Root liquid thunderbread

my first impressions are very good. i love the transparent backgrounds, and its super fast, and pretty smooth. will report more after some time, but so far im likin it

I flashed it last night and I'm blown away with it. The fact that it's like 66mb is crazy. It's fast as shit, smooth and with Imos' new 3.3.7 I'm getting great battery life. I'll be keeping this loaded up for the next few days if not longer.

im using the stock kernel, wich is imo's 3.3.4 AOSP and so far it seems fine. radios need to be mr2

as for radios,id no longer reccomed anything other than the newest mr2 kernel,or the "2.75" kernel as weve been calling it. ;) its baseband ends in 627.

since youre still new to it all,id prolly run the stock kernel for a couple days. if you want to change it later you can. you cant go wrong with imoseyon's kernels(you can always tell the latest and best for battery by checking wormdoes's signiture :D). there are download links to them, and the mr2 radio you right in the original post :)

Still a n00b at all this... to use this ROM, what Radio and Kernel should I/do i have to have?

You will need the MR2, MR2.5 or the 0627r (the newest radio from the OTA update on Friday) radio

Make sure to rename whichever radio you d/l to PG05IMG.zip and place it on the root (not in any folder) of your SD.

If you have adb setup it's easiest to flash the ROM, then "adb reboot bootloader" without the quotes to get into hboot and flash the radio. If you don't you can flash the ROM, reboot, then power off and hold volume down and power until you reach the white screen with skateboarding Andys. NOTE: if you do the latter when you reboot you will not have any cell service. That's normal so don't panic

damn you Scotty ;)

So it's called LTB 2.2; does that mean it's a Froyo ROM? will this ROM destroy my battery life like the GB ROM I installed before?

no,its not froyo... its AOSP gingerbread, like cm7. 2.2 is simply the developers rom version. battery life seems fine for me so far.

So does this ROM come with Imo's kernel?

I have the ROM downloaded and Imo's newest AOSP kernel, just wondering if its redundant.

Also are other kernels working with the MR2 radio? Someone mentioned you had to use whatever comes with the ROM until the source was released. I'd like to try Imo's with CM7 before I check out Thunderbread.

i judt downloaded the rom, flashed, and did nothing to it... its got imo's 3.3.4 AOSP kernel. im not kernel savy enuff to know if thats his latest. :o

i thot the kernel reference was just for the rooted ota rom. i dont think the radio cares what kernel youre using... but then, maybe i mis understood it.

Like Scotty said LTB comes with Imos' 3.3.4, his newest posted is 3.3.7.

I used Imos' kernel on CM7 and 0637r radio without issue

edit: for what it's worth battery life on 3.3.7 was crazy good. I saw on twitter a few people who said the same

This looks pretty good. Real plain but at the same time a little bit of touch to it too. Not as pretty as sense 3.0 on bamf. I love bamf but god the battery life is killing me on it.

Battery life is almost always much improved on AOSP ROM's.

Having a smaller footprint means less that needs to be monitored.

CM7 is less than half the size of BAMF Stripped, which is the smallest Sense ROM I know of, and Thunderbread is about 30mb smaller than CM7.

Obviously there's other things to account for, kernel, overclocking, sync'ing etc. but it's a pretty safe generalization that all things being equal you'll notice improved battery life, and faster/smoother performance with AOSP.

*Flashing Thunderbread now

Well said,ibrick.

Its also all about what you're used to... lots of folks like sense alot. I got used to android on a OG Droid and thus have a strong preference for plain vanillish android. Pretty much any kind of skin annoys me,lol.

Digdug,if you dug it on the OG you'll dig it on the TB :D

And I wasn't going to flash a rom this morning. I tried liquid's sense rom recently and wasn't too impressed but back with my d1 liquid roms always graced my phone.
