Root LTEVO ROOTING FOR DUMMIES {The Complete Guide}

here it is:
WinDroid HTC EVO 4G LTE Toolkit
First off thanx should go out to WindyCityRockr. This is not a root method really, but more of a tool that you can use to do numerous cool things. This toolkit will guide you through on getting your bootloader unlocked; you can get recovery; and even get s-off with this toolkit. This toolkit will get your phone s-off using various the previous methods according to what your firmware is. rumrunner which is the current s-off method for with the latest ota is in the works......so if you have the latest ota, software version 3.17 then you will have to wait until the dev can update windroid with rumrunner.

here is the original thread:
[TOOL] [10.01.13] WinDroid HTC EVO 4G LTE Toolkit v2.0 | Unlock | Root | Flash | S-OFF |

FYI Rumrunners is having a hiccup on the LTE at the moment.

Everything goes peachy until if goes F*****************************

I reported it on the IRC.

dumb question but i gotta ask i am s-off thru rumrunner and bout to do [ROM][Official] PACman [4.3 RC][Nightlies] from xda site do I still have to flash the boot image with fastboot?
this is the custom hboot:http://rumrunner.us/rumrunner_downloads/hboot_rumrunner_jewel_3.17.651.4.zip

That's completely optional.

I'll say "you" below to mean anyone with the same question.

You may want to flash it if -

- you want to remove the "tampered" message on the bootloader and any red text on startup (those things are completely harmless)

- you want to try the new CM 11, or any newer rom requiring the 2.09 bootloader, and you don't already have the latest bootloader

- you need access to engineering bootloader commands (if you don't know what this is then chances are excellent it won't apply to you)

yup wifey didnt like that rom so we on to the next one...[rom][11-19-13] cm-11.0-jewel [kit-kat][4.4]..this is next one one list...just to be clear i have to flash openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-jewel-selinux onto phone before i install from zip? and yes thos things like tampered and red text dont mean shiz...but it sure is nice to out smart technology sometimes amd get rid of that stuff...hahaha eat that evo...sorry little excited

No problem. :)

Yeah, definitely flash the special TWRP first to go with KitKat, then the rom.

It all has to do with the new secured kernel.

Here's how that all works -

Pretty good. :)

And the new TWRP is still aok for going with other roms, so it's not a one way street.

Modify to match the actual file name -

fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-jewel-selinux.img

Make sure you've moved that file into the same folder where fastboot lives.

nope still not flashed phone in write port ...its reconized by comp..it has root...yup fastboot usb yup write file...write place i did word for word

C:\sdk-tools\sdk-tools>fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-jewel-s
elinux.img
error: cannot load 'openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-jewel-selinux.img': Unknown error

While in fastboot USB mode, does this command work and reboot the phone?

fastboot reboot

Does your bootloader screen say that it's unlocked?

If you want to try other things, ok.

Yeah, so I was wondering if you were somehow relocked but I don't think it's that.

Go ahead and grab that regular TWRP 2.6.3, move it over to that folder and try and see if it flashes as you planned.

If it does, then something is probably borked in the SELinux version.

In that case, trash it, download a fresh copy and try again.
