Root LG Ally 2.1 Update is being RELEASED

Looking at the thread on lgforum it appears that battery life (possible 50% bug) and slugishness are two of the things being fixed.

We need to get the update and upload it here for the devs to root.
 
The update roll has begun here is what's been reported so far:

Hey just got the update and can confirm several facts.

Its does seem smoother and more responsive.
There is a new version of the YouTube app with an updated widget, that shows recommended videos and supscription updates right on the widget. It also has a quick HD on or off button while watching to switch resolutions. Thumbs up.
Camera is more responsive as is the gallery.
Added My Verizon app (meh) and City ID (thumbs down, have to pay monthly for it). Didn't want more apps that just take up space that are not of my own choosing.

More apps taking up more space the Ally doesn't have too...geez LG. I think having custom ROMS it the only hope for this phone. Running Velocity v0.2 and it's been great.
 
so would it be worth flashing back to stock rom, applying update, re-rooting, and going back to velocity .2? or should i just stay where im at, with velocity and oc? never had battery troubles.

than stay with what you got, i got battery issues so ill have to go with the battery > custom
 
This is the VZB update rooted, deodexed, junkware removed, and files that kill your custom recovery removed delivered as a full rom. This has the new radio in it too. Be careful when flashing that you do not power off phone or cancel the update once started as it can brick if you do. Check the MD5 for a match before you flash to make sure the update is not corrupted in downloading as this is vital as it has a radio.img. Removed apps will be in a folder called VZB on your sdcard after flashing.

1. Copy signed_VZB_rooted_deodex_radio_1015.zip to sd card and boot into a custom recovery.

2. Wipe /data & /cache

3. Apply update.

4. After full reboot into android power off and reboot into recovery.

5. Wipe /cache as this is necessary to get market working after the radio flash.

6. Reboot to android and enjoy.

Yeah it reports v8 =/... apparently only ota update can change what that says so dont worry about what it says, u guys have the update its just not ota
 
I have the same version as dots. After flashing I now can't download anything from the market give me download unsuccessful, I am able to search in the market, I am able to surf the web just wont download from market anyone else experiencing this?

Did you perform these steps in drellisdee's instructions?

Yep seems he didnt follow these steps. Bad things can happen if you don't follow directions. Pay special attention to the md5 checking.
