I'm the same way. I had an app on my old iPhone that was called "Where did I park?" or something similar, but I always forgot to use it.

Just started using Myn's Warm 2.2 and it snowed today here in Maryland, so I got to see the snow animation!

Looks great...but if I ever saw that animation where I am I would NOT be happy...VERY SCARED more like it!! Only animation we've recently seen is an "almost ice cube" but no snow! ;)

What is the app/widget/setting/root theme/etc that allows one to have a different lock screen image compared to one's home screens?? And is there some way to have separate images on each of your 3, 5 or 7 home screens (though I believe the answer to that is NO).

THANKS!!

I am so new to all this and would like to do customizing like what a lot of you have done on your Evo. Problem is, I dont know if I can do it. Is there a simple way to do this? I've seen everyone post different apps that they've used. I guess what i'm asking is which apps is the best at achieving what I've seen everyone do so far? I have lots of cool images that I would like to use. Thanks for any and all help.

welcome to the forums.

start by downloading launcher pro from the market. its what most people are using here for their home screens. the free version will work, but if you want widgets similar to sense you will have to buy launcher pro plus.

install launcher pro. press the home key. select use by default and then launcher pro. now reboot your phone so only launcher pro will be running (this will free up system ram)

you can download home switcher to switch between launcher pro and the stock sense launcher.

I also suggest you read the first post of this thread, there are a few tutorials there. may be a little outdated but it will get you started. then come ask more specific questions on how to get things done.

you may also want:
folder organizer light
smart short cuts
desktop visualizer

then grab shootme for taking screen shots and come show us what you've done.

Drew 5150, I am a tad overwhelmed with how complicated this is or seems. The first post didnt seem to offer much as to how to customize the background and the icons. I applaud everyone thats able to do this, as for I'm far to inferior to you all. I guess I'll just have to keep the standard background and wallpaper that comes with the phone. All praise to you all. Thanks again for your attempt to guide me to making my Evo more me.

k so i just recieved the black evo by fed ex today from an insurance claim, its obviously brand spankin new, havent even opened the box, sprint wont trade with me because its an insurance claimed phone, which is gay as hell!! ne way does ANYONE have an equally new white evo that wants the black one?

Drew 5150, I'll try again when i got time to play around with those apps. I should first install launcher pro first or it doesnt matter?

it doesn't really matter. launcher pro will give you the different bottom dock and allow a few more custom options to your home screens. example would be hiding the text under icons or hiding the top notification bar (this is how we get full screen shots). the bottom dock can also be set to scroll so you can have 15 icons on your dock keeping your phone useful and clean at the same time ;)

but you can use the other apps on the stock launcher if you like.

folder organizer lite - this will allow you to change icons for any app on your home screen. you can download icon packs from the market or make your own or download from the internet. icon packs from the market will say they are for better cut but they will work with folder organizer. DO NOT buy better cut. just download the free version of folder organizer. you can also make folder with this app.

smart short cuts - similar to folder organizer. just another option.

desktop visualizer - this one is a little more advanced so you may want to skip this for now. you can change the size of icons with this. I haven't used this one that much.

shoot me - just takes screen shots of your phone.

once you have those going there lots off widgets apps for clocks, date and weather.

some common ones are:

beautiful widgets - clock/date/weather - paid app, but I think its worth it. has clocks that look like stock and a nice weather forecast widget
g-tab simi clock
digital clock widget
tjam
battstatt
circle battery widget
thermometer widget
smooth calender
agenda widget

this will all work on sense or launcher pro
and many more, see something you like posted just ask what it is

if you install launcher pro, you need to have it set as default and then reboot your phone (this is important or your phone will run slow, due to both launchers running at the same time).

its not as hard as it seems, just start simple and work on it. you can download home switcher to switch back to sense at anytime, while you keep your launcher pro as a work in progress. just make sure to reboot your phone after switching.
