" The fevers done broke!!". My ardor for the G3 is cooling. Blame it on my G2. I don't know. I've read every review. Digitizer, Heating? Who the hell knows? If there is oversharpening, that would not be good, since I use it to read. I like wireless charging, but I know I could get the G3 to wireless charge, buying a back cover on ebay. In the back of my mind I think I want to hold out another 60 days and take a peek at a 20nm A8 processor in the Ip6, or maybe a 805 G3. I am only stuck with a couple of TPU cases!! All this could change if I pick one up in a store and fall in love with it. It has happened before.
I'm pretty much in the same boat.

One of the effective things that electronics manufacturers thrive on is the "live for the moment" part of compulsion. It is a powerful thing and a key driver of the industry :)

If you will be happy with the device for one to two years, you are good :) I notice that like desktops and laptops, there is a growing diminished return in buying a new device, since the current tech is keeping up fine with software. Phones and tablets appear to be heading there too now.

Case in point, my S4 is the first phone so far where I have not been compelled to buy something else. I do admit though that if the G3 were 1080p, I would have about 100% jumped on the bandwagon. Using the device though reaffirmed my perspective that overall Qhd hurts more than helps the device. For me it would have been dead sexy with 1080p.

Added: The G3 was THIS close to being the bestest' device evah', sans Qhd. Anandtech pretty much said the same thing.

I actually never trust anything seen until it's been out long enough for one update, often about a month.

A lot of early panic gets cured by the first update - in my experience.

I figure that coming from a 2012 RAZR MAXX, battery starting to not do so great, and cell radio beginning to act up, a $99 G3 is all win for me.

Decent cell radio and decent battery, given I am not a gamer. Root likely pretty near-term (I do need/want root for a few things, but don't mess with ROMs). microSD slot will be nice to hold a good chunk of audio/video files as well as a full system backup.

A little smaller screen/total size, and 1080 instead of QHD would have both likely been nice, but I am firmly in the camp of going for "good enough", rather than waiting for the new sexy thing coming "real soon now".

Guess I am just one of the great unwashed masses :)

I feel the same way. I have been on cracked S3 that restarts its self and freezes about 6 times a day. I have had enough of it. I was thinking about getting the S5 but I decided to with g3 due to the more Ram. I am going to run a lot of trading programs and hoping they will run smoother. My line is unlimited and due for an upgrade next month. I have a basic line with no data that was available for an upgrade so I used that line to order the G3, so when I get it I will just put the phone on my line. Hopefully that works without a hitch.

I may be leaning to the note 4. .. for me.. seems like just the right size. :p

Stopped by Best Buy today to finally get a hands on. I was impressed with the size, was just perfect for me. Not too big.

The guy pulled out his own G3 and the battery was down to sub 20% in mid afternoon. He said several folks there had one and by far the #1 complaint was lack of screen on time. Dang.

If I get it, I'll just buy a bigger battery. I don't care if it will make the phone thicker.

I'd say that's probably accurate. My experiences with the Note 2 before, and currently with the Note 3...I'd say that both devices have better overall battery life (including screen on time).

Now, that said, I wouldn't say that it has "bad" battery life, but standard considering the size of the screen and Qhd. I think it was a brilliant move for them to go with the removable battery. Just wish they had offered the same package that was offered in the Korean model (extra battery, extra battery charging dock, and earbuds).

Translate por favor.

I'm not sure what else to say. They're not streaming or using other cpu intensive processes. Calls, texts, web. Not making a full day.

On my G2 I can do that and watch an entire movie on Netflix and still make a full day. So that's my issue. I've had phones with poor battery and vowed to avoid it in the future.

About a half hour ago, I checked VZW order status, saw "Your order has been shipped. You can track..."., screen captured it.

That no longer shows, but it must be getting close.

oh, ok, thanks.

so the heretical thought of having an extra battery could not solve it.

Lol I thought the point of a removable battery was in case I needed one compared to my existing habits.

So, for people who never needed to swap batteries or recharge during the day and are now facing that as a requirement after an "upgrade" - if they don't like it, they're the heretics? :D

au contraire, I am the heretic by promoting the idea of having ah extra battery on me just in case there is no USB port reachable anywhere in the desert :D

that's what we have as of today:

At&T - locked bootloader, root method exists;
T-Mo - unlocked bootloader, no root method exists;
Sprint - locked bootloader, no root method exists;
Verizon - locked bootloader, root method exists.
