LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

I feel impatient about this phone, especially now that the fam all has S5's... However, I must remember that the L2 came out late summer/early fall, so they are rushing this already, in order to keep up the Jones' er.. the I mean the Samsungs.

No worries. That still says its status is rumored and it lists a Q4, 2014 release. Needs updated.

I'm worried. I'm worried. But thanks for the comfort?

Edit: My tweet to LG:

@LGUSAMobile If the G3 only has the 801, I'm passing... just sayin'

Look at them tiny bezels!

It MUST come with the 805, it MUST!

Tomorrow will mark a solid week of solid 805 rumors.

That means throwing the bubbly on ice.
It gets uncorked when the 805 is officially confirmed.

Never thought I'd say this but I my consider the edge program if they keep the 6 gb option available for unlimited customers. I never even get close to that and I like the prospect of upgrading about every year.

Looking for comments from anybody who's done this. Happy with the decision or no?

I don't see the point? I'll pay full price for the G2 and then sell it to put towards the G3. That should cost around $350. Then next year I do the same towards whichever phone, never pay full price again. My math could be wrong somewhere? This way I always own phone. With Edge I think you never own a phone.

Frankly LG is the mfr to beat,, nowadays, imo.

This phone, together with its specs (battery, screen and camera) seems that it will blow everything the heck right out of the water. Why get an s5 when the lg is more future proof?

The more I find out about this phone, even unconfirmed rumors, the more I'm impressed with the direction LG is headed.

I see your point and I believe your math is correct. Depends on what you're doing to get to the $650 but here's my breakdown:

Own Phone:
Buy for $600. Add $30 activation fee = $630 (excluding tax)

Although you can of course sell anytime, it hasn't even been near a year yet since the G2 was released and its current market price is about $300. So if you do in fact wait a year, you're looking at a significantly larger gap to fill. But anyway, to use the current timing as our example, it'll cost us $330.

And if you need the sale money up front before making the next purchase, you're going to be without a phone, or use an old one and mess with that hassle in the interim.

Edge:
Monthly bill goes up by $25 for the same $600 phone (600/24). Activation fees are no longer in play. So in the case of a one year scenario, you're looking at having paid $300 (25x12).

That takes varying depreciation out of play. Again if you and I wait a year right now with our G2's, where are we going to be at $250 if we're lucky? Its a guess but I bet not far off. So now we're at $350 to bridge the gap plus $30 activation means a $380 bill.

With Edge, you get the new phone before you have to return the old one so down time or any hassle of a temporary phone are out the window. You can return it in good condition vs having to hope you can keep an owned phone in mint condition to help with the sale.

Never again have to mess with buyers and shipping.

Idk man, for those of us who want to upgrade at near 1 year intervals in particular, I'm seeing what seem to be to be some significant benefits here unless I'm overlooking something on the math myself which is entirely possible. Tonight is the first time I've even considered this so I'm trying to work through it all and see what gives.

The loss of unlimited can mean varying things to people I totally get that. But for me, I almost have it as only a matter of principle at this point. I just don't use that much data. Ever. That said, 6 GB is the minimum I would consider doing this for and according to a rep I spoke with tonight, that deal is still active right now for unlimited users.

The latest leaked specs we had for the LG G3 indicated that the eagerly awaited new flagship from LG, would be driven by a Snapdragon 805 processor. That information came from someone claiming to be an insider. On Friday, we have information from an insider who allegedly handled the phone. He says that the LG G3 will be powered by a Snapdragon 801 SoC.

So which one is it???:dontknow: The 27th couldn't get here soon enough!

Source

The "insider source" story came from LG Mobile India, and the story is kind of disjointed. It discusses a front speaker, a metal case and a couple of other discrepancies. I rate it's accuracy as low.

Note to LG Mobile USA: Leave a G3 in a bar in Cupertino that has a 805 in it so we can rejoice!!

Now Phone Arena's saying this:
Those Snapdragon 801-laden LG G3 rumors must have been of prototype devices, while the real slim shady will be arriving with a Snapdragon 805 processor, according to the latest tip. Let's not forget that Qualcomm itself mentioned not long ago that the first device with an 805 chipset will be arriving in May, so the G3 seems like a prime candidate.
This HAS to be true. Thanks, Jeyd02, for the link above.

Is that accurate?
Halon's always right :) My money is on him :smokingsomb:
