Jorte, Agenda Widget, 2 Launch-X docks, BW, 2 switchpro widgets, Twitter, Tweetdeck Post, Pandora, Cubed large, and Audiomanager. Once I deleted 3 or 4 widgets it ran smooth, but the benefits of keeping those for me was greater than the speed increase/overall benefits of GB

What I'm doing now is leaving BlurHome running (i.e. not renaming it) so I can use the great new app drawer with categories instead of Launcher Pro's app drawer.

 wait, how do you setup the shortcut to take you to the Blur app drawer instead of LPP's??...i like LPP's app drawer, but Blur's is nicer IMO...

on Froyo LPP ran like butter for me...the only time i would EVER get lag is occasionally when going to the screen previews...

after switching to GB the screens were fine, but i got a lot of lag when going into the screen previews...so i started messing with the memory usage...

if i set the prest to "high" then i get stutter...but if i leave it on high and change the cache type to "compressed" its back to how it was on Froyo...butter, except for occasional lag when going to the previews...

if i go to "meduim" preset and "compressed" caches then its pretty much money...just as responsive as i remember on Liberty and ApeX

If you still are allowing BlurHome to load, you can just long press the app drawer, select change shortcut, then scroll down and select "App Groups" and you can select "All Apps."

The only thing to remember here is that if you long press an icon in that app drawer and select create shortcut or something like that, it will create the shortcut on the Blur desktop, not the LP desktop.

BLAH!!! i didn't think of that part...hmm...might try it out for a little bit and see if it bothers me...

Any time I rename BlurHome, no matter what Launcher I use, it is very laggy. Quadrant scores drop from the low 2000s to just over 1000 and Linpack won't even complete a test.

i always freeze Home from Titanium...but never noticed a huge decrease in performance...but ill see if defrosting it helps at all...

Weird. I renamed BlurHome yesterday and had no problems, quadrant scores were fine.

Only thing I can think is I always clear my Blur desktop off, so I'm wondering if something in your system is trying to access BlurHome and failing?

Only reason I'm leaving it enabled now is because performance impact is negligible and I can use the nice new app drawer.

I always make sure my blur home screens are cleared of everything before switching to a new launcher.

I've got Go Launcher Ex with 5 screens running great
on another note

Why the h3ll do you need 13 screens Steven?
why is there ANY need for more then 7 screens EVER?!

Seriously, i would love to know what you have to fill that many screens

Ive asked him that in the past before. Some lame excuse that I can't remember. :p

I'm using Launcher Pro.. I get a little stuttering when I open the app draw.. I set the app draw opening speed to instant, so now its not noticeable.

using shell 3d for about 24hrs now. Really neat definitely a jaw dropper. I'm using 9 screens the are all labeled ex: Tools, Media, Social, etc.... you can change those titles to your like. 3 ways to scroll through your screens. Normal 2d and just slide and it has that cube look as go from screen to screen. Or you can use the 3d view which is sick. you can just flick the screen and scroll through your screens in a circle motion you can tilt down and give it that 3d view from above. Adding shortcuts and widgets to a screen is pretty cool because as you drag it it makes room for it and you see your shortcuts move around. the spb widgets are sick just wish they had more to choose from. Now when u boot it, it does take it a minute to start. I've experienced a little bit of lag at times. but usually that sucker is flying thru screens. The $15 sucked but hey I've spent more for hang overs. Having lots of fun with it

Well I can't speak for Steven, but when I first got GoLauncher I added a bunch of screens, and then just spaced things out among them so that each one had a very clean look to it instead of filling them up and making the most out of them.

For instance my main home screen was just my 'Beautiful Home' (clock and weather) up top, and my 'BatteryLeft' at the bottom. The screen to the right of that was my full screen calendar widget. The screen to the left was my full screen calculator widget. Another screen was a full screen 'PowerAmp' widget. And yet another one was a full screen 'Moon Phase' widget. That alone is 5 screens filled with only 6 widgets. See how easy it is?

But when I started having lag issues, I started condensing more items per screen to subtract away from my total number of home screens. 13 home screens was no problem for GummyJAR. But Liberty didn't like it as much.
