Root Lost MMS and internet

Ok this is the Evo 4g. The original evo. I own one with a broken screen now but I never rooted it. Now I think I will fix the screen and root it for fun.

It might be helpful to ask your question here: evo 4g all things root

Don't think I'm telling you to leave this board. I will gladly still troubleshoot with you! You will just have more resources if you post there too and possibly someone with an answer.

Either way I'm sure after trying some different things we can eventually get it fixed.

It looks like CWM is on it cause I tried to backup (after the vol/dm then the next menu...) The backup worked but for the end says androidsecure failed.

If you check the header of this post, it's the chop[suey with sense 3.5...

I am unfamiliar with that rom since I've never used it or rooted that phone. I will look a few things up though.

Is there an existing backup on your phone? Maybe one from when you first got the phone? Is the rom what was already on the phone when you got it? Or did you flash that rom?

No existing backup. I did a b u and then went to back/up but only mine was there.. Trying to get a hold of dude but he's traveling right now... Don't kill yourself over it bro. I was hoping I could find someone that had the same
problem. I'm considering reflashing it like i did my acend but I'm nervouse since I don't know what I have exactly!!!.. Ya-mean?

Some ruu to look at

I'm not familiar with all of the versions and everything for that phone. The link is at least a starting point. Part of your decision on which one to run will depend on what version you want to root. Probably running an older version will be easier to root. This is just speculation though.

Is your phone s-off? Most likely. I think that a requirement for going backward in software versions.
It may be helpful to poke around or ask on the 4g board too. It can be bad news if you run an RUU not meant for your phone. Also its a little scarier since you don't have a backup and can't make one....

Maybe you should try flashing a different recovery and try to get a backup just in case?

revolutionary
supersonic EVT3 ship s-off
HBOOT-6.16.1002
microp-041f
touchpanel-atmel224_16ab
radio-2.15.00.0008

Then if I goto recovery:

its the clockwrk 5.0.2.2

Again, thanks for your time.
Ps. the kernel info is at the top

Ok, my bad guys. :o

I've owned both the Supersonic (4g) and Shooter (3d) and got my numbers all goofy in my head when I moved this to the Evo 3D root section.

New location - coming up....

thanx earlymon.

wow now that we got that straight. you are on a sense 3.5 rom. not sure which one as you did not post the name. it should be under software version or something like that.

anyways no biggy. do you know what baseband(radio) you have?

also try and update prl and profile.

edit: just saw your radio. you might want to try and update it. and just to be sure you do have it activated with sprint, right?

Moved after working an all-nighter, not at my sharpest.

Ummmm... Why not go straight to a good working rom recommendation?

Just a thought...

I can dig this. How about a recommendation though? I am unfamiliar with rooting this phone which is why I brought up going stock and re rooting. I wasn't comfortable suggesting roms for him because I wouldn't know which one he should try.

Check out the Roms & Kernels download page....especially the staff picks.
MikG is close to stock and verrrrrryyyyy nice.
I was on that rom when I first rooted!:)

Thanks! He also mentioned that he wasn't able to do a nandroid backup. I suggested flashing another recovery to try and get a backup before doing anything. I know at least on the 3d I had to update my baseware to flash anything based around the ics build. Is this not the case between other versions? I just didn't want to suggest something he shouldn't flash because I'm unfamiliar with his hboot, radio, kernel number etc. Plus I'm a noob :-P my 3vo was the first phone I've rooted. Thinking about rooting my old 4g for experience though.
