LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

Ruh roh!

I do not like anti virus apps on phones since tend to be resource hogs and even when well intended, cause more harm as a result. Is McAfee going to be LG's partner for their own form of Knox? I get what they say it is in the article, but to do this you must approach from a global system level. Sounds like a form of Knox like lock down to me, but not enterprise focused. Again, since likely top level/global with the device - same result, enterprise intended or not.

Security where I would not want it.

LG G3 partners with McAfee to prevent unauthorized factory resets and rooting
pretty sure it can be uninstalled w/Titanium after root.

Point here is these type of security measures are at the top level and global, so would prevent you from rooting in the first place. There is no apparent method for discerning between if the owner roots or if someone other than the owner does, so prevention would be top level and absolute.

Appears Knoxish in nature to me.

come on rush.

G3 had been rooted already, in Korea and Europe, using the same exploit.

McFee thing can be disabled, fully or partially.

Maine, without any real info, this is ALL I GOT! Keep the speculation ALIVE! :)

You wanna real info?
But can you handle the real info? :D

Here is the real info:

- My G3 will be in my hands soon;
- My G3 will be rooted;
- My G3 will have ONLY the programs I want and need :p

I guarantee it. :)

For those who prefer the Soviet tank approach, the M8 version of this is getting great reviews -

Plus - it's cheap. Only thirteen clams.

OK folks, who can answer this question!!

Why are there two separate FCC certifications for the VWZ version of the LG G3??

I figured that an 805 variant of the G3 would require a separate FCC certiification since there could be differences in radiated out of band signals due to different chips. Therefore I did a good old Google search for LG g3 FCC certification. On the Sprint page of mylgphones.com I found the following statement:

"Now, we have seen five LG G3 model variants in FCC filling including AT&T D850, Verzion VS985/AS985, T-mobile D851, Sprint LS990 and Europe version G3 D855."

Could just possibly the AS985 be for the 805 chip while the VS985 is for the 801 chip. Before you ask, why would the Europe version (D855) go through the FCC? The FCC certifications are not free!

Does this mean only VZW gets the 805 version? :fight:

I wish..would save me a few bucks for sure :D

But I doubt Legere would allow this to happen.

Nice find! Maybe we'll see 2/16 801 and 3/32 805:dontknow:

I really wish they would officially confirm whats launching in the US. I need a new phone and would get the M8 today if they don't launch the 3/32.

There isn't.

https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...Frame=N&application_id=252995&fcc_id=ZNFAS985

https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...Frame=N&application_id=252995&fcc_id=ZNFVS985

Those lead to the same documents and same certification. The SAR results list all product model name variations, in this case both the AS and VS985.

No submissions are new.

According to LG, the 805 phone coming later will have a different RF subsystem. Unless the FCC changed rules just for Verizon and I missed it, a different RF subsystem will by necessity require a separate battery of tests for that reason alone. That didn't happen.

The secret evidence is not there.

LG G3 - Snapdragon 801

LG Something Else Coming Later - Snapdragon 805

Edit - forgot to mention - a lot of popular phones never sold here get FCC certifications. It's quite the standard practice. Phones show up on our networks thanks to travellers and creative shoppers. For that to be legal, they have to pass the FCC same as any others.

In July :). Hopefully

Looks awful.:smokingsomb:
Looks like a Batman Begins prop. :)

It's heavy protection without the heavy cost.

Some people (cough KOLIO cough) will buy and try every case out there. Which is a very cool way to go btw.

Others will pick their favorites and others think that naked makes sense in their worlds.

Others will put their savings into the new phone and try to hold off until they hear about what case is best and hope to buy it before it's too late. Or don't know if they should get one or not. And in release after release, I read the sad stories of the dropped phone a week before being able to afford or choose the Der WunderKase.

For them and for $13, that case doesn't look bad.

On the contrary, it's freaking gorgeous. :)

It has been mentioned in the Declaration of Human Rights that everybody is entitled to the case that suits his/her phone :D

Speaking of "some people", I already bought 2 cases for my G3, one for $5 and one for $55. Accept no compromises :D

Oddly, I've always thought that the case ought to serve me.
