Root Lg Ally won't boot into recovery?

I have booted my ally into recovery before, but I can't get it to work now, i've been holding down call menu and end call and it just shows a little android dude with an exclamation mark and just reboots normally. I have clockwork mod and rom manager but for some reason it just keeps doing it over and over. Any suggestions or fixes? I'm trying to flash velocity 0.4 but I can't do that till I boot into recovery soo...

You may also need GetitNowMarketings
Signed kill File after you actually get recovery installed.

1st step. Use Rom Manager to put on CLockwork.
2nd use quickboot app to Boot into Recovery.
3rd Use Getitnowmarketings Signed kill file.zip in Clockwork. http://androidforums.com/getitnowmarketing/146564-ally-recovery-img-here-custom-roms.html This file is at the bottom of the first post.
Now You can have your Recovery of your Choice because of savoixs files in this thread Below

Exactly what swc2001 said. There is a file in /system/etc called install-recovery.sh
That file will remove your custom recovery and restore the stock one. You can either do it the easy way that swc2001 posted to remove it or use adb shell/terminal to remove it.

In /system/etc there is a file called "install-recovery.sh". Copy that over to your SD card, and delete it.

Then, flash your recovery ROM onto it. Problem fixed.

I ran into this issue, and dots helped me figure it out. That script copies factory recovery back into the ROM if it's been altered.

Dont mean to bring this post from the dead, but i guess i may b havin the same issue with velocity 1.0, i rooted using z4, then i installed rom manager, n i flashed clockwork mod for lg ally, then i seen alternative ra gnm 1.2.5 so i flashed it, but neither of them has allowed me to boot into recovery, n no matter what button i press in quick boot none of them work, n i cant get to any recovery screen, it will show the ! but then boots regular, so neither have workd, does that mean i have to go into root explorer and delete it or what? Thanks in advance.

In your app drawer do you have an "app" called superuser? If you do try reflashing using fastboot and the link in 2.2.1 froyo guide (sorry im on my phone or id put up the link)

Velocity 1.0 should have already been rooted when you flashed it, not sure why you would want to use z4root on it.
Use SWC2001 method he posted in this thread. you may have to flash Amon Ra a few times to get it to stick.
