LTE speeds

i know this isnt x related, or android related (yet), but since everyone here are verizon customers, i thought i would share.
i got the pantech usb modem on monday, and i've been getting on averate 14-15Mbps down, and 4-5Mbps up. i cant wait to have these speeds on a phone!

Speed is great, but what I am looking forward to is data and voice at the same time like ATT can do. WIsh Verizon wised up and enabled that on their CDMA
 
I wonder if the 4G network will be an even more battery hog than the 3G network. I remember when 3G came out, everyone was freaking out about the extra battery drain as compared to 1X. That would sucketh if it were worse.
 
Higher frequencies = more battery consumption, for sure. But, just like 3G, the technology keeps progressing and the radios will get refined and they'll get the battery usage down again.

Turn on 4G on the Evo, and the battery actually whimpers quietly and begins pleading for mercy. But I'm sure the next generation will be better, and the generation after that even better.

Same cycle as with any new tech.

If you are speaking of frequency in terms on Mhz, LTE will actually be on a much lower frequency(700Mhz), the lowest frequency in use by anyone.

It is also rumored PCMag got speeds of +30Mbps with the USB modem.

Fair enough but my point is that latency results from a speedtest site can be arbitrary and erroneous. I'm seeing latency as high as 700ms on my 7Mb T-Mo connection, via speedtest.net app, yet I have no issues w/VoIP calls, where QoS starts to degrade at 150ms.

Ping results to known addresses via a command prompt would provide more accurate info.
 
Nice speed results but I'm curious as to what the speed is going to be when everybody is using LTE. Right now, the OP is one of a select few in his area using it.
 
RF tech here in Atlanta are getting 55m down during the testing granted there isnt any traffic and it is uncapped;) latency is 120-190

Verizon dealer? I am too =) My rep brought me mine yesterday. i have been consistantly getting around 11-12mb/s and around latency around 100~200ms most of the time. hovers between most of the time. Too bad I only get it for a couple weeks as a trial.

Is your card the one with the USB cover that pops off and folds back sideways? I was just wondering because I havent heard much about the lte cards yet.
 
Wow! That's fast! You can eat up your bandwidth cap in less than an hour! :p Verizon has stated advertised speeds between 5-12 megs. I imagine that this will be the case when phones with 4G are released (towers loaded).

I'm well aware that latency - as well as bandwidth, actually - is going to vary based on a lot of parameters including destination, distance from towers, current network load, and about a dozen other factors.

However, one of the promises of LTE was a large reduction in latency overall. So some latency results are better than no latency results and will still be relevant even if they aren't my specific results.
